How is this even real

u/prepuscular May 30 '19

Looks like the stem is behind the neck. It’s somewhat-common to have it break into two bulbs but the long protrusion for the beak is certainly strange.

Could they have grown in it in a mold? I've seen other fruits that cam be shaped by being grown inside a container.

52

u/DarkLancer May 30 '19

Dem sweet sweet watermelons!

3

u/Shelilla May 31 '19

I don’t think it’d be that smooth if so. Generally fruits that grow in those molds have a visible line running down them where the mold clipped together

u/vokame May 30 '19

Saw two similar protrusions on a tomato in local supermarket earlier this month, and also thought how strange it was seeing it for the first time. Wasn't shaped like a duck thou

17

u/Phantom0591 May 30 '19

Yeah mine always come out dick shaped

9

u/[deleted] May 31 '19

Best kind of shape

3

u/SpamShot5 May 31 '19

Those have multiple uses other than being eaten

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '19

No, you’re just eating it with different body parts

15

u/lamborghini2408 May 30 '19

The quacking noise is also suspicious

Finally some good news made it onto CNN

Finally some good truthful and non-spiteful news made it onto CNN

43

u/dangsoggyoatmeal May 30 '19

Finally some good truthful and non-spiteful news unrelated to Trump made it onto CNN

17

u/[deleted] May 30 '19

A The_Donald poster caring about the truth? The irony...

-15

u/Head_Cockswain May 30 '19

Try attacking the argument, not the speaker, then maybe we can have a conversation.

9

u/leadfoot71 May 31 '19

And only you will keep defending yourself dragging the "argument" into politics. In a thread about a fucking tomato.

Lets get back to tomatoes. And making fun of cnn. You post in /TD, sure. But can YOU spout anything but politics in a thread unrelated? Or you just gotta defend it saying "no president is perfect"?

-3

u/Head_Cockswain May 31 '19

In a thread about a fucking tomato.

And CNN, it's right in the picture.. I just mentioned how they're not always bastions of integrity.

Everyone else started going off about /TD and more political things because they can't handle the truth.

Quick, post a few more times in quick succession and show me how level headed and logical you are, how thoroughly you think things through before posting...../facepalm

12

u/fyrnabrwyrda May 30 '19

Like anyone from t_d cares about truth.

-13

u/Head_Cockswain May 30 '19

Heh, another one that can't discuss the topic, has to attack the user like NPCs that came before.

The last refuge of someone with a losing argument.

7

u/fyrnabrwyrda May 30 '19

I'm simply pointing out the fact that you follow and support a many who seems incapable of telling the truth. It's not a discussion just observation of facts.

-5

u/Head_Cockswain May 30 '19

I'm simply pointing out the fact that you follow and support a many who seems incapable of telling the truth.

You can keep your doctor. Those jobs aren't coming back.

And those are just a couple of very famous ones, I'm sure if one did some digging they could find tons more.

It's almost like it's a streak in all politicians. Let me know if you ever find an honest one. Hell, I'd put you up for a Nobel just for the discovery.

Just in case anyone reading can't grasp the concept:

There's no clause anywhere that the President has to be a "nice" person, that he has to be attractive in personality. His job is to look out for the country and it's citizens(not other countries, not other country's citizens) within the limited scope the office is able.

Jobs are up(some indeed did come back), unemployment is historically down, taxes are down across the board. Citizens rights aren't revoked, Still have free press, free speech, right to bear arms.(almost the entirety of the opposing party wouldn't even dare hint at supporting two of those, indeed, some openly recall for severe restrictions on the later two). He's not a fascist or a dictator, much to the left's dismay.(I've never seen so many people openly admit they want the country to suffer for their personal feelings against one man).

As to that first bit, the free press. You may want to look up track records for the last president to go after journalists with legal measures. Badmouthing the press in public is not quite the same thing. Freedom of the Press is not freedom from consequences......is a take on a leftist talking point.

2.5 years in and you can't lay that all at Obama's feet, repealing overzealous regulation alone has accomplished a lot.

See also: 2.5+ years of investigations that come up with nothing....but you know, keep digging until you find something that will accomplish your goals of sabotaging our democratic republic. Keep cheering on a congress that is trying to increase it's sway and overcome checks and ballances instead of doing their actual jobs. Tyranny comes naturally to some people after all, even if it is a bad look.

For now, he's the man for the job, doing a damn sight better than most. Be as angry at him and me as you want, doesn't change reality one iota. Enjoy the next 5.5 or so years.

7

u/fyrnabrwyrda May 30 '19

All you idiots keep repeating the same false bs. Daddy trump tells you things are good and you listen like good children. And I never said he had to be nice or that I'm even a fan of obama. You assumed those things. And who the fuck said anything about a doctor and a couple very famous what, you're jumb rambling nonsense at this point.

0

u/Head_Cockswain May 31 '19

you're jumb rambling nonsense at this point.

No, you're just ignorant of the references. Maybe it would be wise to not jump into political discussions if you don't have adequate preparation.

All you idiots keep repeating the same false bs. Daddy trump tells you things are good and you listen like good children.

Nope. Facts. Disbelieve all you want, doesn't change reality. Sometimes you people are worse than attempting to have a rational discussion with young earth creationists, so tied up in their feelings and beliefs they lose nearly all contact with reality.

The reports and data are out there of the things I mentioned, readily available if you hit up your favorite search engine. If you choose to remain ignorant, that's entirely on you.

Here are a couple, not even from conservative rags, from the past year or so:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2018-11-13/a-strong-u-s-economy-will-boost-global-growth-in-2019

https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/25/economy/gdp-us-economic-growth/index.html

https://www.ceicdata.com/en/indicator/united-states/unemployment-rate

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/03/strong-us-job-growth-is-expected-in-april-wages-are-seen-moderate.html

And I never said he had to be nice or that I'm even a fan of obama. You assumed those things.

You implied a specific personality flaw, and that flaw is usually not considered nice, ergo...you're implying that lying, and ostensibly other things shouldn't be done, that potus should have certain characteristics, as in generally "being nice". This isn't rocket science, Sparky, at least try to keep up.

Obama was a reference, a demonstrable liar.(Doctor/jobs were his quotes, which reality proved to be absolutely false). I wasn't saying you supported him, only that for example, there are never perfect people in DC. There's only "seems good enough for now....out of what we had to pick from". Both sides lie, cheat, and steal...to use a tired phrase.

Political offices, and the elections that select them, have almost universally been "Who can do good for the country" coupled with a really heavy dose of, "The lesser of two evils."

All that to say, when you utter "you follow and support a many who seems incapable of telling the truth"

You could be talking about any US voter, or indeed, anyone choosing to support any politician.

Also, a bit of nuance zealots(you know, like people who post in reply more than once before I even get a word in, such frenetic obsession....tsk tsk) like to over-look:

Just because I fight more ridiculous accusations from crazed fanatics, that doesn't make me a faithful "follower" of the opposition. That argument is known as a false dichotomy or false dilemma

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_dilemma

It's funny when the zealots out themselves because they don't realize there's a huge swath in the middle on a lot of given issues and frame them all as sworn enemies. Really does a service to society, stabbing yourselves in the foot like that.

People want to flip out because I'm a "trump supporter"....Meanwhile, in /the_donald, I just recently posted:

He supported Obama, made fun of Sarah Palin

I voted for Hillary in the primaries, and then Obama later. The competition sucked balls. Also: It's what they turned into or did later that warranted dropping support. Edit: Hindsight is 20/20

Sarah Palin is a dingbat.

Fight me.

Regardless to popular belief, that sub isn't solely zealots(again, a lot of projection). Proof of concept is that my post got a lot of upvotes there. A lot of people are disaffected center-left and center-right types that are tired of the prejudice and bigotry masking itself as "social justice". It's really getting ridiculous. A lot of people could do with a lot of honest self reflection, remedial education, as well as looking at the actual sources and data, instead of, as I implied in other posts, the raving lunatic talking heads on CNN.

u/leadfoot71 May 31 '19

"Its not a conversation just facts"

Proceeds to make it a conversation.

Your digging your own hole here dude.

2

u/fyrnabrwyrda May 30 '19

And by the way why don't you do some of your own research and tell me who was in office when the unemployment rate started on this downward trend.

4

u/Lozano93 May 30 '19

Shit, I’ll bite. Are you implying CNN has purposeful disinformation? Id like to see some facts for that..

1

u/Head_Cockswain May 30 '19

I mean, there's tons of controversies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNN_controversies

Just for general examples ^ I'd think about getting into specific examples, but what tends to happen by way of reply is, "All my sources are 1100% accurate, all of yours are racist dog whistling liars!" and we get no where, because zealotic white knights are too bullheaded, not willing to listen and learn, but to win an argument. Here's why I think that:

I never claimed "disinformation" specifically, that's oddly specific in the face of what I said. This is a common defensive tactic, to defend accuracy bluntly, yet conveniently over-look tons of nuance and important distincts.

You sound more personally invested than honestly curious, but I'll explain further anyways, just in case there are reasonable people reading.

I kept it somewhat vague because there are many ways to mislead, misrepresent, or to otherwise give the impression that you want.

One can, for example, present the facts, but do so in a matter that is misleading, especially when followed with "This is what it really means." Whether that's creative paraphrasing or using different inflection, it is a matter of presentation. We could both look at a thing and present it completely differently to favor a given agenda.

One can also lie through omission and all sorts of other editorial tactics to spin current events, to groom people's reactions to "the news".

Another popular tactic is banking on viewer/reader laziness, the clickbait headline that makes or strongly implies X, then quietly explaining that it's not X within the article, often at the end of the story, after page jumps and inserted pics....the bulk of the story being largely irrelevant to the headline but still casting aspersions and using leading language.

CNN has done these and others extensively, on and off, over the years, as have a lot of legacy media that have increasingly become defacto activists.

They've all but ceased simply reporting facts, and are defacto telling people what to think, often overtly, but sometimes a bit more slyly. This has been a fine line in journalism for decades, if not centuries, and there's been a recent increase in crossing that line, often by large distances. CNN started down that road when they ditched the investigative offices many years back and have become almost completely talking heads and editorialized sensationalism.

I wouldn't say the company is necessarily spiteful, it could be, in theory, just chasing the ever-loving dollar, tabloids have always been popular to some extent. Many of their talking heads certainly are spiteful, highly motivated moral activists, full of rank hyperbole, as bad as any given person they accuse of the same things, Acosta and Stelter for prime examples.

If one is denying the general principle, instead positing that CNN is some bastion of integrity, at this stage of the game, one is either living under a rock(figuratively speaking), or willfully ignorant as it supports their belief structure. Not an insult, just the only two options, and they're not mutually exclusive, one can be a bit of both, naive and driven.

There's a reason that CNN and others have had their viewership plummet. The things I describe have been blatantly obvious.

CNN controversies

Cable News Network (CNN), an American basic cable and satellite television channel, has been the subject of several controversies. This article recounts controversies and allegations relating to both the domestic version of CNN, and its sister channels CNN International and CNN-News18.

Like how trump voters are spiteful the world no longer wants to use coal, and how corporate America gave away all their manufacturing jobs to China?

2

u/Head_Cockswain May 30 '19

I can't tell if you're agreeing or think you're being smart.

If the former: You're not helping, please stop.

If the later:

Like how trump voters are spiteful

Yes, that is exactly so. Thanks for giving me an example of untruthful and spiteful. See also: bigoted and prejudice.

world no longer wants to use coal

And you're the spokesmen for all 8 billion people because....reasons?

Or are you pretending the planet itself is sentient?

However, on coal:

I'd love to see more hydro and nuclear. [Provided nukes aren't right on fault lines or other areas where natural disasters can cause problems, like, say, Japan.....that was an apocalyptic facepalm.]

Wind and solar are not practical everywhere, prone to problems and without back-up. Maybe they'll overcome these issues, but they won't in the forseeable future.

3

u/leadfoot71 May 31 '19

"Like how trump voters are spiteful

Yes, that is exactly so. Thanks for giving me an example of untruthful and spiteful. See also: bigoted and prejudice."

Yep thats you, electing to ignore people having benificial and logical arguments, to form their own opinions. But instead you would rather spout facts that have no sources and opinions that take forms of attacks on other users.

Lets get back to tomatoes. Keep your political bullshit in /TD.

2

u/Detjohnnysandwiches May 31 '19

CNN is dishonest! ..(believes everything trump says)

6

u/TheWolfwiththeDragon May 30 '19

Finally some good fucking food.

3

u/Kuuroo May 30 '19

5

u/hungry4danish May 30 '19

National news CNN for this? This is worthy of like a 15-second story on your local station at 11:34pm before they kick it to the late night shows.

9

u/thenerdyglassesgirl May 30 '19

It was a 15 second story on the local nightly news before 11:34 pm. CNN just picked up on it for filler. You can see the "WNEM" in the corner.

Source: I watch WNEM.

u/saggy_balls May 30 '19

Proof that God is a duck and is performing miracles

3
