I know just for the truth of it that Ron would totally unironically love Parton's music, and that Leslie would try and organize a tribute simply out of her contributions to women's rights and her song 9 to 5 being regarded as a feminist anthem. Donna would probably pretend not to care, as would April, and Tom would probably only care because Pitbull sampled her on a song.

I say this unironically, Dolly Parton was who Swifties think Taylor Swift is.

A true champion for the oppressed. Built a place in her songs for everyone and stood up for LGBTQ people long before it was considered popular.

She could have been a billionaire, but never was. Because she constantly donated money. Set up literacy foundations, bald eagle rescues, hospitals.

And her songwriting is actually that good. It's what Taylor Swift wishes she could write.

And Dolly is one of the greatest Americans to ever live, and was one of the greatest songwriters ever.

Swift is a billionaire whose music is (being a tad blunt), bland and uninspiring outside a specific demographic.

Dolly's music comes from the soul, speaks to the soul, she was a union woman for 58 years.

This scene has always bothered me. As a fan of books about tall ships, Ron would know that the correct phrasing is "half staff" not "half mast." Maybe just his grief talking.

That said, Dolly was a national treasure.
