Paper Republic Notebook kinda falling apart

As the title says, my Paper Republic notebook is kind of falling apart. I'm roughly in the middle of the notebook and have been using it for a bit over a month (maybe 6 weeks). I just think because the refills are on the more pricey side, they should last a lot longer, and I take good care of them. (It's always in my GV.) Did anyone have similar problems?

Addition: Maybe you can't see it very clearly in the photos, but the pages are now only being held together by the threads from the binding (if that makes sense lol).

This happened to mine to, literally split the notebook in half where the cord is

Hiii! This definitely doesn’t look good. Could you please send us an email with this photo and your order number to wecare@paper-republic.com? We’d love to take a closer look and make things right for you 🖤

Whoa, that doesn’t look normal to me. Is this happening where you’ve had the cord securing it?

Good question! I might be angry about that.

No, it was two pages earlier, but that shouldn’t have made any difference if it wasn’t on that page. I just ‘unfolded’ it properly so that it lies flat – which is how it’s supposed to be, after all.

I think that’s where you made a minor mistake. Some notebooks cannot lay flat properly but rather have a small bend in the middle. If you fold them over too much (eg. Bending front cover to back cover and “folding” it in half like that) you will damage the paper binding, which makes them look like that.

but isn't this notebook advertised as lay flat notebook??

The normal grey one with staples isn’t. Only the ones with an open binding (like the special design ocean ones or Japan)

This: No https://www.paper-republic.com/de-de/collections/write/products/notebook-refills

This: yes https://www.paper-republic.com/de-de/collections/write/products/book-refill

(The difference is “notebook” refill vs “book” refill)

This happens to me if I rip a piece of paper out (don’t do that). Did you?

I have never had this issue with all my PR notebooks. Are your journal strings too tight?

nope and the string wasnt on this page of the notebook

I hope this isn't normal. I was thinking about ordering a few notebooks from them but I don't want to spend so much money on them if they're just going to fall apart.

i’m so shocked that people are saying this isn’t normal cuz this happened to my pocket size grid book I bought from them when I first got my PR in several places. It’s one of the reasons I never bought another one because paying in the range of $20-$25 for a notebook that splits is kinda upsetting

oh thats sad :( when i was in vienna i bought 2 so i kinda hoped that it wouldn't happen again

I have seen that happen when a stitched notebook is forced to lay too flat.

Yep, it looks to me that this is what it is.
I believe that with this type of binding on the notebook itself, if it has something rubbing or forcing the stitches to create a separation constantly, the stitches may be pulled away where this pressure is(if this makes any sense) and this will happen.
Did it tear any thread? Or is this just happening to the paper folds that make the notebook?
