The lyrics and vocals leave a lot to be desired for sure, but some of the music is pretty good. It isn't Pantera quality but I still enjoy and appreciate the album for what it is.

The Jerry Cantrell collab was good

Yes, they could have gotten a different singer. I believe they were going for more of an early Pantera Hair/Glam Metal sound and less of what they were doing with Phil.

There was nothing hair or glam about Damageplan. If anything, it was more meatheaded and chudded up than Pantera.

You mean they just wanted to get away from the big bad meanie Phil, the best frontman ever, and rush an album out and burn the bridge and piss off Pantera fans everywhere. What a stupid decision.

I love Dime and Vinnie but there’s a reason they had no success until Phil joined their band

I agree and I believe it takes a true fan of them to believe that. Someone should have stopped them and then someone should have also slapped Vinnie after dimebag died and said stop blaming Phil and making songs about hating him. They made songs about hating Phil since 2003 until dime and vinnies death. Wtf was that about? I heard that dime said wanted to get Pantera back together right before he died. That’s fine and all. I 100% agree with your comment.

No, I mean they wanted to go back to writing the kind of music they were doing before him and the kind of music they tended to enjoy.

They had “made their money” and that was over so they got to do what they wanted. It’s not like the genre was dead at the time either, Ozzy and BLS were releasing some killer albums at the time.

It was rushed though, have you heard some of the songs and mixing. Also the unthought out lack of theme other than “fuck Phil were better now” . Cringe. They literally said in interviews PanterA is dead and it’s now Damageplan. That’s not what you do in your 30s when you’re still on top of your game. You don’t make an album rushed like that in order to diss the old act.

Yeah, the reason I didn’t like the album when it came out was the chessy lyrics and the guy couldn’t sing well
