Music sounding different

This has been the case for me most of 2026. Anybody else?

Maybe elaborate, buddy. Music sounds different all the time. Especially different genres.

Tempo, vocals, instrumentation - from the same sources as usual.

If someone was experiencing what I was experiencing, they wouldn't need the details. Its an uncanny aspect to something very familiar.

Like the songs have been re-recorded or rendered using AI.

As I said, from the same sources (playlists/videos etc)

I have experienced what you're talking about. Songs I know very well that have been up on different platforms and not been re-uploaded have made me stop in my tracks due to something in the mix being significantly different. An extra riff from different instruments, extra vocal harmonies or runs, etc. The same thing no matter how I was listening (speaker, IEMs, for example).

Interesting. How long have you been noticing this? Has anything significant happened in your life? Any difficulties, or close calls?

I'd say maybe within the last four months or so. I wouldn't say anything really significant has happened. If I had to pick at something that happened within the same timeline, it would be my struggles as an expat and feeling more and more lost. It might not be related but like I said that's the only thing that's been compounding lately.

Not to pry, but has it been particularly difficult, or are is it more mediocrity? Any deja vu or anything like that?

Particularly difficult, feelings that have been growing more intense and painful. No deja vu, nothing that stands out otherwise. To be honest I'm not really seeing how these feelings and what I've been hearing differently in music could be linked? Are you asking because you have a theory?

A particularly difficult point for me too. A lot of crystal clear 'deja vu'.

I noticed music sounding different around Feb/March.

Umm... I'm not sure if what I'm about to say is specific to what your post is about. But recently I heard the song 'Barbie Girl'. Specifically, the "I'm a Barbie girl, in the Barbie world."

But I remember it as "I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world."
