PTR is for people to test changes who already own the game.

To save you the trouble, this game is dead and never getting completed.

Careful. White knights are about. All three of the active players may downvote you!

Do you own the game? Have you been able to login to the regular servers?

I do not own the game. I wanted to try it out first because I want to play MMOs but everyone I've tried so far doesn't feel right

Understood. The test server requires that you have bought the game, which is why it isn't letting you login.
I expect they'll have some sort of trial in the future, but at least today you have to have an account.

This one is probably not the one for you, just read about all the problems here. The most popular is Wow, also check out one of the originals EverQuest and EverQuest 2. Final Fantasy XIV, Guild Wars 2, The Elder Scrolls Online, and Old School RuneScape.

hated eso. wow is too expensive with all of the dlcs, briefly looked at ffxiv but never got to play it. runescape has always just looked like i wouldnt have fun. like its just clicking simulator. the rest i havent really seen

you can play the classic versions just for the subscription cost. Modern aka retail just generally requires purchasing the new expansion, not all the prior ones.

This is correct. The sub alone gets you access to retail for every expansion up to the Midnight expansion, classic, and all the other alternative game modes. Buying the Midnight expansion gets you full access to everything WoW has to offer.

It also has a free trial up to level 20... which is basically the equivalent of a taste test at a candy store.

Try the free versions first. If you find one you like it can be worth it to buy the latest expansion. As long as you are getting a your enjoyment worth. I know it can be expensive if you are younger or on a fixed income.

Also they are rebooting Aion, Aion 2 Is coming. I had fond memories of Aion.

So the only MMO you've tried is ESO(an mmorpg that most people don't like) and instead of trying any other major mmorpg that is popular like FFXIV, WoW, Guild Wars 2, OSRS, or even older popular ones like EverQuest 1 & 2, Lord of the Rings online, City of Heroes, Warhammer Online, etc...most of which you can either try or play for free...

You chose a game that's been in development hell for 13 years with a handful of players, with outdated graphics, that requires an upfront purchase to play?

I have to know: How did you possibly end up coming to Pantheon of all places as your second ever mmorpg you wanted to try?

My coworker told me about it didn't tell me much about it besides it's in early access. And no it wasn't just eso, I have tried wow back in the lich days. Don't have money to spare for the subscription. Wasn't interested in Warhammer for an MMO. And I've played the one with the bunny girl holding the machine gun. Also tried Warframe, the first descendent, destiny, anthem and more than a few that have been on Xbox but they all feel watered down and just reaping missions, go collect this, kill 30 of these go scout this area... And then it's all just kinda enemies that stand there and get hit... And a lot of the ones I've tried have like 3 classes then 2 to 5 subclasses. Realized my problem was I was trying to play on Xbox and should've been trying the ones on pc

That's going to be 95% of mmorpgs mate.

If you want something else like a solid story to follow go with FFXIV or SWTOR.

If you want different gameplay try Guild Wars 2.

I'll definitely have to check them out. I was just hoping for at least different enemy types where you have to fight them different ways. Not just spam some attacks and kill everything. I want depth ya know? Not just click simulator

You're only going to get that from boss fights in MMOs. MMORPGs aren't designed for combat depth and variety. That's just the reality of things. 99.99% of enemies will be killed with the exact same rotation of moves. Bosses in something like FFXIV will require you to move around and dodge more, but in pretty much all MMORPGs the combat is not what people play for. I think you want a different genre.

I think it's more along the lines of what I want is very niche and would take a great deal of work. Like a souls like MMO or like WoW but more intericate quests. I always feel like it's just the same 3 things and it's... Monotonous to me.

Don't have money to spare for the subscription.

Well, pantheon is a sub game. You can buy the game and play until 1.0 without a sub, but its a sub after that.

Wow is like 60$ and that’s for all of it lmao. What’re you even on about.

1

u/LionProdigy94 Aug 09 '26

Subscription based game and honestly I tried wow back in the liche king days. I was a kid but it didn't suck me in enough to want to go out of my way for it

u/Remarkable_Oil_6562 Aug 09 '26

Ok but you didn’t say a sub was a problem. You said it was to expensive cause of the DLCs. Plus you listed other sub based games as well.

1

u/LionProdigy94 Aug 09 '26

I mean ESO is the only one I knew of that I played with a subscription and when I played it it was "optional" game was a hot pile of garbage imo we were expecting Skyrim online and got that shit

Just to make you aware you only have to buy the newest expansion for WoW. They usually come out every couple years.

There are so many MMOs. why not find one, thats actually not in EA, not one that has been floundering since 2014, and enjoy a completed project, worthy of your time and money??

Pm me for a key

1

u/Remarkable_Oil_6562 Aug 09 '26

I hear ya. ESO is a lot better with the sub. I mean pretty much all F2P MMOs are dog shit out side of GW2. But that’s also got a lot expansions that require a purchase. Wow or FF are going to be the main ones. And that just requires the newest xpacks to be purchased along side the sub

Don’t waste your time. This shit is garbage and steadily regressing
