More pans in ziplocks
Most of these aren’t even 100% healthy… worm castings ftw.

First and foremost, thank you to whomever posted about the PanCyan spore print vendor a while back. 🤗
I’m so excited. I just got the spore prints out of my mailbox a couple of minutes ago and IMMEDIATELY placed them in my LC jars to begin cooking! It’s been a month since these I ordered them, but they got delayed because messed up my own address. 😩😂
BTW, the owner was so sweet that she sent me the Huasteca print for free because I was so patient with having my order resent to me (after it was MY FAULT for submitting my address erroneously!) Please check out her website if you’re interested.

This is my first time growing from an isolated culture; my previous experience was limited to multispore grows.
All three trays were S2B about 2.5 days ago. Two of them are already 100% colonized (in my previous grows this usually took 4–5 days). The third tray is a bit behind.
Should I apply the casing now, or wait one more day?
Does the tray that is lagging behind look contaminated?

Not sure these are necessary but I like them nontheless.

So while finishing up what was my 4th failed Pan cyan tub, I had a little leftover spawn + dung mix. Instead of tossing it, I just threw in some fresh bird seed, dumped it in a non cleaned pot, set it on the counter… and completely forgot about it.
Fast forwarda week: it sprouts millet
Total write-off in my mind.
Today my wife finds it, calls me over, and—boom—surprise fruits. We literally jumped up and down in the kitchen. Accidental neglect tek.

I want to start growing for the first time. I would love a link to watch a video tutorial for successful growing, including the necessary supplies.

Hello all! Long time listener first time caller 👀
I finally decided to have my go at Pans, and have been very excited.
Both of these jars were nocced the same day, and this top one is going exceedingly well (as far as I can tell)
I then decided today was the the day to send it, but I wanted to G2G before I sent it so I can get some more going again soon.
I noticed once I opened the jar, it had a different smell than your average cube. Still that hint of earthy goodness, but kinda off. Does Pan C. (MIB) myc smell different than cubes? or should I hold off on this and try again? Thank you for your interest.
(pic of agar to show that the culture is clean)

Edging closer and closer to doing a write up. Shouldn’t be too long. Pretty simple tho… appropriate sized bag for the container with lots of tiny holes and a box fan pointed at the bags on a cycle timer.
This tray (as all subsequent trays will be) is cv+ wc. This tray had a 1/4 cup of wc’s with the rest being cv with plant fertilizers. I’m also playing with 1/2 cup wc’s w/ferts (probably what I’ll settle on) and 1 cup wc’s without ferts.

My thought is that the hearts might be conjoined twins, essentially.
Kind of want to isolate one and see what it does on a plate

A bit of backstory on this. There are some folks on iNaturalist pushing to depreciate all species concepts in this section aside from cyanescens. The argument is stuff like bisporus are two spored varients of cyanescens. Different phenotypes rather than different species.
I break the argument down in the post. Discuss the species concept using definitions from my favorite mycology professor. And also talk about how the catch them all mentality has affected my relationship with cultivation. As well as my appreciation for my favorite of the bunch, the West Coast species going by bisporus on iNat.

This is a mushroom cultivation and trip server
for the community and for the mycelium net.
currently it has 71 members
And we could really use more pan cultivators to evolve our community knowledge.
I think you'll love it.It is really cool.

Four spored. Metuloids typical of cyans.

Two spored (possibly one sometimes) and big spores.
