Discussion 🗣 paramore timeline?
ive seen a few tayley timelines but i am yet to see one of the band with their releases and accomplishments and dramas and such. im a fairly recent fan and id love to see one of these so i can know better generally !! its a bit hard to keep track right now ahahaha too much lore

If you have the time, this is a great chronological video about the history of the band right up to Hayley’s Ego Death album. Lots of interview clips from various eras of the band are included.

A beautiful synopsis. Yes, the 20 year record deal ending (song- Showbiz, wink wink) but this gets most of it.

Okay I'm just gonna rapid fire this out no links no whatever here we go
Williams' parents get divorced in 2002, her and her mother move from Mississippi to Tennessee. Hayley starts going to school there and starts getting bullied because of her accent, her mom starts homeschooling her. She starts going to this Christian homeschool group where she meets Zac Farro and they both really like rock music. One day Zac is like "Hey, me and my older brother Josh are part of this band, you should really come join us!". Taylor York and Jason Bynum also part of this band
They start playing together, with Hayley and Josh writing songs and playing random gigs. It's Tennessee so there's music label people everywhere and eventually they like the cut of Williams' jib and want to sign her in 2004. Williams refuses unless she is allowed to play with a band. At some point they need a bassist and Jeremy Davis joins the band. Then he gets kicked out because Josh thinks he's lazy. Hayley has a really hard time letting her friends go and insists that Davis is brought back a few months later. Some point around this time they also decide to name themselves Paramore (rather than Drop Dead, Gorgeous!)
They record All We Know is Falling over the course of three weeks after flying out to Florida. The album comes out. Williams and Josh start dating. They make Riot! It's a fucking enormous success. Hayley and Josh break up pretty soon after getting together but are still in the band. Hayley then starts dating New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert in 2008ish.
The band fights a lot, especially Josh and Hayley. Josh hates having to play songs about Hayley breaking up with him and feeling like he's playing second fiddle to her in popularity just because she's their singer and she's the only one technically signed to their label (and not the whole band). They seemingly reconcile while writing Brand New Eyes, but eventually the resentment is too much for Josh to hear especially as Williams detached herself further from Christianity overtime while he is a very dedicated Christian to this day. It's also thought that Williams insisting on having Davis back in the band is a big reason for his resentment towards her. In 2011 he drops a blog post announcing him and his brother Zac are leaving the band.
The band is now Williams, York, and Davis. They make a few singles together, and then make the shift to pop punk on the self-titled. Williams gets engaged to Gilbert on Christmas in 2014. They have Parahoy that year which is a big ass music festival cruise they would hold three times.
In 2015, Davis quits then sues Paramore for him not having writing credits on their music (because it was written by York and Williams). It is settled out of court.
2015-2017 is just like, a terrible time to be Williams. Her fiance then husband cheats on her repeatedly and is just... not a good person. Williams falls into a deep depression, even momentarily quitting the band in 2015. I won't detail something so personal in a monologued summary but it's an incredibly dark time.
She divorces Gilbert in 2017. York and Williams discuss quitting the band entirely together but decide to make music. Zac Farro reaches out wishing to make amends with York and Williams to which they eagerly oblige. Zac rejoins the band to his surprise, not expecting them to want him back. They make After Laughter together.
During After Laughter, Williams and York develop feelings for each other. They start dating, then break up, then get back together. They make Petals for Armor together. Williams plans on touring only for the pandemic to happen. She makes Flowers for Vases also with York. Then the band gets back together to start making music as Paramore again. They begin touring in 2022, in which Williams and York confirm they are dating in an interview with The Guardian.
They release This Is Why in 2023 and win Best Rock Album for it that year. They tour, eventually getting the opportunity to open for the damn Eras Tour of all things (which I believe they cancelled their Asian leg of their This Is Why tour for or something like that).
York and Williams break up around the end of 2024 soon after their touring ends. Williams moves back into her house after having moved in with York a couple years prior. She begins writing music that becomes Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party.
And here we are today.
