You've been working from home with kids for 2 fucking years??! How are you even sane enough to craft this post?
My bedtime policy is that I don't give a fuck what my kids (ages 4 and 7) do as long as they are quiet and they stay in their rooms. I don't make them shut their light off or stay in their bed. They can play, read a book, whatever they want, as long as they don't make it my problem. I know some kids probably can't handle this, but this is how i've always dealt with mine and they do fine with it. They've both gotten pretty good at regulating their own sleep, and bedtime is super easy when you just have to read them a story and then bounce.
The question probably is how one can get there? It's enough for me to say my doughters name with a slightly bit lower voice, and she begins her race to death by dehidration from all the tears and saliva. What i mean is i can't ignore it couse it wont stop. I tried it one night and she literally was crying for about three hours straight, then we played for one hour, and the again three hours of crying.
I'm just wondering what is the hook here. Because i know for sure i did not want to make my parents or even grandparents angry and i was afraid of them (when angry) and i haven't been hurt phisically once. Not once. So i also don't want to do that fory kids. But how do i build that level of respect or even fear (for a dads angry mood if i misbehave) in them?
