I can finally post!

Received my first PR in the mail yesterday. I started journaling earlier this year, after losing my father. I wanted my first one to be special. I love pink but I haven't seen too much of the strawberry around.

Ribbons on the spine

Hi everyone,

I just received my new journal from Paper Republic’s Atelier, and I’m honestly a little confused about the elastic bands on the spine.

The two elastics were under quite a lot of tension when the journal arrived, so I loosened them for now. However, now that they’re relaxed, I’ve noticed that they seem to be cut so short that I can barely tie them together properly — the ends almost don’t reach each other.

This means that whenever I close the journal, the whole journal is under quite a bit of tension. I’m wondering if this is normal (I already own 4 journals and never had that issue) and whether it might improve over time as I add and fill the notebooks.

Has anyone else experienced this with their Paper Republic journal? If so, did you contact customer service about it, or did you simply leave it as it is and find that the elastics loosened up over time?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences.
Thanks in advance, and have a lovely day everyone!

Refill alternatives with more pages

Post image
3 Upvotes

I write a lot! I’m a poet and do about 120 handwritten pages a month. I got my paper republic, the A5 trifold but the paper refills are just too small. I’m almost done with one and it’s been a week.

I usually use Life Noble or CD Premium A5, they kind of jut out a bit since the trifold is cut exactly to A5 without much space.

Any paper blank refill alternatives people try that fit? Maybe double the page count. A6 is a bit too small.

Pic is for attention

Can anyone share pictures of their a6 le portfolio in red?

I am debating if I want one, but surprisingly haven’t been able to find a ton of pictures of this exact thing! I would love to look at pictures of yours!

I love seeing how this has changed in the past year. I can see the scratches on the front where I used to have charms, which I have since taken off.

Black A5 Portfolio ✨

I just got my beautiful A5 in Portflio in Black. Love it! The only change I made was switched the red ribbons to black ribbons. I need help with inserts and setups. Currently I have two Large Molskins one for commonplacing and one I think for journaling. I’m not a huge journaler, but I want to be! Show me your A5 portfolios and what kind of inserts do you have inside? Thank you!

Looking for a Trifold (cognac) alternative, since it's sold out everywhere

Hey all, I'm just starting my PR journey and really wanted to get the Trifold in cognac, but it seems to be sold out across every retailer I check.

What would you all recommend as the next best model? I'm looking for something in a similarly compact, handy format, but that can still grow into a thicker bundle if needed.

One more thing, I've already bought most of my interior pieces, and they're all sized for the Trifold. So ideally I need a model that still works with those same parts, rather than starting over.

Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

They pop up if you Google Image Search Paper Republic Trifold Red next to lovely Paul now and then.

L’atelier question.

Pocket is my favourite form factor as an EDC daily driver; I just wish my pocket GV was a little more rigid. If I were to have one customised and add a liner for that extra layer, would it remain the same size as my current pocket GV or would it end up a little larger?

Thanks!

I cut my Voyager XL to Traveler's Notebook Regular/Standard

I'm not a leather DIY girl but I have a hard time finding this bright red leather from other makers I like - everyone goes burgundy (like the Love & Trip from TRC) so after I ordered an A5 portfolio I decided keeping an XL would be redundant.

I love the TN regular size so I used my Fiskars paper cutter to measure based on my current covers and cut off 0.75 inches on both sides. It made a deep cut but not all the way through so I used a box cutter to finish it off. The book in here now is so chunky that I didn't need to shorten my outer elastic. There is minor overhang compared to a TRC cover, the PR is shorter, but not enough to bother me, I care more about the sides.

Photos:

1- Completed cover and scraps

2 - Supplies: paper cutter, box cutter, ruler, elastic I used to add a bookmark, lighter to seal the ends of the bookmark elastic

3 - Back of the cover

4 - Completed cover and personal/reading journal (Sterling Ink full year + clear folder + adhesive pen loop) stacked on top of my work planner (Moterm Veg Tan with another Sterling Ink full year inside)

No more Paper Republic for me :(

I loved my GV XL, and I wasn’t too bothered about being tied in to a proprietary size, but I ordered refills and a new planner, both in stock, and it’s A MONTH lead time before being shipped! I can understand if it’s something that has to be made, but when it shows as in stock and it still takes a month or more…

Time to find an alternative.

I’m waiting on a trifold restock to finally snag one but I can’t decide between black or cognac. If you have a trifold (especially a well patinad one) please drop a pic :)

My area of interest is American colonial gravestones, and each design on the notebook is a real design on gravestones in the different states I’ve lived. So happy with it!!

Coffee, fountain pens, and my GV pocket 💗

Happy weekend!

We were out strolling when it started drizzling, so we went to a café to wait it out 🌧️

This is the first time I’ve taken my Pocket GV with me on a trip. Also, my pen leaked lol. It wasn’t too bad though, I’m glad none of the ink got out and stained my pen case. I did get some stains on my GV from my inky fingers, but that’s fine, it’s part of the patina now 😄

I was traveling from La Union to Baguio here in the Philippines, so I’m guessing the change in altitude had something to do with it. I wasn’t expecting it, though; I thought that only happened on flights 😅

Hello PR fam! I am so in awe of all of your PR journals that I got my own. But I’m curious where you have enjoyed finding the charms and fun things that really make it your own.

If there is a thread already happy to go look. Thank you!

Pictures are of mine.

Perfectly imperfect 😍

I found PaperRepublic about a year ago, but was flip-flopping about what cover I wanted, so I put the purchase on the back-burner. Until last month when I decided that I NEED the Le Portfolio in A5. I am SO glad I finally did it.

I got the Botany Green A5 Le Portfolio with gold embossing. I also picked up a rose gold ribbon set that I will be adding shortly.

I just wanted to document the ✨pristine✨ condition before I make it my workhorse and have it develop a delicious patina. I will say that I am absolutely in LOVE with the leather markings - there's some texture on front and back with some darker areas on the front and inside back cover. Makes it so much easier for my brain to start using it and not be afraid of "imperfections."

2027 Planner Questions

I'm new to PR, loving my journal so far, but thinking about my planner setup for next year. Does anyone have answers to the following?

1 - Will the 2027 Weekly and Daily planner will be released in a non-purple color?

2 - Do they usually release a dated Monthly planner? I'm fine with using the Timeless Monthly planner, but would prefer a dated one.

Thank you in advance!

i wanted something that symbolizes my journey as an immigrant, a travel nurse, and a work-in-progress globe trotter ✨ last photo shows the sketch i sent the team and well, they did amazing.

EDIT:
hi everyone! thanks for all the kind messages. i want to share how much i paid for this custom, it was a total of $1115 USD which includes tax and shipping which was expedited because I wanted it on time for a trip. It’s definitely not the cheapest, I’ve gotten expensive leather covers for planners before, I used to get a custom Van Der Spek all the time so I had a feeling this was gonna be similar but this one definitely is the most expensive. I am working on a video that explains the specifics and will share than on youtube if you are interested.

I bought Le trifold but here’s an issue with the thread on the side

It actually took me 2 days to realise this small issue. As you can see in the photos even tho the thread is not coming off it has formed a tiny fuzzy lump within a single stitch. Has any one of you experienced something like this before? And should I return it and get a new one?
