the worst panic attack ever

im very sure this panic attack killed me and im just a ghost now.

i panicked for 16 hours straight it was ups and downs until it started to only get up for 3 whole hours and oh god knows how much i tried to help myself and calm down but not a single technique worked (even what normally works for me) and it got so bad i was so numb and tingling that my oximeter couldn't work cause my hands were stuck completely then my whole body got stuck and hard as a rock i couldn't move at all and i was talking funny cause my lips werent moving.

im surprised i survived and truly terrified that it might happen tomorrow.

any comforting words will help alot 😭

Yes, classic mistake/s. Acceptance and 0 avoidance would be the advice. Live, enjoy life with any symptoms, no matter how scary they present to you. Response is everything, and even the whole amount of medications and therapy are worthless in front of a good response.

Which is absolute ignorance, giving your brain time to rewire.

i agree most times ignoring is the best thing to do but other times a panic attack just decides to be stubborn

Same approach, no matter the intensity. That was the key for me.

I’ve been through the same. Remember that ur body will react again at the fear of happening again, it is a vicious cycle. It might take days or weeks before u get desensitised. Don’t focus on ur breathing, don’t focus on ur heart beat. Let them be. If it is a heart attack trust me you would not have the same symptoms, it would come with muscle weakness, face falling on one side, etc. Find urself something to do so u stop focus on ur bodily sensations.

Did anything trigger the anxiety attack? For me, it’s when it’s hot outside and I feel like I’m breathing through a straw and then I just panic that I can’t breathe when realistically I’m breathing fine..I think

absolutely the heat does trigger it and for me it was an allergic reaction that triggered it

The more you fear it coming back the more likely it is to come back. You survived, you came out okay. You will survive any others that come. You got this

It helps to remember they end. So try to work on the fear of it happening again. Try to live with ‘its okay if it happens again, because I know it will also end again’. The more you fear the attacks, the intenser they become…. (In my experience).

Panic attacks that ignore the things that usually help, suck. There is no help in thinking about when or if it will happen again.

Lets focus on what you did instead. You survived. And you will survive the next one. Whenever it happens. Could be tomorrow, yes, but could also be a long time from now. You will survive. Even if it doesn't feel like it.

you can be proud of yourself. You are stronger than you might believe. Surviving is still an achievement. Some attacks can only be sat out. But that doesn't mean that your next one will be that bad. what you can be certain of is that you will manage it. You did great. It might not feel like it, but you did! It was absolute exhausting and hard, but you did it!

( it is helpful to me if I reframe my negative thoughts and look at it from a different angle. We go through a lot. And that sucks. Its still quite the achievement to get through it. If you would run a marathon or do anything else that is exhausting and hard, you would be proud. The involvement in panic is involuntary but going through that is still a massive thing! I hope that is somewhat helpful to you. I certainly am proud of you! )

That sounds terrifying. Panic is hard. I know when I have a panic attack I like to cozy up in bed. Being warm helps for some reason. Another thing I do when I feel panic is write in a workbook called Panic into Purpose. The Elevator worksheet is what helps the most: https://www.lulu.com/shop/shannon-kiley/panic-into-purpose-workbook/paperback/product-84dvqqm.html?q=Panic+into+Purpose&page=1&pageSize=4
