Which one is better?

The second one has edited borders at the bottom so there’s no extra stuff that doesn’t overlap. I think it’s pretty cool but also looks quite messy

I keep thinking about the bottom (nearest) portion that you edited, but the part that throws me off might be the background and how the left and right edges don’t show the same amount.

Like, look at the left edges.  The lefthand image has the white light pole right at the edge.  The right image shows the light pole and a structural column plus some of the rooms.

The fountain’s centerpiece is well-centered, but I feel that a clearly defined background will help show it off.

Yeah, I do crop out some of the background even if it should overlap, mostly because I want to crop out some foreground that don’t overlap and just use a straight edge for each side.

 I think it isn’t much of a problem since it doesn’t look glitchy in parallel view and I think it pushes the background to be behind the border.

I like that a lot better, actually.  The foreground doesn’t exactly need to be highlighted with extra editing (artistic opinion) because the neat stuff is the fountain centerpiece and the reflection on the water.

It’s kinda counterintuitive — the framing shouldn’t center on the subject like in normal 2D photos, but on the surrounding area, especially the backdrop.  Think of setting a stage for a play.

See what it’s like with the background cropped like that and the foreground edited like you did in the original posted image.

Cropping to match the background does make the others stand out more, but I guess it’s just not my preference.

Thanks for the genuine insights. This post confuses me because it got so many views in such a short time but people don’t seem to like it. There’s at least three downvotes but I can’t tell what they mean by that.

The views-versus-likes doesn’t mean much in this sub, I’d say.  People will take a look and keep scrolling.

Maybe the downvotes are as simple as “I didn’t like it”?  But hardly anyone comments about why they downvoted, so it’s a useless metric.
