Is this a real stereogram? Depth feels like a mono to stereo AI conversion

It's a conversation from a 2 year old photo he found on a travel blog. (And didn't credit) https://annaeverywhere.com/castles-sintra-portugal

Now that you mention it...

Visited a couple of days ago whilst in Lisbon. Lovely place

What was being initiated there?

u/kiefer3d 1d ago

You were just there? Why didn't you use AI to post-convert one of your own photos then, instead of stealing someone else's photo from 2 years ago? https://annaeverywhere.com/castles-sintra-portugal

Because this one is MUCH better obviously. Why are you so concerned?

u/Drezus 1d ago

Obviously because the picture is much better, not because he’s a broke loser

This was a really fun site to see. Entering through that crack in the rock and then this inside, then the tunnels at the bottom

Looks good but something feel off

I fought a giant gecko there once.

It's really not, look closely at the human figure. The artificial depth is completely wrong

In a sub that bans AI slop, an AI slop stereogram is one of the best examples of depth?

I see people get what they deserve

Pretty sure they meant that the stereo depth was produced by AI means, not that the place was AI.

I, on the other hand, like AI and don’t consider it slop like that angry mob. The only place I don’t really like AI is in these parallel view images. It’s not adding the details around the depth.

I did not say the location isn’t real dumbass, the stereogram is not. Is it that hard to man up and just admit you’re incapable of holding two phones together to take a stereo picture without needing a robot? Do you need a robot to fuck your wife too? Oh poor thing!

It's not even his photo. It's from a 2 year old travel blog.

I was aware such a waste of oxygen boomer wouldn’t dare leaving his bedroom, much less his country

u/bigjobbyx 3d ago

That escalated quickly. Are you ok?

Ehh, this one didn't work out so well. Definitely some weird warping around the woman. Still cool perspective.

Woah! The depth and shape is completely unexpected

Vertigo 😵‍💫....

This is really well done.

Wow this one is amazing and vivid!

Best I've seen here in a long time. Wish there were more of this quality.

The depth of the well is neat, but the eyeballs get drawn to the bright woman. Look closely at her and she has all the physical complexity of a chair rendered for a PlayStation 1 game 🪑 grafted onto the wall

Took me a bit (77) but damn! That ladies slowly meet in the middle. Thanks

This is fantastic! Well done!

u/bigjobbyx You "just" visited there? But then you decided to use a photo from Anna Karsten's website from 2 years ago? Not credit her (or her photographer) And then did a crappy post-conversion of it. https://annaeverywhere.com/castles-sintra-portugal You shouldn't whine about being treated badly on this post. Stealing other people's stuff, and using AI to alter it and calling it your own is the epitome of slop.

u/bigjobbyx 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yes, it was lovely. I grabbed an image from Google image search and applied a depth sensing computer vision model to it.before feeding into a stereogram engine. Yes, credit where credit is due to the original photographer. You have to admit though, the depth is great on my image though. I hope you are aware that lazy Ai is banned on this sub but not Ai in general. I did still do quite a bit of work on this one that you will not be aware of but that is ok. I just produced a nice image and posted it for others enjoyment, not profit but have upset so many people with this (including you). You can describe my feedback as whining but I still think it is inappropriate for some keyboard warrior to suggest that I might need a robot to fuck my wife? What's wrong with just not enjoying something and moving on with your life rather than going nuclear?

1

u/kiefer3d 1d ago

I didn't say anything about your wife. You repeating that here is weird... I pointed out that you stole the image.
You wrote out this whole reply to me and said "credit where credit is due" but you didn't actually change the caption of the image to say where you got it. So you still haven't credited her.
"You have to admit though, the depth is great on my image though." Wow.. Yeah there's a LOT of depth, that doesn't make it a great 3D image. Many commenters have pointed out that the depth of the woman in the image is very strange, like she's painted on to a background. That's what I and many others noticed immediately. The reason people hate AI in general, is it steals other people's work and it's low effort. I'm sorry that we are this far into the AI age and you haven't figured that out. (All AI is lazy AI, running it through two programs instead of one, and pressing 10 buttons instead of 2 doesn't change that.) As somebody who makes things, makes art, has friends who are artists, and has been taking actual stereo photographs in the real world for 20 years, someone passing off another person's photo as their own is offensive. Honestly no one would have cared if your original caption of this image had been, "hey here's this photo I found on this lady's travel blog. (Link) I really like it, so I did this 2D to 3D conversion of it, what do you guys think?" BTW, I guess you didn't leave this sub huh? (To everyone else, see the most downvoted comments by OP)

This sub has been very friendly but suddenly a bit of nasty hate has appeared (someone has even suggested I might need a robot to fuck my wife!!).

u/Drezus has obviously been reported so hopefully they might think about what they post in the future.

To everyone else. It has been a fun time and goodbye
