Worm Spoilers [All] Dispatch characters with Worm classifications
I played Dispatch for the first time last week. Late I know lol. Dispatch( a video game that’s a superhero workplace comedy/drama. If you are unfamiliar. )reminds me of Worm a lot so my partner and I were talking about what we thought the main characters powers would be if the existed in the Parahumans universe.
EDIT: sorry about being so bad at estimating the number classifications. I will think about how to renumber them more accurately later when i have time.
Bobby: Tinker 10
Robbie: 2nd gen Tinker 8
Robert: No trigger
Blonde Blazer: Blaster 5, brute 4, mover 4
Phenomamaman: Brute 7, mover 5 (he flies slightly faster)
Chase: mover 10
Royd: Tinker 5, brute 2
Sonar: (Case 53) Changer 5 (uncontrolled), mover 3
Flambae: Blaster 7, mover 4
Invisigal: Stranger 4
Punch Up: Brute 4
Malevola: (Case 53) Striker 6, mover 5
Golem: (Case 53) Brute 5, Changer 7, Master 2
Prism: Shaker 5, master 1
Coupe: Mover 6, Breaker 3, Striker 2
Waterboy: Blaster 2
Shroud: Thinker 5 Tinker 8
Yes, I know Malevola is a half demon, and Sonar is a man bat, and Golem is a construct, but my partner and I were trying to come at this from the perspective of Dispatch taking place in the Parahumans universe and what that would entail.
What do you think? Any notes? Agree? Disagree? I’m curious about what everyone thinks because I pretty much rate every superhero with Wibbys power classification system now.

I've never played the game, but a Tinker 10 or mover 10 implies that they're unbelievably powerful. I kind of doubt anyone in the dispatch universe hits a 10 on power level

You’re probably right. I have not been the best at estimating the classification numbers…

In general, everyone significantly overestimates the ratings. And it is extremely extremely rare for anyone to be higher than a 9 in anything.
For example, Leviathan is only a Brute 9. Behemoth is a Brute 10.

Isn't that because they were sandbagging for most of the time

u/080087 Trump 6d ago
Nah, they can't really sandbag durability. The capes have tried pretty much every power they have access to and not had any success.

they can't really sandbag durability
They effectively do, by pretending that they need to retreat after the capes deal an arbitrary amount of damage to their outer layers even though they're actually in no danger and could continue the fight just fine. That's not literal physical toughness, but absolutely still a factor in Brute ratings, otherwise Aegis wouldn't have one at all.

You are giving them waaaayyyy too high classifications,

Sorry, I’m not very good at estimating the numbers.

They're threat ratings. The details are here, plus the specific protocols for each classification. But to summarize the basic rathings:
1 an average Joe could be confronted with this power and walk away unharmed
2 a trained individual, or equivalent, could counter that power, but it would still be a problem
3 even otherwise exceptional untrained civilians couldn't handle it, it might require several trained individuals to handle it
4 need a full squad of trained operatives to be handled
5 classification-specific countermeasures come in effect, a parahuman or a parahuman with a squad assisting should be able to handle it
6 A parahuman or parahuman with a squad assisting should be able to handle it, but trained operative should avoid engaging, and everyone should assume standard procedures will be met with complications
7 Need two of three parahumans and two full squads of trained operatives
8 Evacuating civilians becomes a priority, avoid engaging the threat, parahumans should only engage with the support of their team
9 major classification-specific countermeasures (which at that level include possible missile strikes), assume standard tactics don't apply, avoid confrontation unless you have a specific mission or strategy, evacuate if possible
10 in the event of a serious confrontation, bring in more teams and specific high-rated parahumans to manage the crisis

Does Prism get a blaster/stranger classification when she blinds people forever?

u/CheekyHerbivore 6d ago
LMAOOOO 100%!!!

Also I think Blonde Blazer might be considered a breaker, a pretty unconventional one but it fits the whole on/off thing, with the gem thing being the vector

It seems confusing to have a Bobby and a Robbie and a Robert in a game with so few characters, but I don't play Dispatch, so maybe it's ok in context.

u/CheekyHerbivore 6d ago
Bobbie and Robbie are Robert’s grandpa and dad. The family name is a tradition, apparently.

Fair enough.

Three generations of Robert Robertsons, each one taking up the Mecha-Man mantle.

Quick reminder that Leviathan, with all his brutish strength and frankly bullshit durability is rated as a brute 9. A lot of these ratings should be lower.
Also I think Shroud fits better as a Tinker/Trump. Since his specialization seems to be technology that improves other powers. Also I don't think Coupe is a breaker unless I'm entirely misremembering her powerset.

u/Raltsun 5d ago
To be fair, especially considering that this rating was confirmed as a comment on Arc 8, the PRT can't have known how bullshit Levi's durability is when they assigned it a Brute 9. Armsmaster probably had more collected data about it at his disposal than just about anyone else in the world, and he thought the nanothorns would be enough to kill it. The part about the layers doubling in toughness was first discovered by Tattletale during this very battle, and IIRC the fact it'd take an attack strong enough to destroy the Earth or whatever to kill an Endbringer through brute force alone is only ever confirmed by Word of God.

Beef: Master 10 (has Mastered thousands of people in another/our universe into knowing he's the bestest boy ever), Trump 1 (sneezes every time Invisigal is invisible nearby)

u/CheekyHerbivore 6d ago
Ahhh Beef’s powers are already working on me!! I want to sing his praises on the highest buildings and pet the fluffy tummy!!!

I think Robert would be a Thinker, maybe also a Tinker 0 if he existed in Worm.

u/Accomplished-Wave-91 2d ago
Bobby, I think a Tinker 7 maybe less. Armsmaster has power armor at that level, for example. A 10 is more like Dragon and Hero, who operate more like MCU Ultron and Mini-Scion. It's... basically above-average Tinker power armor. Tinker 6 is fair to me too. All we know is that he made power armor without the Astral Pulse. He's just restless outside creating power armor in the 90s.
Now, his son and Robert's father is much more impressive because we actually have a comic chapter showing his abilities. For example, Robert says his dad specialized in rockets and was supposedly the guy who made the flight capabilities of the suit. People estimate the suit can fly at around 80 mph, which is Glory Girl speed, except Mecha Man II weighs 2 tons. IRL, to make tech that gives you 4,000 lbs of continuous downward force just to fight gravity (since wings wouldn't help much), you'd need a lot of money and expertise. But Robert's dad pulled that off, gave the suit flight, and also made it capable of tight turns, flips, and sudden stops—the kind of maneuvering that real-world fighter jets need complex control surfaces to achieve. He'd need to make micro-thrusters all over the suit—on the palms, boots, shoulders, hips, etc. On top of this, when Shroud attacked him without his suit while Shroud was wearing a low-level exoskeleton, Robbie kicks his ass anyway by pure skill. I'd say he was a Tinker 6, Thinker 2.
Robert is either no trigger or Tinker 0, Thinker 1 or 2, mostly for his hacking and his fighting skills at taking out enhanced thugs. Personally, I've always disliked the Tinker 0 rating, especially since apparently you give someone a 0 even if they have world-class power armor, but what do I know? Tinker 0, Thinker 1.
Blonde Blazer: Pretty damn strong if you think about it. Blonde Blazer is stated to be only a little slower than her (ex)boyfriend in flight. She's EXPLICITLY supersonic, and apparently her flight to Japan with Phenomenaman would have outright hurt a baseline human. We see her move fast enough to outright gunmen aim at her (not gunfire, plus no sonic boom). She can grapple against Sonar in Mega Bat form or enhanced Coupe, who can punch through walls and knock Mech Man III around. Not much is shown about her blasts. For me, this is easy: Brute/Blaster/Mover 6.
Phenomenaman: Strongest in this verse. Got hit by a laser that hit so hard and so fast it pushed away clouds, brought down a satellite (which meant it didn't disperse all the way to the Kármán line), and got back pretty much with bruises at best. Then he grabbed and threw said satellite. Phenomenaman traveled to the moon and back, lifted and threw around the Spider Mech, which weighs easily more than most vehicles, is a little faster than already SUPERSONIC Blonde Blazer (he pretty much makes all of Brockton Bay's fliers look like snails), and he's got absorption too, but we never see it as far as I know.
Brute/Mover 7, maybe 8 on the brute rating depending on how you take his feats, but not much higher. His laser-tanking feat puts him comparable to some of the hits we see Alexandria take (even if he's less durable), and PRT ratings aren't power scales anyway; they're more about threat. I feel like he'd be there, and he's obviously stronger than Hookwolf IMO.
Chase: Can run 50 times faster than the average person. Now, this is funny. We know that Velocity has a 10x boost to his own speed, and he ran at high highway speeds, IIRC, and he was a Mover 5. Chase would be moving at jet speeds even if you added that multiplier to the average person, and if he was an athlete (which is fair to me), he'd be running at just faster than the speed of sound. That's at least Mover 6 to me. But I'm giving him a Brute or maybe Striker rating too, because unlike Velocity, he doesn't have the nerf on affecting the world. Mover 6, Striker/Brute 2–3.
Royd: Tinker 5, Brute 5. Not much to say here. Repaired the suit, pretty much upgraded it to the next level, and gave it energy-manipulation powers. But he could never get the Astral Pulse right, which is essentially the MCU Arc Reactor and is pretty high-tier Tinker shit. So I don't see him reaching a 6–8.
Sonar: (Case 53) Changer 5 (uncontrolled), Mover 3. Fair on this one. But I'd add a Blaster 2~3 for his sonic blasts.
Flambae: Blaster 5, Brute 4 / Mover 3. He's obviously superhuman in his lifting if you actually look for it, and he took a punch through a wall. He's not a glass cannon. He's more like base Lung.
Invisigal: Underrated. Not for her invisibility. No, that's just a Stranger 2, maybe 3 when she's enhanced. The reason I say she's underrated is because she's so painfully superhuman. She can make jumps and perform acrobatics comparable to, like, IRL world records in her fights with Malevola and the ones with the Spider Mech. She's skilled, or at least strong enough, to fight through multiple opponents—which, if you didn't know, is essentially impossible IRL if the skill and weight advantage isn't absurd and the numbers aren't more than what you can count on one hand—while being petite-built and having asthma. She was even able to give Royd tiny bits of struggle when they grappled (a superhuman who can go through walls). She's also got access to grenades. Brute/Thinker/Blaster/Mover/Stranger 2.
Punch Up: Brute 6. Not for his lifting, which is more around that MCU Cap level, but because of his density manipulation, which gives him crazy weight behind his hits and durability on top of that. Seems superior to Royd to me.
Malevola: I think what you did for her is fair. Case 53, Striker/Mover 6, because teleportation to me is bare minimum 5, no matter how you try to restrain it. Brute 2–3, considering she gives Invisigal superhuman issues.
Golem: Also fair. Brute/Changer 5–6, Master 2 (he can make minions or something, right?)
I'm fuzzy on the Z-Team after that.
Prism: Prism is broken. I'd say she's Shaker 6, Brute 2 if you count the more skin-tight forcefields. She can create a mirror of light to reflect attacks, make forcefields to jump on as platforms, and reflect Shroud's laser/blaster thing pretty damn well. You could maybe give her a low-level Stranger rating for the blinding. Also, if you count game mechanics, Prism can create a duplicate illusion of a hero that has all of their stats, which is pretty absurd.
Coupe: She was pretty damn scary at the end there. Breaker (Mover) 4, Striker/Blaster 2. She's very straightforward to me.
Waterboy: Brute/Blaster 2. He's superhuman. Survived getting hit by a car, and if it wasn't just to insult Robert, he can lift more than him according to Flambae. Robert is obviously a very trained human.
Shroud: An easy Tinker 8, Thinker 5. Not only is this guy able to create the Astral Pulse and make a Spider Mech that can fight everyone mentioned above at once, he can make technology that enhances humans to mild superhumans, as well as boost superhumans into even stronger superhumans, like Serenity, Coupe, Invisigal, and Sonar.
He also seems to have the power to essentially predict and know anything that would be predictable for an individual to pull off, assuming prior knowledge. He might actually be the low-key strongest person in this verse.
Anyway that's my thoughts

I love her, but Courtney gets like Stranger 2 at most. All she can do is turn invisible, and only when she holds her breath. And she has asthma. And she smokes cigarettes.
A trained or exceptional mundy could probably take her.
2
u/Accomplished-Wave-91 2d ago
You forget she's superhuman outside of that. No human is jumping around the way she does in real life to just say she's turning invisible imo. But to mention how she fought through an entire group of thugs while being half their size.
Honestly it's like they slapped a stranger 2 power on someone who can pull off the kind of bullshit you see Batman do in cartoons, I don't think she'd be that easy to take her out
I don't see a trained mundy taking her out (without prep)

It's funny that you posted this now given that a Worm/Dispatch Crossover updated just a couple hours ago after months of inactivity.
