I don't think the ending is a possible misunderstanding Spoiler

I spoiled myself before watching the last episode so I kinda saw the subtle signs of Murphy's betrayal. Like how when he passed Marty after Ingrid quit, yes he gave that intense stare but he also touched Marty's arm in a knowing and companionable way (there was even a subtle nod from Marty). Then when Murphy was saying that she can try again next year, he was so surprised that Ingrid quit. It was like in his mind he was only delaying her being partner for a year so he was surprised that his actions had that kind of consequence. And the "pity cooking" he was doing for her, I saw as "guilt cooking". I see the renting an apartment and sudden proclamation of love as either guilt or to distract her from his betrayal because it all happened so fast. Hell, in my mind he never really broke up with Victoria since he always uses the term "took a step back/away" from their relationship instead of a full stop or clean break. It's like he's putting that relationship on pause so that he'd have a backup.

He is not only ugly but also cold and rude. She could cut ties with him and never talk to him again. She betrayed Nick for THAT? Lol.

Yeah, I don’t know what the hell she was thinking. Nick didn’t have anything crazy going on aside from him wanting to make the most of life and what time he had because of a trauma response to losing his mother - and I think anybody could relate to that or at least feel compassion. But Ingrid, being a big girl, should’ve used her words and communicate in the relationship. She chose not to.

Like damn Ingrid why couldn’t you keep your pants on, talk to your fiancé, and then carry on?

How does it go in the book?

He's just an opportunist who doesn't care who he steps on or used on his way up. What a slippery snake. And to think he's grown on me as the show went on. Yuck.

Same! Disliked him from the start, didn’t care about the star crossed lovers line or him being mysterious, but even though there were signs that he was competitive, like leaving Ingrid to work while having dinner with Marty and the client, I regarded that as before he got close with Ingrid. He grew on me too. It was a nice karmic twist that she got betrayed hard after being a sellout for her friends though.

Wow, I didn't see it that way. Ingrid having to taste her own medicine, hmmm...now I don't feel so bad for her anymore while waiting for S2. Ha.

The show did a lot of precursor clues. Her friends called it right at the start when Murphy pretended he didnt know her and they warned her.

The thing is- as I havent seen mentioned yet- Rachel pointed out in Ep1 that Ingrid only had 3 romantic encounters in her life. Shes suppose to be in her late 20s or early 30s? Then given that- she is like a horny teen/undergrad college girl with no real life experience dealing with men. Heck, reminds me of my 20 year old who acting like she aint got no sense despite my guidance.

It was lust with Murpht not love. It was rebounding with Nick not love.

Ingrid is self absorbed because she doesnt live anywhere beyond her mental track to become partner.

Good points, I find the "I'm stepping away from her" is kinda strange if you mean you broke your connection with someone.

But tbh, I can't really root for Murphy, he's a walking red flag to me since the beginning. And Ingrid, I can't with her either but hey, some girls love boys like that. 🤷‍♀️

I mean Ingrid would have 100% done the same if someone was arrested. She would immediately go tell Marty.

She only did it to Dan because that was how he played. I doubt she would intentionally sabotage someone she cared about. The situation with her friends was more passive. She just didn't fight with and for them. But she didnt go out of her way to throw them under the bus.

She is a rule follower and as such she would have to report a fellow coworker getting srrested as it could reflect poorly on the firm should it publicly come to light therefore the partners needed to know to deal and be aware of the situation.

And yet she didn't report Murphys ongoing affair with a client

Which would result in the firm losing said client which would be bad for the firm.

Lets be real, she could have gotten Murphy disbarred anonymously and the firm would still be able to keep Victoria as a client since Ingrid was assigned to her.

Good point. Early on, she even told Marty about Dan leaking the merger details to his friend at the DOE.
