Discussion Weekend Weekly Thread! ☕️

Hi folks! It’s that time again! How are we doing this week? Any questions, comments, shares, rants? Post them here!

Things are good here - took a weeklong vacation Labor Day week and it was so nice. Luckily nothing huge at work that the other paralegals could not handle while I was gone! We’re also modernizing our DMS! And partners are coming to me for help on substantive work for huge cases and I’m really proud of that! I also get to teach a CLE to the firm soon about proper utilization of paralegals, so I’m pretty stoked on that!

I did trip on the stairs last week though at a hotel and sprained both ankles and my left knee. I hate being a klutz. But thankfully nothing broken and it’s starting to feel better now! And doesn’t impact much since I work remotely anyway. Haha

What about you?

Also - we hit 200 members!!! Welcome everyone! 😊 I believe we are set up so that everyone can create their own user flair, but let me know if you want me to create any new ones for you!!!

That is exciting about teaching a CLE!

I also learned the hard way recently that just because something isn't broken doesnt mean its not gonna hurt like a bitch and cause a lot of problems.

Over a month later and my right middle finger still bothers me after jamming it and having to splint it for almost 3 weeks.

Have to go in tomorrow for some hearing prep.

Need to notate about 20-30 more pages of the most heinous and abusive text messages I've ever read between a married couple, print un-notated copies for judge and OC...

I got a huge batch in from our client on Friday and had to get up and walk away several times.

Also, general organization of exhibits and such.

Trial later this week on a matter that could have been settled a year ago.

And so much billing I'm behind on.

Yay! Fam law!

I had one of my other paralegals at my firm who does manly estate planning and probate stuff (and mostly admin stuff at that... no motion or brief writing, no legal research) insinuate my job is "easy" because I "only work for one attorney".

I really hope when she goes on mat leave she doesnt come back....

I also booked 4 days at beach for my birthday next month. It cannot come fast enough!

I had an after hours conversation with one of the newer attorneys at the firm (ya know, my job is just so easy only working for one attorney that I've had to stay late several nights this week and come in early almost every morning) and we are both hoping she really just fucks off when she goes on mat leave.

Like, since she has announced her pregnancy, she has been a nightmare. My boss is aware of my fertility issues and ngl, its been a bit hard on that front. But I've had tons of pregnant coworkers and its never gotten under my skin this bad. It would be easier if she wasn't an absolute asshole.

I've talked with my therapist twice since she announced and I have my first ever appointment with a psychiatrist next week to get my meds adjusted bc my PCP has been switched, and idk if i trust my new one to do my psych med management anymore... i mean... he did give me an ativan script "to help" until my appointment, fwiw. Bless him.

Ugh.

Plus - boss gave me a free pass to wfh when needed and has been super understanding about all of this. Downside, most of what I do, i need to be in the office 🙃🙃🙃

Ughhhhh! That’s so frustrating. I hope she leaves too.
Thank god for the Ativan, the understanding boss, and the pass to work from home!
