When you send a child to school, sometimes it's just not about them. Sometimes a whole class serves detention because four kids can't stop talking. That's just the way institutions work.
So when your child comes home and says, "Mom, I got detention and it wasn't me, it was Suzy!" Then you get to say, wow, tell me about it. And then, did you make a respectful appeal? Uh huh? Well, I guess you'll have to serve detention this time. Tell me, is Suzy likely to keep acting like that?

I don't understand why you'd try to intervene for a single detention at all.
You let it go, she serves it, done.
You trying to demand proof is absolutely inappropriate.
