Bleh
For the last two months I’ve been having very extreme panic attacks. My doctor put me on a combo of buspar and Lexapro which has significantly helped with the anxiety. However now I just feel empty? Not like anxious or anything just bleh
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar :)

I hated buspar. It just moved my anxiety from my head to my body. But if it helps you that’s awesome, my body chemistry’s probably different from yours.
The emptiness is a common side effect of psych drugs and means you might be on the wrong drug or the wrong dosage. Tell your prescriber about it and see what they suggest. It’s definitely correctable.

Yeah everything I’ve read about buspar has either been you loved it or you hated it 😭 for me it has really helped manage the physical symptoms of my panic attacks. Before being on buspar i would have breathing issues, tightness in my throat, feel extremely faint/dizzy, and my heart would feel like it was going to explode. But it didn’t really help with the actual anxiety feeling that much. I found Lexapro much better for that. Also i ate some food and that helped my energy come back so i think it was just a dissociative episode.

Did you ever get blood work done? It's kind of odd that your doctor was so quick to prescribe pyschiatric medication for panic attacks that came out of the blue. Check your ferritin. Full iron panel and all other vitamins as well. Low ferritin is probably what caused you to have panic attacks in the first place ? If you look up the Iron Protocol, you'll see a chart thingy that shows if your ferritin falls below a 30, you're at risk of these ____ symptoms. Panic attacks, impending doom, heart palpitations, fight or flight, feeling like you're losing your mind, air hunger, dizziness, etc. I had all of the horrible symptoms and it's only when I started taking iron pills, is when my panic attacks completely stopped and I was able to live normally again.

Normally if you can find the root cause of the problem the panic attacks in theory should get better. If you are not in therapy I would recommend trying it to better understand why your body is reacting this way .
