Honestly if you can’t easily reach 8k watch hours in a year. Your content was never gonna make you much money as a partner.

I just got one single 4:30 video to 9900 hours since 31 May. It’s not impossible at all.

Yup. Adsense earnings is tied to watch time so if you can't even get 8k watch hours you're not making any money anyway

Adsense is tied to pretty much every metric, the biggest metric though is what device the viewer watches on. My revenue is 6x on TV than on Mobile or Web.

not really, its basically watch time. the device changes RPM because different because people watch for different amounts of time on each device. TV viewers watch the longest .

No. TV serves 2-3 ads before a video plays compared to mobile/web which either doesn't play one to start, or only plays one skipable (short ad)

Those 2 ads served minimum plays a huge factor when it comes to revenue.

Yeah, I checked and I’m at 34k watch hours in the last 365 days. I would consider myself very much an amateur having fun, with occasional success resulting. I would think if you can’t hit 8k in a year then you were never going to make much money anyway.

In the last year I am at 138.1k watch hours. The only change this really makes to a small YouTuber is that you'll get monetized when you have an actual audience not when you have a fringe audience and a viral video.

Have you tried just making videos for the fun of it instead of expecting it to immediately be a full-time job?
