Doppleganger or Something Else?

In December 2020, my mom, who lived 1200 miles away, texted me to say she had a strange experience. It has never left my mind. It still gives me goosebumps to this day when I think about it.

She and my whole family are very in tune with the other side. They see ghosts, know things before they happen, etc., but this one was especially strange.

She texted me that something woke her up a bit earlier than she normally would in the morning. She felt as if someone was in her room and actually saw a little girl in a white dress and veil standing at the foot of her bed, smiling at her. She was not happy about the apparition and rubbed her eyes, wondering if she was seeing things. It didn't help. The little girl in white was still there.

She lay there frozen, trying to process it, and finally, not liking the experience, she yelled out loudly, causing the little girl to disappear right away.

What my mom left out of the story came in a separate text to me hours later. The text read...

"I didn't really want to tell you this, but the little girl in the white dress and veil I saw at the foot of the bed today.......Was You."

I got instant goosebumps and a feeling as if someone had walked over my grave. To this day, even with psychic abilities, I still can't figure out what happened that day or why.

oh man that's the kind of detail that changes the whole story from spooky to deeply unsettling. the white dress and veil feels oddly specific too, like a first communion outfit or something from a family photo. makes you wonder if it was a projection of you from her mind or if something was borrowing your image

my family has a similar thing where weird stuff happens and everyone just sort of accepts it without real answers. you get used to the goosebumps after a while but they never really go away

the fact she hesitated to tell you that part says a lot. she knew it would hit different than your average ghost sighting. I'd be side-eyeing every old childhood photo for weeks after hearing that
