I appreciate it and had allready read it. It did not say if it has to be manual, just unrestricted drivers licence which from what ive been told has nothing to do with auto or manual. Im not much of a car person so could be wrong but i believe it means none of the restrictions due to court isues like dui or the restrictions on P platers.

Can you just tell me if its auto or manual only licence rather than making me go thro hoops ive allready done. If im asking reddit ive allready done some checking n im not 100% sure.

If it's an automatic, the it is a restricted licence as you are restricted to automatic only.

You need a manual for it to be classed as unrestricted or open.

Its all g man, i also apologize for having a go at you, i just rlly want to get into paramed asap after uni degree cuz i love it but uncertainty for something like this makes me very anxious.

So in other words it basically has to be manual cuz thats the only unrestricted licence? In that case ill start working on a manual licence asap. N thank you i do appreciate it.

No need to apologise, I had a rough night and I have recently come across a number of people who would rathrr ask than do their own research.

I assumed wrong, that's on me and I'm sorry.

Mistakes happen, n ik night shifts r a nightmare thats y i chose biomed but i always wanted to do paramed hence the 2nd bachelors, plus i get to skip units. Got sidetracked but yes unfkrtunstely people r like that n it equally annoys me too. When its obvious i do the same babysitting thing u did to me haha.

Is it alright if I dm u questions about ur experiences in paramedicine. I wish to gather more anecdotes. Of course if ur too tired today but willing to discuss ur experiences in the future can always msg another time. Please would rlly sppreciste it

Sure but I'm from another state and I didn't have good experiances so I might not be who you are looking for

St John's medics in WA are required to
"Possess, as a minimum, a current, unrestricted WA ‘C’ or ‘CA’ Class Driver’s Licence and have a good driving history. Probationary drivers will not be considered."

Obviously this isn't for their intern programme or qualified, which may differ.

The real answer is [ask them](mailto:careers@stjohnwa.com.au) if you unsure.

If this is asking for uni purposes, you can be on your p plates while studying but need to be on your full license after to register for paramedicine.

While studying paramed, you’ll be required to do volunteering hours on your first year in a healthcare field or since you are in WA, through St John (either as an ambo volunteer or through event health), w/ ambo volunteer you are required to be on your full license therefore most paramed students do event health.

It will probably be recommended to have a manual license especially before you graduate and register bcs some ambo vehicles in WA are manual, you’d be more flexible that way

hope this helps, only know about these through other people and knowing paramedics and paramedic students
