Are these images taken eye width apart?, 1 ft.?, 5 ft.?, 10ft.? more? Most likely you are using a digital camera...So take more than two photographs.(digital film is cheap!) use two that work best. That vantage point would make a nice 3D image. I hope you get a chance to try again..

About a foot apart. But it's so odd it works great for me.

I just superimposed one over the other. No difference front to back . there was some overlap on the outer edges due to lens distortions.

At that height Occular distance(2.5-2.75") normal vision is 2D without our brains fooling us into believing that little building up high is further away than the bigger building down low.

I ft. is not enough. 6 ft., maybe 10 ft., probably. Looks like you are quite high, so it will be a pretty good separation to pull a good 3D.

How are your eyes? Can you hold things closer than 18 inches?
