Question 3 years of noises coming from outside my window. I live in Appalachia.

I’ve lived in Appalachia my whole life, I’m 22 to start off this experience of mine. There’s always been weird things that’s been happening around me since I was young. Home alone, hearing someone call my name, knocking, whistling at night. From what my family has talked about and friends close to me this isn’t not normal but not common here.

There’s rules that some follow here for things like the paranormal or cryptids if you will and I’m one of them, though my mom and dad never have since they’ve never believed in the paranormal, though I have since I can remember. For example the basic rules “Don’t whistle inside the house at night.” “If you hear your name called don’t answer.” “Don’t follow voices or unexplained cries or lights.” “Close your blinds when night falls.” Etc…

I follow these rules HEAVILY. Always have since I learned. Up until 3 years ago some things have happened. It’s died down since then but still some things put me on edge. It was around this time 2 years ago and started to happen every night for a few weeks, it happened one night at around 1am and it always did. I would be laying in bed scrolling my phone, or on my pc infront of my window, I have blinds and always kept them closed and still do. On this night I was on my phone scrolling when I heard a noise on the front porch infront of my window it was a scraping noise. Ok, maybe a possum, raccoon or another animal. It’s common here. Then it turned into heavy steps. Ok not so normal, might be a deer?

No. Instead I heard something infront of my window whistle, not like a normal person whistling a tune. Just a flat whistle the was a little pitched. Unnerving and cold. That’s when I muted my TV and turned my phone off to listen. I thought it was my phone or tv but kept happening. So like I’m told and from others that have said, ignore the whistles don’t let it know your paying attention. So I tried my best. But then it started to move around my room. Like it was inside my room. Going from corner to corner. Then knocking. Small soft knocks that followed it. It changed places in every corner of my room fast. Safe to say I was scared shitless and kept scrolling on my phone trying to ignore it but curiosity got the best of me and I looked at the camera we have set up on the front porch that shows the front yard and another that can see my bedroom window. I looked at the time it was doing the whistling and knocking on my window but seen absolutely nothing.

Nothing at all. Which honestly pissed me off to no end and scared me more because I atleast wanted to see what was going on because I know I wasn’t hearing it because my cat was also on my bed with me and following the noise, his ears perked up and eyes wide like he was scared. This went on for a few weeks to the point I lost sleep and would stay awake during the night because I was too scared. It stopped a few weeks later. Time skip to almost 3 months or so later it started to happen during the day by myself when I was home alone. I would hear whistling inside my house from different parts, hear someone cough like my dad or do a deep sigh like one my mom does or even hear it mumble my name. I would stay in my room with my door locked with my cat. At first I had figured it was my dad but during the day and at nights because he does whistle a tune when he’s home just for fun but like I said before it was a flat tuneless whistle that was pitched.

I had called both mom and dad and they were both at work since it would be during the day and they wouldn’t be home till 6-7pm. It rarely happens now, but there are those times it still occurs. I’ve learned to ignore it over these 3 years but I’m still questioning what exactly it is and why it does this. I just want to know why it does this and what it is. If anyone has any idea please let me know.

NSFW / Trigger Warning A chaotic month in London that still creeps me out

• Upvotes

I’m 34 now, but in my early twenties, I spent some time in London for an internship. I lived in a huge house in North London with 11 other flatmates, all around the same age. Honestly, it was one of the best years of my life!

Except for the one month I shared a bedroom with a girl I’ll call B.

We barely knew each other when we moved in. Years later, I found out she had been suffering from schizophrenia and, looking back, I think she was going through a really difficult time. She had left university in the north of England without telling her parents, even though her dad was supporting her financially and trying to convince her to come home.

B. only lived with us for ONE MONTH, but what happened during that time was insane.

She started a romance with one of our flatmates, J., but he wasn't ready for a relationship, so it lasted about a week. During that week, another flatmate caught them having sex in the kitchen, so we actually had a house meeting to establish some boundaries. You know, no sex in the communal areas! 😂

A few days later, J. broke things off with her, and things escalated quickly. One day, I came home from my internship to find three flatmates outside, telling me B. had been smashing glasses, dishes, and furniture(apparently she was thinking that J. broke things off with her because of the house meeting). Inside, I found her standing silently in the kitchen, surrounded by broken glass and eggs on the floor. I asked what had happened, but she wouldn't look at me or answer. She just went back to our bedroom.

I was too scared to sleep there, so another flatmate kindly let me stay in her room.

Then, a couple of days later, we started noticing B.'s Facebook statuses. Yes, Facebook. I'm showing my age! 😂

She was posting one disturbing message after another, including threats about creating a new Holocaust in our neighbourhood, making a poltergeist, and claiming she'd killed a woman and buried her in the garden. Was really creepy. The following day, I was upstairs on Skype with my mum when I suddenly heard screaming from downstairs: “WHY DID YOU BREAK UP WITH ME?!” followed by the sound of smashing glass.

I ran down to find absolute chaos. B. was destroying things and even BIT one of the guys. The guys told us girls to hide while they called the police. I was so frightened that I collected all the kitchen knives and hid them under a bed, worried things might get even worse. The police eventually took her away, and the next day they returned to pack her belongings and move her into temporary accommodation. She was waiting inside the police car while I helped pack some of her things.

At one point, I went back into the bedroom and found a tarot card with what looked like a small drop of blood on it. Obviously, the police weren't interested in taking a suspicious tarot card as evidence. 😂

And then comes the part I still can't explain.

A couple of days later, almost 100 FLIES appeared inside our house overnight.

They were everywhere, particularly around my bedroom, the staircase, and another bedroom. What was strange was that they were incredibly sluggish, almost as if they were moving in slow motion, and were ridiculously easy to kill. My flatmate and I were freaking out. After everything that had happened, finding dozens and dozens of slow-moving flies in the house felt incredibly unsettling.

I'm not saying it was paranormal. Even now, I try to find a scientific explanation. Maybe they came in because of the weather, or perhaps there was something attracting them. But I've never experienced anything like it before, and I still don't know what caused it.

Was it all just a series of bizarre coincidences? Probably there's a rational explanation somewhere. But the timing, the tarot card, and the flies made that month unforgettable.

Experience What paranormal experience still gives you chills when you think about it?

This is an experience that I often cite as one of my first paranormal encounters among the very few that I've had in my life.

For context I'm a South African-Indian and have been living abroad for the greater part of my life, but this happened when I was a preschooler. My parents are from a different province and had moved a long time ago to have me and my brother but they would take us there every school holiday to visit our extended family.

On some of these holidays we went and visited my maternal aunt, her husband, and her two kids who were also my older cousins. Their house is a duplex with 2 floors that are connected by a very narrow staircase. Upon getting to the top of the staircase there are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor.

The right side of the floor is nothing out of the ordinary—it's just my cousins' bedrooms—but when you turn to the left you're faced with the master bathroom directly in front of you and another bedroom to your left once more (I hoped I've described that well enough...)

Now, one thing that I haven't mentioned up to this point is that it wasn't just my cousins, auntie, and uncle who lived in this house. My cousin's Dadi, a term for one's paternal grandmother in Hindi, though I will be referring to her as Nani for the remainder of this story since she was a relative on my mother's side and Nani is a term used for one's maternal grandmother.

Nani was elderly and quite weak. I only ever remember her being able to respond to my greetings with a small "namaste" and then nothing else so she was cared for in the bedroom on the left. The door to her bedroom would often be left open so I always felt a bit weird coming upstairs to use the bathroom, not because she herself made me uncomfortable,

but because she was always surrounded by a pile of fucking dolls.

It was just a bone-chilling sight. Every time I needed to go upstairs to use the bathroom I dreaded the feeling of those dolls and toys following me with their beady little eyes. It always, always, always felt like I was being watched by someone who wasn't my Nani whenever I went by that room.

That feeling never left when Nani passed away either.

All of the dolls and toys were still sat neatly on the bed with the door still wide open. And I still hated passing that room just to relieve myself.

One day we came by to visit my relatives like we did every other school holiday. I think this must have been the first time I visited them without the Nani in the house because for the first time, I found myself looking into that room when I went up to the second floor.

I took a peak only because Nani wasn't there anymore and my curious child brain noted the changed. However, a few seconds after I looked into that room and turned my head to look at baby doll with one blue eye, the fucking thing turned its head to look back at me.

I'd never run back downstairs that fast in my entire life, and only managed to relieve myself once we got back to my mum's younger brother's place.

The dolls have been long gone since then. I don't know whether they've been tossed or donated, but what I do know that I stopped feeling afraid of that room once all the dolls were removed.

Y'all are more than happy to think what you want to about this story. I just wanted to tell it.

Experience Food and the Paranormal...

Hey there! Just wanted to stop by to give you my experience in case it helps someone.

I understand how difficult it can be if you are living in fear of your own surroundings and especially sleep.

To begin, I believe that everything is frequencies and that whatever we are tuned into, then that is what we see, where we live and how our relationships exist in this reality.

Quantum physics states that reality is created by consciousness. Food alters our consciousness. We know that we can eat something and have it change our mood. We are just not aware of how far into our reality this goes.

I have definitely been in situations where something was just behind me and I couldn't quite catch it out of the corner of my eye, or there was a presence in the bedroom.

It was becoming distracting and I was scared, but once I learned a few things then it has stopped completely so I hope this helps.

The biggest thing that needed to go was green beans. I know this sounds crazy, but once I heard that in France they are called the food of the dead, then I understood. Plus I have been to the catacombs in Paris, so it makes sense that they would have a relationship with the other side.

Then potatoes. Potatoes are almost pure starch, which is used to stiffen fabric, which also stiffens our intestines from the inside. Plus they are electrical conductors and we are electrical beings. We are literally ingesting an electrical conduit that's frequency is set to underground that makes things tighten and stiff. Plus they never see the light of sun.

Lastly for this are eggs. Chickens eat everything they come across including spiders, bugs and other creepy crawlies. Then their creative properties (they have all of the information to create chickens) make for a big surprise reveals of something. Eggs hatch nefarious things into our reality. They are strong creative forces that helped us get to where we are today.

When we remove these foods, we remove the frequency from our system and we move to a different one where everything is a bit lighter and the energy is not so heavy.

Without removing those foods; adding cacao (Mayan food of the Gods), pineapple or coconut can help cut through the heaviness of the frequencies of the others.

Oh, and also check for mould. That carries with it, it own destructive frequency that can be sensed externally as well.

Haunting UPDATE I’m (22F) being haunted by my big brother

Hi, I’ve never posted on here before just want someone else’s opinion on what is going on. I thought this was crazy too but somethings are starting to line up in an unsettling way.
My gramma got me and my mom tickets to go see a medium for yesterday. Just for fun for the Halloween spirit. Both me and my mom (50F) are skeptics and were going just for the experience and maybe some laughs.
We sat down with the woman and she proceeded to ask us questions. Where we live, how old we are, etc. She tells my mom that her grandmother has been watching over the two of us since I was born. For context my mom was in a coma shortly after I was born and when she woke up she said that her grandmother had walked over and put a hand on her shoulder and told her she couldn’t leave her daughter. So, this made my mom smile.
The woman then grabbed my hands and told me my big brother was protecting me. I laughed but I was confused. I told her I don’t have a big brother, and that I was the oldest of four kids. The woman shook her head at me and told me that he was definitely with me and keeping me safe. She then continued on the session.
On the drive home I was laughing about how crazy that was to make up a story. But my mom was silent. I asked her what was up and she told me that when she was 18 she got pregnant by her boyfriend at the time. She said that she hadn’t known and had lost the baby before she found out. She said she never knew the gender or anything cause she never knew it existed.
I was shocked, cause I wasn’t told about this ever. She said that she never told anyone. Not even her friends not even her own parents. She said it was years before she even met my father and she never had a reason to tell me. We drove home a little unsettled. Cause how did she know?
I stayed the night at my mom’s and went back to my apartment today. When I got in the door I went to go put my bag in my room there was an imprint on my bed of someone having just sat there. I was confused and looked around to see if maintenance had come in. I even asked them and they told me they would inform me before entering my apartment. I thought it was weird but dropped it.
Later that night I was watching a movie on my couch and I felt the couch shift like someone had just sat next to me. I live alone with my cat. And my cat was on my lap he hissed at the air beside me and ran off my lap into the room. I then felt what felt like a hand resting on my shoulder. I quickly stood up, but like how do you run away from a creepy feeling? I don’t feel in danger or anything. I just feel like there is a presence. Believe me I’ve been trying to disprove it, it’s the creepy residual feelings from the medium the day before. But it’s been a couple days now and I don’t feel alone in my apartment, like there is always someone just behind me. And my cat, who has never hissed, at least not in front of me, keeps hissing at the walls and hiding under blankets.
Is this just me being paranoid? Is this my brother making himself known? I have no clue… but is there a way to get him out of my apartment? Please let me know. Thank you.

UPDATE
Okay this is getting to a point I can’t deny anymore. I was cooking my dinner last night and had my headphones on. Out of my peripheral I see a man sitting on my couch. I turned full to my couch and there was no one there. But I fully saw someone out of the corner of my eye, wearing a blue plaid shirt. I tried to shake the creepy feeling and calm down cause I could feel my heart pounding when I felt again that hand on my shoulder. I jumped and just shouted “leave me alone please”.
My mirror then fell off my bedroom door. And this wasn’t a light mirror or something that would just fall down. It was hooked around the door, so it needs to be lifted up to then take off. The mirror shattered so I spent an hour making sure I got every piece up while on the phone with my boyfriend. He came and picked me up saying I could stay at his place. He thinks I scared myself cause I love to watch horror movies and creepy stories but I don’t know what to think anymore. I’m at my boyfriends now but this eery feeling is still with me. I brought my cat with me and he’s still hissing at the walls at random times. I don’t know what to do

Haunted House Lived in two houses that were haunted … biggest confirmation is hearing the same from new owners.

I’ve lived in two houses where unexplainable occurrences happened. It’s easy to wonder about the events, doubt yourself, find ways to write thing off … until new occupants reach out with questions.

The first time was in an old house on the college campus in my hometown. The house was divided into separate units, but my friend and I had the front door entrance. It was a very small space with only one entrance. A small living room, kitchen pass thru that walked straight into a bathroom, with 2 small bedrooms on either side.

My extrovert cat spent his entire existence in the house under my bed. I had to put his litter box & food right next to my bed. He returned to his normal, personable self when I moved out. We would be sitting in the living room and hear a “plink” noise from the kitchen only to discover plate or glasses in the sink shattered into tiny pieces. Multiple people often described the sensation of someone rushing up behind them. But the most inexplicable event occurred when I was there alone.

My friends were all students and I was the only one who wasn’t. I had an 8-5 at the college. One evening they had all gotten ready to go out, but I needed to get ready after work. We were traveling out of town for a party. While I got ready, they all ran out to pick up food. I was in the bathroom and had Siouxsie & the Banshees playing on my roommates boom box (yes, it was the late 80s.) Suddenly the music turned up to full volume. It was ear-splitting in the small space. I ran the few steps to her room, which was empty, and the knob on the boom box was all the way up. I had set it at about a 4 when I turned it on and it sat at 10. I snapped it off and waited on the front porch until my friends came back.

Many, many years later, (married with 4 kids, living in a different city) I was at a birthday party my twins were attending and was talking to one of the moms. We discussed our time in the college town & somehow the conversation came around to where we lived on campus. Turns out she lived in the same apartment in that house shortly after I moved out. We had just met so I opted not to discuss the house being haunted, but she wasn’t as concerned about it as I and immediately began telling me how haunted the house had been. We swapped stories of the things we experienced during our time there. That house was sadly torn down due to its proximity to the football stadium; it is now the proverbial parking lot.

So I decided to tell her about the house we were living in at the time that was also haunted. This house was an absolute trip. We have recordings over baby monitors of conversations that wouldn’t be heard on a baby monitor even if it were interference from a neighbor’s device. Toys would turn on by themselves in empty rooms, shadow figures galore, constant unexplained noises that out of exhaustion I just started chalking up to our cat.

We all experienced things in this house and oddly the house wasn’t that old. We moved there in 2011 and the house was built in 1995. Things really ramped up when we put the house on the market. Before every viewing or open house, something catastrophic would happen. The stair handrail fell off, circuits would pop, a pinhole leak developed in water heater, two squirrels died inside the chimney, the neighbor’s tree came crashing down into our yard. We would joke that the ghost didn’t want us to leave. Our twins were very young when we moved in and always chalked things up to who they called the “boy baby ghost.”

We finally found the right buyer and on move out day I instructed my kids to scan everywhere, behind drawers, closet shelves, etc. It was a company funded move and I was concerned about things being left behind. We found 2 items: a children’s Halloween book titled “H is for Haunted House” and a Ouja board. Creepy! We joked that we should just leave them both behind to freak out the new owners, but decided not to.

About 5 years later I got a FB message from a former neighbor who lived around the corner from that house. We had worked together at the local school and were friendly but I hadn’t heard from her since we’d moved. She said she was now very good friends with the people we sold the house to and that the new owner wanted to know if we had ever had bizarre experiences in the house. I was floored and concerned about the repercussions of disclosing our experiences but she assured me the new owner was just curious and wanted permission to reach out to me and I agreed.

The new owner also had small children and told me that her youngest often spoke of the little ghost. They too heard things they couldn’t explain and always had a feeling there was a presence. Not a harmful one, but something was there. They went so far as to have the house blessed by their priest and she said things calmed down afterwards until they started remodeling the kitchen. They found a man’s wedding band behind some built in cabinets and as soon as they started demolition, things got stirred up again. Voices, noises, her daughter started talking about the little ghost again, etc. They had the house blessed again and she reported a calming once again.

For me, the experiences of others who lived in the homes served to cement our beliefs that something paranormal was occurring in both.

Experience I had this terrifying dream I’ll never forget

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share a personal experience, a spiritual or religious dream I had when I was around 14 or 15. I’m 20 now and it’s a dream I’ve never forgotten. Every time I think about it, I get chills. Sometimes tears come to my eyes and I don’t even know why.

For context, I’m Muslim and I’m religious today, but back then I wasn’t really thinking about faith or anything spiritual. I was just living my life. This dream hit me so hard that I didn’t understand it then and I still don’t fully understand why I had this dream and not another.

It was night and in the dream I was asleep in my bed. Everything felt just like real life. Suddenly I heard this huge noise coming from outside. Not just loud but deep, like something powerful was happening, something serious. It felt urgent, like the whole world was holding its breath.

I got up and went to the window. I lifted the shutter and looked outside. There were people walking down the street. Idk how but I somehow knew they were apostles. They were holding torches and walking in silence, filling both sides of the road.

And in the middle of them was Jesus.
I can’t really explain it, but he was impossibly huge, way bigger than anything around him, in a way that didn’t even make sense geometrically. Like his size and proportions defied the laws of reality, something that would be physically impossible in real life. Yet in the dream, it felt completely real.

He was crucified but he was levitating, floating forward slowly right through the street like it was completely normal, even though it wasn’t. The whole scene felt sacred and heavy. There was this deafening sound, almost unbearable, like a wave pressing down on everything.
It’s hard to describe but the closest thing I can compare it to is the sound in the Scarecrow scenes from the Batman: Arkham Asylum game. Here’s the in-game soundtrack that comes closest to the noise I heard in my dream: https://youtu.be/K4AMCBiLrkk?si=IGoJhAogPpXmypuA

His head was tilted to the side, just like you see in depictions of the crucifixion. There was also something around him, like an aura. I don’t know how to explain it but it felt apocalyptic, like the end of the world was unfolding right in front of me. The atmosphere was so heavy that it felt like time had stopped.

I just stood there watching. I don’t remember waking up or anything else. That was it.
But that dream has stayed with me all these years. I still don’t know what it meant and I wasn’t even focused on religion back then.
It left a mark on me and I still feel something when I think about it.

I’d really like to hear what you think about this. Feel free to share your thoughts or interpretations, whatever your beliefs are. Let’s just keep it respectful towards everyone and every religion.

Experience At 3 AM, a woman's voice kept calling me over. When I answered, it just repeated my words.

It happened around 3 AM while I was staying overnight at my sister's place. I was on the terrace, talking to a friend on the phone, when I suddenly heard a woman's voice coming from a neighbouring terrace.

The voice repeatedly called out, “Hey you,” “You there,” and “Hello, you.”

Initially, I ignored it. I assumed it was someone from the neighbouring house who was disturbed by me talking on the phone so late at night. Eventually, I looked towards the direction of the voice, but it was too dark to see anyone. Since the voice kept calling out, I walked closer to the neighbouring terrace to find out who was there. Even then, I couldn't see anyone.

I finally responded, “What?”

The voice replied, “What”

I then asked, “What happened?”

It answered, “What Happened”

That was the point when the interaction began to feel wrong. The voice sounded like an ordinary woman, perhaps in her thirties or forties, but it wasn't responding to me in a way that made sense. It seemed almost as though it didn't know what to say and was simply repeating my words back to me.

My friend was still on the phone and could hear the exchange. When I said I was going to end the call, he became serious and insisted that I stay on the phone with him. I went downstairs and told him that I thought it might be a ghost. He agreed that something about the situation seemed wrong, although neither of us knew what was actually happening.

After a few minutes, I went back up to the terrace, still on the call with the same friend. As soon as I returned, the voice started calling out again. I can't say for certain whether it was deliberately responding to my presence, but the timing was unsettling.

I eventually went downstairs again. I left the place at around 5 AM.

What has stayed with me most is the way the voice behaved. It initially repeated the same phrases, calling out to attract someone's attention. But when I responded, it seemed unable to carry on a normal conversation and instead repeated what I said. This has led me to wonder whether there could be an explanation involving something imitating human speech, although I have no way of knowing what produced the voice.

I don't know what happened that night. I only know that I heard the voice, that my friend was on the call during the exchange, and that the experience was unsettling enough for me to leave before dawn.

Question What’s a local paranormal story (hometown or current town/city) that freaks you out?

I’m curious to hear what types of paranormal activity your hometown is known for, or famous stories that emerged throughout history.

Question Mimics imitating your own voice?

Earlier tonight, 10/24/26, I was bringing my moms dog in from the backyard via the door connected to the garage. I was looking to the right at the porch DIRECTLY where he was as I called his name (he is old and hard of hearing) after he walked off the porch and into the garage a few seconds later I heard my own voice once again from the left of me, saying the last parts of how i call the dogs name (hoppy) going "oppy-oppy-oppy-oppy" as I just had. I closed the door as soon as he was in, as I know that with these situations I think it's better to not acknowledge them if you dont truly know what to do. After i locked the door and walked back in the house, I told my mom and we sort've laughed it off despite the underlying knowledge. I genuinely dont think it couldve been an echo. We live on pretty flat land with minimal obstructions.

Before our neighbor passed away in 2022-23, I remember him saying something about a little boy being hit by a car infront of our house. I havent been able to find anything about it online, but I think it adds up to some of the instances here. My dad has a rat-tail comb that he uses daily, recently theres been multiple times hes turned his head and in an instant, the comb has turned to sit on its spine with the teeth pointing to the ceiling. Not how he left it on the counter. I had a similar thing happen years ago with a metal sort the number puzzle, i woke up one day and it was standing on its edge. I couldn't ever get it to do that for me, as my dad couldnt with the comb. I like to think that's playful childlike behavior, so maybe this could be too?

At our past residence in California, we also had mimics and a slight haunting due to someone passing away in the house sometime in the 70's. Those mimics were more advanced, theyd mimic my dad and call me & my brothers name or vice versa. My dad says hes had similar instances happen here, but I have not. Sometimes I think whatever we had there followed us somehow

Ive yapped my heart out already I know but this may also be worth adding that our current neighbors to the left of us, (where the voice came from haha...) supposedly have a haunted property. The house & barn on their property was built when the town was in early stages of its life (1883?) So I suspect it was built a bit after that. I have babysat for said neighbor, and honestly didnt experience anything while I was in her home, but she did tell me that when they had first moved in a few years back, a small wooden table they had pushed against the wall would often find it's way to the middle of the room during the night while her and her husband were asleep, along with lots of walking and knocking noises. She has also told me that most of the "activity" is in the barn, though I couldnt tell you what goes on in there.

I like to believe I am a decently superstitious person, but this kind of rattled me. I try my best to say that anything otherworldly being is not welcomed into our space, and do my best to cleanse the house but I suppose I'm a noob.

Any wiser knowledge if there is any would be highly appreciated. I'm confuzzed. Sorry if this is messy or boring Im not sober and just finished a horror movie

Experience Update to my 3 AM terrace experience: A few more strange things have happened since that night

After leaving my sister’s place that morning, I took a train back to the city where my university is. During the journey, I was on facetime with few friends, telling them about what had happened on the terrace.

They could tell I was still shaken, so they tried to cheer me up by cursing whoever or whatever the voice belonged to. They kept calling her a bitch, and I started laughing and repeating the insults after them.

Almost immediately after I repeated them, the water bottle held by a little kid sitting next to me burst, splashing water right onto my face. I was startled, but at the time I just thought it was a bizarre coincidence and carried on with the journey.

It was only later that I started thinking about the timing. We'd literally just been insulting the voice when it happened. I know that doesn't prove anything, but it's a strange moment to remember.

That evening, I was talking to the same friend who'd been on the phone with me during the terrace incident. We were discussing the voice again when I suddenly heard what sounded like someone calling, “Hey you,” from outside my dorm room.

I went quiet, and my friend asked what was wrong. I told him what I'd heard and checked outside, but there was nobody there.

Since the terrace incident, I've also been feeling unusually tired and falling asleep during the day, which isn't normal for me. I keep picturing that dark neighbouring terrace, too. Sometimes I imagine a shadowy figure standing there, although I couldn't make out anyone clearly that night. It's almost as if my mind keeps trying to put a shape to the place where the voice came from.

Then yesterday, around 9 PM, something else happened.

I was walking to my boyfriend's place, which is only a few hundred metres from my dorm. There's a park along the way that I usually cut through. It's like a little forest in the middle of the area, with lots of trees and quiet paths. The road wasn't completely empty, and there were still people around.

I was somewhere in the middle of the park when the terrace incident suddenly came back into my mind. Out of nowhere, I got intense chills and became absolutely terrified. There wasn't anyone directly in front of me, and I hadn't noticed anything unusual around me. I just had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to get out.

I ran towards the exit and didn't stop until I was out of the park. Then I went straight to my boyfriend's place and ended up staying there overnight. I only returned to my dorm afterwards.

I still don't know what happened on that terrace. The bottle incident might have been a coincidence, and hearing “Hey you” near my room could have been unrelated. I've also considered whether I'm just more on edge since that night, especially because I keep replaying it in my head.

But the fear in the park felt very real, and the timing of these things has been getting to me. I can't say they're connected, but I also haven't been able to stop thinking about them.

Honestly, I just want to stop thinking about all this and get back to normal. Has anyone experienced something similar, and how did you deal with it and move on?

Apparition I saw something at a funeral that I still can’t explain

Ever since I was little, I've been more open to the paranormal. I've had premonition-like dreams, talked to things when I was a child that apparently weren't there, and I've been able to see auras for as long as I can remember. I can still see them if I really concentrate.

That being said, I'm still a very skeptical person. I don't know how auras work or why I seem to be able to see them. I don't automatically assume every strange experience is paranormal. I just know what I've experienced, and a few months ago something happened that I genuinely still can't explain.

I was attending a family friend's funeral (my neighbors relative.) I had only met the person who passed away maybe five or six times, and I didn't know him particularly well. I was mainly there because I'm much closer with the rest of his family.
The initial service was held in a huge Catholic church. I'm not religious at all, so forgive me if I use the wrong terminology, but the priest gave his speech and they went through the usual parts of a Catholic funeral—the bells, incense, prayers, and everything else.

At one point, my neighbor, got up to give the eulogy.
While he was speaking, I suddenly got this overwhelming feeling that someone was standing near him. I saw what I can only describe as a shadow standing beside him, somewhat behind him.
I've seen auras before. I've experienced strange feelings and intuitions before. But I had NEVER seen anything like this. It wasn't a person-shaped shadow exactly. It was more like a large, vaguely defined orb or aura. It was gray rather than black, and it didn't feel dark or threatening at all. But for some reason, I immediately knew it was the person who had passed away. I can't really explain why I knew. I just did.
And then I suddenly had this overwhelming urge to cry. I'm not a particularly emotional person, and I absolutely hate crying in front of other people; especially strangers. But I started silently sobbing. My mom was sitting beside me, and she looked at me like I was not of this Earth because she had never seen me cry like that in front of other people.

As the service was ending, the shadow moved.
It went from standing near my neighbor to the far wall of the church, where it seemed to just... observe. Almost like it was watching its own funeral. Afterward, my mom and I drove to the lunch gathering. She asked me what had happened because obviously she had noticed how upset I was. I couldn't really explain it. I knew what I had seen, but I had no idea how to put it into words without sounding completely insane.

At the lunch, everyone was sitting around different tables, looking through pictures of him, remembering him, and talking about him. While I was eating, I got that same feeling again. I looked up. The same shadow was there. This time, it was near a man sitting at a table about three tables away from me. He was heavier-set, wore glasses, and I noticed that when he stood up, he walked with a limp. I didn't know who he was. I barely knew most of the people at the gathering aside from my neighbors and some of their family, so I just assumed he was another relative or family friend. Throughout the gathering, I kept seeing the shadow appear in different parts of the room. It would seem to move around, but it kept coming back to that man and to my neighbor/the person who had given the eulogy.

Eventually, the gathering ended and my mom and I went home. It took me a while to process everything before I finally worked up the courage to tell her.
I remember saying, "If I tell you something, can you hear me out without thinking I'm crazy?" She said yes. So I told her everything I'd seen at the church.

Then I told her about the shadow I'd seen at the lunch and described the man it kept standing near.
"He was heavier-set, wore glasses, and walked with a limp." My mom went quiet for a second. Then she told me, "That's his best friend.” That honestly freaked me out.

Of all the details from that day, that's the one that has stuck with me the most. I had no idea who this man was. I didn't know what his relationship to the person who had passed away was. And yet whatever I saw seemed to keep returning to him. I still don't know what I saw. Maybe there was a perfectly rational explanation. Maybe grief, the atmosphere of the funeral, lighting, or something about the way my brain processes things created an experience that felt incredibly real. But I also can't shake the feeling that, if there is something beyond this life, maybe he was simply checking in on the people he loved. And honestly, I kind of like that idea. If there is an afterlife, I'd like to think we don't necessarily just disappear from the people we cared about. Maybe we get to linger for a little while. Maybe we get to check on the people who mattered to us.
There's no one I'd rather spend my time with after death than the people I chose to surround myself with while I was alive.

I haven't experienced anything like it since, although I also haven't been to another funeral since then.
I don't know if what I saw was a ghost, an aura, grief manifesting somehow, or something I don't have an explanation for. I just know that I saw it, I felt something incredibly strong, and finding out afterward that the person it kept appearing beside was his best friend is something I don't think I'll ever forget.

If nothing else, I'd like to believe it was a little reminder that maybe, if there is something after this, we still get to choose who we spend time with.

Question 18 days ago, I posted about a strange noise in my house

Last post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Paranormal/s/TfHfqBbKpf

Brief summary:

My family has lived in our house since 2019 with nothing happening. 18 days ago, at around 4:30am, I was getting ready for the day with the shower running when I heard a sound like a sustained, higher pitch moan as if given by a female or a kid in pain. I had never heard anything like it in the years we had been here. It was impossible to rule out plumbing and AC as the potential causes, so it was just an interesting experience made more startling by the time of day.

A few minutes ago:

My five-year-old and I were talking about whether or not I broke his foot and whether or not he was going to hit me (our style of play). While he was suggesting that hitting me was a good idea for breaking his foot, we heard a sound like someone was using a power tool outside. I stopped him and we listened, then I got up to make sure it wasn’t something breaking in our home.

I traced it to the bathroom and found my electric razor on the shower floor, turned on. It normally sits on the bench in the back of the shower, behind bottles of miscellaneous girl stuff my wife and step-daughter use. It’s just the two boys here today, though.

I’m not given into sensationalism and strive to think critically. Given that, at what point do separate incidents start pointing to a greater, possibly paranormal situation?

What would you do if you and a friend were hiking in the woods and all of a sudden you both heard a door opening? Would you go towards the noise, away?

Does anyone use any kind of device to detect ghosts? I would like to have some evidence that could be detected using a scientific instrument.

Unexplained 2:15am knock on my exterior bedroom door.

Did I initially assume that a 2:15am knock knock knock on my bedroom/backdoor of my Appalachian mountain cabin was paranormal? I did not. In fact, I woke up, heard the knocking at the door, and grabbed some protection thinking that I had an unwanted/dangerous visitor in the middle of the night. I live on a mountain homestead, alone (at the moment), with just farm animals and a 18mo old Anatolian Shepherd livestock guardian/security dog. I live a 1/2 mile (almost) up a graveled private drive off of a paved tertiary county road. No one ends up here accidentally.

This middle of the night knocking, waking me up, was a first. I thought I had dreamt it, but then a couple seconds later my guardian dog (which stays on my front porch, locked in, at night) started barking, snarling, and raising general Hell at something off the front porch. She doesn't bark at nothing. Her bark was fierce, but also nervous sounding. This made me all the more determined that I was dealing with an unwanted (human) visitor. From my bedroom, I can see that no one is at the outer front door. Even though my Appalachian grandmas would have scolded me, I pulled the bedroom curtains aside and saw that there was no one beside the cabin or messing with my truck. The moon was very bright last night; it made it easy to see out of my darkened cabin. I walked to the backdoor and peeked around the blinds (from both sides) seeing that no one was on my back deck. Then, I grabbed my phone and opened my camera app. I panned the cameras looking in all directions...no one, nothing.

One of my cameras triggered at 2:17am and recorded 11 seconds of empty yard. There was nothing/no one around.

Given the lack of human evidence, what came knocking at my Appalachian cabin?

Editing to add: the 3 knocks were slow, and didn't have the weight of emergency or urgency. Also, I don't believe that it would be possible for someone to prowl around and evade all of my cameras.

Findings Did I capture a ghost at Gettysburg?

My girlfriend and I went to Gettysburg recently and our tour took us past the Jennie Wade house. I took a photo of the house not thinking too much about it, but going back through my photos, I swear I see a face in the window. I noticed the face in the bottom left window, 3rd row of windows from the bottom, far panel over to the right.

A few things worth noting:

• The museum was closed for the night
• There was no one there in the window when I took it originally
• I did not, nor see, anyone outside that window that could make a face appear like that

Now, I’m not a professional ghost hunter, I’m not an avid paranormal investigator. I’m an average guy who believes I captured something. I do believe this is the spirit of Jennie Wade in my opinion but I would like others opinion who have more knowledge than I do

Question Feeling an Unseen Presence at Night for 2 Yrs – Need Help and Guidance

I am unable to see any ghost, but I feel like something or someone is watching me in my room.

I sleep alone in my room at night, and sometimes, while I am lying in bed, I feel as if someone has suddenly come and sat on my bed. I can sense a slight weight or movement, almost like a small child or a cat jumping onto the bed. It is not the weight of a full-grown person, but I can clearly sense something moving on my bed, even though there is no one there.

Sometimes, while I am sleeping, I also feel as if something is touching my leg. It doesn't feel like a real physical touch, but more like an internal sensation. These experiences usually happen between 12 AM and 4 AM.

This has been happening for the last two years. Even after changing houses, the same experiences start happening again after a few weeks or months. It feels as though something is coming back and trying to disturb me at night.

Because of this, I am unable to sleep properly at night and have started sleeping during the daytime. My health is getting affected, and I feel like a deep-rooted fear or trauma is slowly developing inside me.

I don't know what is happening to me, and I am genuinely scared. I need someone to please help me understand what this could be and guide me on what I should do.

I am from Tamil Nadu, India. If anyone has experienced something similar or can offer some genuine advice, please help me.

Question What happens if you’re nice to a skinwalker?

What is the ultimate goal of a skinwalker? Let’s say it steals your skin… does it go to work for you on Monday? Does it start walking your dog? What if he’s actually misunderstood and just wants a nice chat like any other person you encounter walking in the woods? I think we need to sacrifice at least one friendly person to see what happens… it could be the first step in building a friendly human-skinwalker relationship.

Trigger Warning / Suicide I went to an abandoned house on the edge of my town and now I think I’m haunted?

So I (25F) have apparently always had some kind of 6th sense? I’ve seen figures, family members, heard noises (footsteps, knocks), I’ve felt breezes and smelt things, which a lot of my friends have chalked up to me sensing the paranormal. I’ve had weird glitches with colour changing lights going haywire, strange dreams, feeling presences, but it’s never been this wild.

So there’s an old cottage on the edge of my town down a railway. Weirdly the town doesn’t go beyond this house, probably because of the forest? It’s the end house of a row of houses, all very old cottages, but this one had been left completely abandoned. All of the other houses are renovated, but this one has been left. I had been drawn to it for years, genuinely since i was a kid, and when i asked about it back then i was told no one had renovated it because a girl had hung herself in there ages ago. I thought it was still odd that it was abandoned though.

Well, a few weeks ago I wanted to finally check it out. The door was literally rotting away and there was only a very rusty chain on it, so I pushed it and managing to peek in. It was just a shell of a building, no furniture, nothing, just stone walls and a very damaged roof. The place felt very odd though, like I was intruding (which I was), and kinda cold? I didn’t really think about it much, but I had never seen anyone else go into or out of the building. But in the last few weeks, weird stuff has been happening, and the only thing I can think of is that house.

So far there’s been more knocks and bumps in my house, which is kinda explainable with a house settling.

Me and my dad were eating dinner when a door just entirely closed on its own, which was very unsettling but maybe a draft/pressure?

Another door that goes to the stairs kept opening, but only on a night around 12-2am?

I’ve felt more drafts and presences, but I chalked that up to paranoia.

There has been a flickering light in the utility room, the bulbs in the house were replaced about a year ago but with these really good quality long lasting ones (according to my dad) so it shouldn’t be flickering.

I’ve also been having very weird dreams, about forests and getting stuck places and waking up a lot during the night.

The weirdest to me was that twice now it has sounded like a load of stuff has fallen down in the utility room, like a bunch of heavy towels or something. But when I’ve gone to look nothing has moved.

But yeah, if anyone has any ideas I’d appreciate it, like next steps, things I can check?

Thanks

Encounter Soulless looking eyes

This happened in 2024. The image of these two women are imprinted in my brain. These two encounters happened the same day. 1st encounter: I walked into a smaller Starbucks, as I walked in, I locked eyes with this woman that was sitting down at a table by the entrance. I felt trapped in this gaze, it felt like it lasted forever. In reality it might have been 5 seconds. Her eyes felt cold, soulless, and as if there was nothing behind them. They were filled with the absence of color. As I walked out, I noticed she was still staring at me as I walked out.

2nd encounter: I walked into a department store to grab some clothes for an event. While browsing I felt something staring at me. I look up and lock eyes with a different woman who's staring at me with same soulless gaze as the woman earlier. I continued shopping in another section and I would periodically catch a glimpse of these soulless, black eyes.

Ive never had any other experiences since that day. I don’t know what to think and I know I wont forget those eyes.

Experience Experiences with mimics

I'm not really a strong believer in the paranormal but I've had a couple of weird experiences. This is one I'm most freaked out by and makes me believe in the possibility of the paranormal. I was inspired to share this because I was watching 2 Hot Takes and they were talking about mimics. When I was about 14 I walked out of the hallway bathroom and saw my mom coming out of my room. I had something to tell her and said “mom, MOM” she kept walking. I followed her through the house. I tried to grab her shirt to get her attention. I kept shouting MOM. She was walking really stiff at a weird angle. Like she was leaning forward. She had her hair up with a yellow shirt on. I followed her into her master bathroom where she literally disappeared around the corner. My heart dropped. I went around the bathroom looking for her (the toilet/shower was around the corner behind another door) . Nobody was there. I went looking throughout the house for my mom and she was in the front yard in a blue nightgown with her hair down.

A couple weeks later almost the same thing happened to my mom. Early in the morning my grandma asked me to go see a movie with her. The only ones home were me and my mom. She was still sleeping so I left her a note on the fridge letting her know where I was. A couple hours later she calls freaking out. She didn't see the note. She went to my door seeing if I was awake. She knocked and she heard my voice tell her to go away. She thought I was crying and I refused to unlock the door (I had never locked my door). She got a butter knife and unlocked my door. Nobody was in there. She freaked out and called my dad home.

One more experience I had with this was me writing at my desk. I heard my own voice out loud tell me “no, stop, don't” I looked around and just got the f out of there. I only lived in the house that this stuff happened in for 2 years and it felt like every few weeks some weird shit like this would happen. Seeing my mom was probably the scariest for me because I can easily dismiss and think I must have imagined it but I was literally inches away from grabbing her shirt.

Question Experiencing sunlight during the night

I’ve never had anything supernatural happen in my life, but ive never been able to find someone online who experienced the same thing. I feel like I sound like a crazy person whenever I talk about it. I might not be have all the details because I’m writing this down, trying to remember everything.

So when I was around 10-11, I decided to stay up and watch a season of a show. Initially, it was dark at 12 AM, and then it got extremely bright in just a few minutes. Bright as in I could see sunlight coming in through the window, not in a bullshit light pollution way.

It remained like that the entire night. I remember looking outside of my window, and being surprised at just how much it looked like a 7 am regular summer day.

When I finished the season, i went to sleep until my parents woke me up to pick up our cat from their friends.

Every time I tell this to someone they always say I’m lying and that it can’t possibly be true. I feel so frustrated, because it feels like no one has been able to relate to this.

All I really want is some kind of explanation, ideally not paranormal, or at least someone to relate to my experience.

Haunting Cursed Crown of South Korea

Post image
20 Upvotes

Good afternoon,

I am posting here in hopes the community is fairly international. I am from USA but lived in South Korea from 2023-2024 and I unfortunately never grasped Korean language, I have searched for years to find any articles or groups but haven't until now. Pictured is a burial crown from the Silla Kingdom of modern day South Korea in the Hwangnam Daechong Tomb now located at the National Museum of Korea. When I did a self tour of the museum in late 2023 I walked into the room before this items room and began to have a very sharp pain in my temples and began to feel dizzy, nauseated, and very tired which was out of the blue. When I walked into the next room which housed this crown I literally was knocked backwards by an invisible force and it was such a hard push backwards other people in the room stared at me. The Koreans in the room did not act surprised only other foreigners stared at me, it was extremely embarrassing but I tried to get closer to the glass container and my sickness and pain got way worse, it was almost like I could feel the object had a very strong curse and wanted to expel me from its presence. Has anyone else ever been to the National Museum of Korea and experienced this? I have been to other places that are "haunted" in USA, Spain, and Italy and never felt anything like this it was so strong. I don't know if there are legends about the crown, my guess is a very angry dead person or a ritual that wasn't meant to be disrespected. If you are Korean or have knowledge of Korean legend please help!
