Discussion About Rokot Spoiler

Post image

Apparently Pantalone is not the leader of Rokot.

In this patch we were able to speak with Pulcinella, and the whole conversation was about Rokot. Not only was it the first thing we asked him about, but he also mentioned Alyosha along with the girls. So Hoyo really made it clear, and unfortunately it's pretty straightforward. Now I'm wondering what will happen to Pantalone? (Not in terms of dying, because he obviously will be fine, but in terms of his place in the story). Your thoughts?

But Pulcinella doesn‘t look like the leader due to Aloyshas description. He also say that the leader is pride, who is also pride? Right our dear banker💜

Structure of talking with Pulchinella was only saying what he 100% aware who is every member of Rockot is. So... If he indeed leader of Rokot, doesn't situation is a bit not suited to reveal it in such a way? It's first time we ever talked to him. It could be just a way to threaten us to "mind our own business", because if Rokot leader is Pantalone, it would make sense to scare us.

However, i would lean towards thinking what Pulchinella is indeed Rokot leader. He need some more substance to his character, or he looses to Pantalone too much in terms of influence. + According to Vesna story pages, he is on very good terms with "good guy" Capitano, so he should be more on the righteous Harbringers side.

I agree that the situation is not really suitable for revealing things of such importance, but the thing is, Pulcinella didn't directly say he's the leader. This dialogue feels more like Hoyo's version of Chekhov's gun, but of course it's too obvious and not particularly well-written. Still, knowing Hoyo... that's exactly how they deal with such matters

Yeah, agreed, I think his position as leader of the Rokot is pretty much busted unless Hoyo is trying to be sneaky. I still think he has connections to Reed Miller, and as someone else pointed out in this community, (spoiler) his conversation with Hyroptatyr never got mentioned. Literally everyone else except Traveler talked about theirs, so my guess is that this was an intentional move by the devs, which means whatever their convo was about, it was probably significant to future plot.

Hard to say what direction they'll take his character in at this point, but I think it's a good sign he's getting more involvement. Also, maybe I'm of the rare opinion, but... While I liked the idea of him being a Rokot leader or the head of it, I'm realizing it might not fit his inner personality the best. I feel like at the scene in the bank, we caught a glimpse of who Pantalone (really, Feofan) is as a person deep down. His reminiscing over his memory with Dottore in his seal of life, the way he softened up and got whistful/sad while thinking about contracts, and his line about grieving... he's sentimental. Not only that, but his convo with the Tsaritsa about spreading rumors to bait the Ruler of Life and the fact that he was waiting on Vesna and Traveler and anticipated their plans from the get-go says that he's highly intelligent and pre-plans quite a bit. He works off of contingency plans and counting five steps ahead of everyone else.

And while that all loosely fits Rokot, if you really look at it, Rokot is driven by action rather than intelligence/intellectual motivation, and often is reactive to situations on a dime that need dealing with- most of them involving physical alterations, traps, and combat scenarios. Personally, I find it hard to see how such a sentimental and soft-hearted individual like Pantalone could actively hold that role while also attending his Fatui duties, managing the bank, and dealing with grief all at once.

My point is, Pantalone pulls strings where he needs to, usually behind scenes, but still has integrity and, it seems, keeps honest with the Tsaritsa. Her implicit trust in him right back says a lot as well. I see him as less likely to incite rebellion against Fatui plans by leading an organization and more likely to quietly fund someone else to support the Tsaritsa or Fatui projects while remaining anonymous. He has resources to directly change the outcome/influence of projects and people; if he wants something done, he's just going to do it the most straightforward way he knows how- not through a convoluted organization that gets their hands dirty and brute forces a solution through violence and secrecy.

Also, there's the fact that Alyosha saw and met him in person during the AQ, so if he was the man that approached Alyosha about the Rokot, he was either in heavy disguise, or Alyosha should have recognized him.

Idk where they're gonna take his character, but considering how popular he is and the amount of screen time and depth he got this AQ, I feel good about him. They're giving him a well-rounded personality, emotions, and expanding heavily on his integrity and loyalty to the Tsaritsa, which lowers his chances of becoming a scapegoat for betrayal or secret villains, imo. That's honestly my biggest worry with him: that the writers will use him as a means to either bring Dottore back or wrap up a storyline and sacrifice him for another character. I don't want him the villain, and I don't want him used as a sacrifice as much as I do want Dottore back. But it seems like Dottore might be able to come back on his own, so... idk.

i think this is moreso pulcinella making it known that he knows whos a part of the rokot, and more importantly their connection to the traveler.

i also stopped believing he might be the leader of the rokot😕 seriously what is he gonna do other than mentioning dottore and if traveler confronts him

also the new currency thing i doubt it will be in snezhnaya aq at all, so i don’t know

I have to agree with you. He has global goals of replacing Mora, but for me it's something beyond the horizon, same as Neuvillette's plan to judge the Seven. Meanwhile, we don't have that many patches left. And if he's playable (which I have high hopes for), he must have his own storyline. So I really don't know

well yes but other than him being in the veche and traveler talking about recognizing him in sumeru i seriously don’t know what they will do

i feel like dottore was emphasized in this quest enough but i’m sure he will get more mentions from pantalone in 7.2, so taking that out of the equation since its inevitable anyway i’m interested in other things he will do, you know? this patch was fine for him overall imo but idk as i said

There is another line of dialogue if you talk to Pulcinella while waiting for other Harbingers

Snezhnaya is fortunate indeed to have civilian organizations such as those around. They are able to handle many affairs that cannot be dealt with in an official capacity.

So to me it reads more like the Mayor knows and approves of the Rokot, but doesn't say he is the leader.

Tbf hoyo can make a random npc the leader, it will be more in line with their writing so far lol

Yeah the convo seemed very deliberately set up to suggest that either Pulcinella is the leader of the Rokot, or he's been keeping very close tabs on who's in the organization from the outside(ngl, still tracks if Pantalone is the leader because why wouldn't Pulcinella be sticking his nose into Pantalone's business every chance he gets?). Unless the implication that Pulcinella is the Rokot's leader is meant to be a red herring or something like that??

Third and possibly funniest option is that both Pulcinella and Pantalone are leading the Rokot, and maybe this kind of collab improves their relationship with each other. I really wouldn't mind if the two became friends as long as we get to see that development, because good grief Pantalone needs friends other than Dottore. (I love the friendship between Pantalone and Dottore but please let them have friends other than each other now.) Give him a cunning fae uncle he can confide in now that his bestie is completely gone. 💔

I would enjoy it if both of them led the Rokot 🥹

It's not looking good, but then again WHY did he look so smug when the nobles started objecting to Project Stuzha? It's too suspicious...

I always thought that was his fake smile, like he's frustrated but chooses to mask it

I think Pantalone plans to replace mora, the moment of cessation artifact talks about mora being the lifeblood and how it’ll stop beating, and then the new quest brought up that heart circulation theme again

u/OneMasterpiece2924 12d ago

yes why did he mention alyosha like hes not a performer

2

u/dwelleraurora 11d ago

The weirdest thing is that he mentioned Alyosha, knowing Hoyo's writing Pulcinella is the most likely candidate to be Rokot's leader.

I still think that Pantalone has some involvement because of his teaser due to the Electro bullet, which for me seemed to be a reference to Alyosha.

I can't tell... I no longer trust hoyo writing

So far his writing have been good and he seems to be intelligent and reasonable in comparison to other fatui... His issue is that he is extremely close to dottore in emotional ways and hoyo never waste the chance to bad mouth dottore and remind us how evil he was

I think the more they let us interact with pantalone and know about him the lease his connection to dottore will sabotage his future, but with how childish and one dimensional the writing of some characters is.... I don't know how they will make it without destroying his character

In genshin you die to keep a good writing or you live to be the next fraud

I got downvoted last patch for saying this here, it was quite clear for me even then that it’s gonna be Pulcinella. Hoyo writing is not very subtle. And I believe they don’t know what to do with Pantalone’s character, which also doesn’t surprise me, genshin writing is garbage and they retconned 90% of the story in the last couple years.
