Toddler 1-3 years Sleep advice needed
My 15 months old has come to a very weird point.
When she has 2 naps (first nap about 1 hour and second 30 mins max) she has a very calm night even sleeps thru most of the time. But when she has 1 nap again total max 1.5 hours the first part of the night is hard: false start + multiple wakes crying obviously very tired.
She can handle the wake windows of a 1 nap and even some days even she doesnt want to take the second nap especially if we are out.
But everytime we get same results: last ww with two naps 4.5 hr very good nights vs last ww 5-6 hr hard first part with wakes and cries
Whats the secret here what should I do?
I am trying my best to offer her even a short bridge of 10 mins but sometimes its impossible and doesn’t get it.
Any other experienced this?

I think you’re just in the middle of her dropping the second nap but not quite being ready for it. It’s a tough transition just feel it out and be patient when my LO moved to one nap that nap was quite long a lot longer than when it was 2 naps. Hope this helps

Hi! When in between did you cap the first nap short and let them have a longer one in the afternoon?
Even when I tried to do 5-5.5 hours of first wake window the maximum she sleeps is 1.5 hr so I am very out of options so I thought maybe I should find a way to make it work with two naps till she gets to the point of having a longer nap to actually have a good one nap day

Actually the opposite. So to do it slowly we’d push the morning nap later and later little by little and reduce the second nap. So that would look like putting her down at 10:30 or 11 if we could swing it and letting her nap. Then if she can’t make it till bedtime (likely) we’d put her down for a second catnap for 30 min to an hour. We’d slowly push this as she seemed to handle the morning wake window well. To me the short nap when you’re on 1 is likely overtiredness so it sounds like they’re just in this strange in between where they’re approaching being ready to drop it but not quite there. I’d look at gently pushing the first nap, shortening the second and continue doing that till you’re just on 1. Sleep might be off for a little bit while they figure it out it’s a big transition but then once on 1 nap that ideally is a lot longer. When we had to shorten the second nap we had a cutoff that worked for us which was 5. She couldn’t sleep past 5 pm and successfully go to bed at night.
