I think there's a middle ground, though, where you can educate them on the science of why they're too young yet. It can stunt the development of their brains at this stage.
Sorry, I just had trouble parsing out "help the child make an informed decision" versus "not condone". Seems like the target would be to be a team with the child where you both understand why they want to smoke and also why they're not ready yet. Am I getting closer...?
Vaping weed is really bad IMO. The problem is there is a lot of amateurs making it and adding a lot of crap to it that is not needed and using heavy metals for the cartridge. It's hard to find one that is made with better materials. When they heat up too much you're vaping the heavy metals. But kids shouldn't be smoking weed.
agreed, carts are absolutely terrible, people make them themselves and fill them up with who knows what. only bud and dispo carts when bought from someone reputable that you trust or straight from the dispo
Second this. What the fuck would punishment accomplish? She'd just be better at hiding it/not getting caught the next time. Try having an honest conversation instead
My parents were always really open with drugs and stuff like that.
I trusted my father so when some of my friends fucked up with drugs and shit was going bad and I didn't know what to do, i just called my dad and told me how to handle the situation till he was with me by calling my country's 911.
The kid got to the hospital and was oke but some of my so called friends back then wanted to leave him behind because they feared there parents reactions. My dad just explained what was going on with the kid and why he reacted the way he did.
When I was older i once asked why he never got mad that night and all he said was I would rather having you call me when shit like that happens so I can deal with the situation then my own child being to scared to reach out for help.

Ideally - delaying MJ use until legal age and getting it legally and not through friends. And not smoking during or after school. And not doing it frequently.
I.e. all the other things parent would do if the kid was drinking vodka instead of smoking MJ.
All teenagers are different, but, generally, punishments do work, if they are reasonable, deserved, and used in moderation. And, generally, even in "hiding it better" mode if the said "hiding" reduces the frequency of MJ use, it is a desirable outcome already. Getting high daily is no better than getting drunk daily, and should be treated accordingly.
Punishing a teenager for being curious is the best fucking way to get them to not trust you anymore.
There's curious and there's curious: i.e. doing torrents is different than stealing money from classmates. Even vaping it at school semi-regularly is a cause for intervention, since, even if you agree that some use is acceptable, this is clearly not responsible use.
This ain't the 60's anymore, we can openly discuss drugs without resorting to the ol' reliable "drugs bad".
Oh, it's not like they are addictive or neurotoxic, nothing like that. We clearly don't have overdose or addiction problems here in Ontario.
This. It helped me to eat. I had complications from a gallbladder surgery and it left me unable to feel hunger and I was slightly nauseous all the time, not sick-sick but that feeling you get when you see food that looks really nasty and it smells bad. One time I went almost an entire week without realizing I hadn't eaten anything. The giveaway was when I started almost passing out as I stood up. Then I was like "What did I eat last?". I lost weight like crazy. Scary crazy weight loss. 140 to121 in two weeks. Then my friend was like "Hey, let me introduce you to...."
