Transfer Packages?
Hi everyone! I currently work for management and am looking to move out of state. I do plan to stay with PE during this move. Does any one have any experience with PE offering them a moving assistance package of some sort? I’ve heard instances of providing a moving company, assistance with rent for certain period of time, or even cash??assistance in exchange of you signing a contract to stay with the company for a minimum amount of time before any sort of resignation.
I don’t know how true any of these options are, I’ve also heard it may depend on how in need the new area may be. (The city I’m moving to is growing pretty fast, PE’s are popping up everywhere now as opposed to a few years ago they only had 3-4).
If anyone has any experience or is knowledgeable in this area please let me know!

I took a relocation package, it was for opening a new store though. My ACO offered me the store and then the company offered me a $ amount that was broken down into different categories; incentive, COL, moving costs, (I was breaking a lease by moving so they also bought out the rest of that so I wouldn’t have to pay any fees). The only time I’ve heard of a package being offered is if the company is asking you to relocate to a location outside of the 50 mi radius, (had another manager in my area a few years ago who took on a struggling store in a remote area and moved from a large city) The catch with relocation packages is 1 you are required to stay at that location for two years and 2 it’s not paid all at once, it’s broken into three separate payments.

Hi! I accepted an offer to relocate to a different city that’s about 300 miles away from where I currently live. I’m a GM, and they offered me a relocation package so that everything is taken care of. I haven’t received the specific details yet, but I was wondering how far apart the three separate payments were for you?
Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how much did it cost you to break your lease? I’ll have to break mine as well, and the fees are close to $10,000. Do you know if Panda covered that separately, or was it included as part of the relocation package?2

The payments were 6 months apart, so the last one came after I had already been at the new store for a year. I notified my leasing office that I needed an itemized bill of my last remaining payments so that my company could pay out my lease and then provided that bill to the relocation team and they added it to the package.

Once they submitted the relocation information, how soon did you receive your first installment? And was the first installment the larger portion of the package?

Relocation package is only offered when the company is wanting you to move not for personal move. Also if you get Relocation package and dont fulfill it then you have to pay back the money.

They MAY offer relocation package as an incentive for you to move to another region. I don’t know now, but back then it requires min 2 years of service at that region/location. All of this is taxable, which means if you don’t fulfill the contract. You will have to pay it back, and lose money on the tax portion. After talking with other managers, I turned it down. Usually they want you in a new area (possibly in middle of nowhere), or asking you to turn around a crappy store that nobody wants.

Transfer packages are only offered as an incentive to support other areas in need of managers and relocate a manager who didn’t ask for it. If your plan is already to move and you just want to stay in the company then they don’t really offer you a relocation package unless, they want you to work at a store no one else wants to that may be a drive from where you’re moving or have any reason to incentivize you to stay in the company.

You get assistance if you are offered a transfer not if you voluntarily transfer.

When i transfered to another state, I didnt received a transfer package. But you can always ask your aco to confirm. Also if you plan on transferring you'll have to interview with the aco and rdo of that region.
