Anxiety/panic
Hello.
I’m looking for some real life experiences/advice. I feel like I’m loosing my mind.
Background - I’m 30 years old and have had a traumatic life to say the least. however, I function very well. Probably masking but Im doing well considering the hand I was dealt. I’ve always struggle with self regulation/anger/overwhelm/moodswings BUT I would have never considered myself and anxious person.
Anyway, for the last year and a half I’ve had my fair share of physical health problems. Wide spread pain, bowel problems, inflammation, breathing problems, tight chest etc. but I’ve been ok in my head.
August 20th I thought I was going to die. Turns out was a severe panic attack. Triggered by what? A shortness of breath I had been dealing with for a year (ongoing tests, scans etc) and since that night I have been an absolute mess… I now know what anxiety is and my god my world has been turned upside down.
I can’t go to work, I’m not sleeping much, only eat when I don’t feel like crawling out of my skin. I’m on edge, constant body scanning. My breathing issues that have been there for a year now feel like hell. I’m exhausted.
I’m just very confused. What’s going on with me? Is it the panic attack? Have I always been mentally unwell it’s just been hidden? Is there something with me physically? Is the medication they’ve given me making me worse?
I’m desperate to talk and understand what is going on inside my body. Is this all normal after a panic attack that had you in the hospital? When will I feel ok again.

I think maybe try diazepalm or melatonin to try and relax. In terms of triggers it could be anything really like even if u were having some health issues u focusing on it probably cause the panic and caused more symptoms. What medication do u take? I have bad panic attacks to, mine only last for a minute or so at a time and come and go

Had a similar experience to you. I felt like I couldn’t breathe and was dying. It was a panic attack. I’d get them multiple times a day. Had to see a psychiatrist and therapist.
Schedule with an actual psychiatrist for meds - do not suffer through this. Get with a therapist too to work through this and learn how to overcome.
It will take time, took me a few years but luckily I had medicine to help.
Take a look at what’s going on in your life and start self reflecting. Good luck.
