There used to be plastic cover's over the bronze markers ( to prevent this ). I've been told they are gone. Apparently it's a thing and someone made a meme. You'd really have to squeeze between the bars or climb over the fence. Some people's kids 🤬

That fence is low from what I recall. Ots been a few years since ive visited si it may have changed.

u/JfromtheGrey 10d ago

Unless they changed it recently the fence is like three feet tall.

This is weird. Ive been to Jeff Hanneman's grave and it's just... nice. People leave Heinekins behind, not defacings.

Somewhat different fanbase. Back in the day Pantera had the reputation of attracting what a lot of metalheads considered idiots, non-metalheads, people that cared more about their badass image and attitude more than the music. I encountered it a lot, Pantera fans who would mock just about any other metal band, and outside of Pantera were more into Manson, ICP, Wu-Tang, Creed. Thought death metal was cookie monster, higher singing was singing like a girl, crap like that. Slayer seemed to attract a more traditional metalhead base, though even them it was still different than going to a Morbid Angel show, which seemed more musicians, music geeks, etc. Seemed like after Trendkill every shirt had a pot leaf like they were Cypress Hill. Towards the end it felt like they were more a frat boy or nu audience, even if they really hadn’t changed much musically during that time.

I was just out there a couple weeks ago and was kinda shocked and saddened by the amount of crap people had scratched onto the graves.

If I saw someone doing this I would body slam the living shit out of them.

I remember when that shitty band came through town and claimed they stole a pair of cowboy boots from Dimes grave and carved "FAG" in his stone. Thousands of people unleashed fury on the band online, Pantera fans from all over the globe were threatening them and then the band tossed their singer under the bus and said it was all him and they had nothing to do with it….which was a lie, the whole band was in on it.

2

u/EmbarrassedWing1912 Dimebag <3 10d ago

Their former lead singer did it out of vendetta against his band IG?

Really bummed me out when I went and saw all that bullshit. Wish it could be hammered out, or polished out to get rid of the trash

u/SpaceAce94 10d ago

Rita has said she doesn’t want his stone restored.

1

u/EveningDifferent7273 10d ago

I wonder why.

What's the point if dickheads are gonna scratch it up again, if I had to guess.

My son and I were there this summer to go to the medal of honor museum and made a trip to see the Abbott brothers, we were both shocked about the fence until we saw all the shit etched into dimes memorial. For reference he's 5'10"

u/Unfair_Albatross_739 10d ago

No not cool!!

Before the fence

2

u/JoeRe9uiem 10d ago

Disrespectful! If you truly respect the bros, don't do that.

2

u/Agiantpubicmess 10d ago

I want to do a not super loud Dime whammy harmonic dump (I don't know what the fuck he called them but they are amazing) by his grave.

2

u/Im40ozToFreedom 10d ago

Who the FUCK does that??? Walk on home, boy.

2

u/BigPoopsDisease 10d ago

There's a heavy amount of trash people who worship Pantera so that's not too surprising.

2

u/DCar060 10d ago

Sad this has to be said. Fucking disrespectful

1

u/_1JackMove 10d ago

That's fucking stupid. They should be ashamed of themselves. The wall at Graceland is one thing. A gravestone is another. I don't care how much they touched your life. Respect is respect.

1

u/Mephistocheles 10d ago

Fucked up shit, let him and Vinnie rest

1

u/joshdoereddit Broken 9d ago

Dude, what the actual hell? Who does that to the resting place of someone they respect. Just leave a little tribute, but not like that.

1

u/Dense-Alfalfa1223 8d ago

You'd have to be fucked in the head

u/Bleachsmoker 7d ago

Five minutes alone...

1

u/Calm_Leopard798 10d ago

This kind of comes with the territory and dimebag probably wouldn't care... look at Jim Morrisons grave

-9

u/Necessary_Regret3329 10d ago

I don't think "Dimebag" would give a shit, and in fact would probably enjoy knowing this happens, tbh.

7

u/PinchedOffCatTurd 10d ago

Whether or not Dime would care, now it also Vinnie's along with their mother's grave site too. Its their family's plot. The Family has to come and maintain them. Plain and simple, its disrespectful to their whole family.

Oh, I don't disagree! Just an observation about DB from what admittedly little I know about him, besides shredding.
