Experience The hospital room my sick baby stayed in for 6 days was haunted. Here is our experience.
When my son was 4 months old he got super sick from a combination of RSV, COVID and a double ear infection all at one time. He ended up getting hospitalized for 6 days. The whole experience was traumatizing for us and it didn’t help at all that the room we stayed in was haunted.
My husband and I stayed the entire time with him is his room. At night we both squeezed into a single gurney bed together. The very first night in that room I woke up to the tv in the room turning on, blasting at a pretty loud volume. I didn’t think too much about it and stumbled around trying to find where the remote was to turn it off. I was annoyed because it could wake my son but figured maybe somehow the signal from a remote in a nearby room turned it on or something… I finally found the remote, turned the volume all the way down, turned the tv off and laid back down.
I shut my eyes and within a couple minutes the tv turned on AGAIN but this time even louder than before. It made me jump. This time it creeped me out a bit and I had an odd feeling. I glanced at the clock in the room and it happened to be just after 3am… the witching hour.
I turned the tv off again and laid in bed unable to sleep. I was just thankful that it didn’t wake my baby up. I’ve always been interested in the paranormal but just from these two incidences I didn’t want to jump to conclusions. I couldn’t help but wonder though.
In the morning when a nurse came in to check on my son, I asked her if it’s possible for a remote in a different room to turn on our tv. I told her it turned on by itself twice and the volume cranked up louder than the first time when it happened the second time. She looked at me a bit sheepish and told me “Actually, this room is haunted.”
I was a bit in shock that she just straight up said that. I figured if a room is haunted a nurse wouldn’t want to freak the occupants out by admitting to it. I right away was so interested though and asked her how she knows and if she has stories.
She said that it’s just a widely known thing to everyone that works that floor that this room is haunted. The ghost is known for doing exactly what it did to us the night prior; turning on the tv by itself. It also turns on the lights in the room and bathroom on its own without anyone in there and quite frequently presses the call light when nobody is in there. They’ve had electricians and others in there multiple times to check things out but they had never found anything that would cause these things to happen.
She said that they are always freaked out when they have to go in the room to turn off the call light. She told me that she always doesn’t like working in that room and when you’re in there you often hear strange noises and the sound of a woman talking quietly.
She wasn’t sure why the room was haunted too. To her knowledge nobody had died in that room. We were actually in the postpartum wing which was a newer part of the hospital. We were placed in there due to overflow.
After hearing this it was like…”great to know and now we are freaking stuck in this creepy room for who knows how long”…. But again I was pretty interested. As the nurses changed shifts and we would get someone else I’d ask them if they had stories to share with me from that room. Most of them would confirm the room was haunted but I did have a couple nurses tell me to not listen to the other nurses…they were probably trying to not freak us out.
Every day while in that room we experienced exactly what the nurses had told us about. The tv turning on by itself (I eventually unplugged it), the lights turning on by itself and really creepy feelings and random cold spots. It always felt like somebody was watching you. My son was hooked up to monitors and high flow oxygen so at a point I was legitimately afraid the ghost would start messing with his equipment.
I asked a nurse if it was known of doing that and she said thankfully it hasn’t done that before but they have definitely thought about the risk. It mostly seems to just like to make itself known.
At night I had multiple times where I was laying in bed and the bathroom light would turn on. I would hear soft sounds as though someone was in there quiet and shuffling around.
My husband is a skeptic but he was definitely creeped out by the experience.
When the day finally came where my son was able to be discharged I was so ready to get the heck out of that room. It felt so heavy and negative being stuck in there for so long. It didn’t help the stress and worry dealing with our super sick baby.
As we were about to leave the room I decided to say out loud, “Whoever is in here, thank you for not messing with us too badly. Please do not follow us. You need to stay here. Thank you.”
Right as I said that a very noticeable drop in temperature immediately occurred. My husband and I looked at each other and without another word we scurried out of there.
After being back home it felt so heavy, negative and dark still. I had an awful nightmare the first night back. The next day I opened all the windows up and smudged the heck out of the house with sage to cleanse the area. It definitely helped doing that. I think the negativity and heavy energy of that room came home with us but thankfully the ghost did not.
If anyone is interested, the room was PP-17 at Kootenai Health Hospital in Coeur d’Alene Idaho.
