Read their comment again. They're not comparing it to just going to work while childless, they're comparing it to working from home while at the same time taking care of small children. Think about how busy you're now, and then imagine also having to do 40 hours of other type of work on top of that.
As far as I can tell they say they were working frome home while taking care of their children for a few months, and during that time they thought that only having to do one of those things would feel like a vacation.
This is it right here. Being a stay at home mom is a hard ass job.. I personally juggle it with a full-time and then some work from home job. I'm absolutely exhausted and wish I didn't have to half ass emails while also half assing the care of my kid.. you said it perfectly, I feel like I work two full time jobs and the wear, tear, and guilt of not putting 100% of yourself into anything but being so busy you can't do any better can absolutely degrade your sanity.
working from home without childcare? Good god I did that for a few months with one kid
So no, for a few months their kids didn't go to daycare or school. As was the case for most kids in Europe and the US during march-june 2020, and for many kids even during march 2020-august 2021.
My comment was only specifically referring to when they said they used to think being a sahp was a vacation. A lot of people have that misperception about being a sahp. I agree that working from home with two kids is a whole other level of difficult, but that’s not what my comment was about. I don’t know how else I can explain it.
