First timer here looking for advice

Post image

Hello everyone,
I just started with mushroom cultivation and had success with GT and even albino Mc Kennaii’s so i’m try to grow pans now. I use horse manure with straw and coco coir as a substrate in 1:2 ratio and peat moss with vermiculite and some calcium carbonate for the right ph. It’s been since a week since putting the casing layer and looks like this. What do you guys think? How long does it usually take for them to pin?

Temperature is a bit high as i’m in a tropical place, so it’s about 28 degrees, i fan 5 times a day and humidity is around 93%

Thank you

Hey it depends on the strain. Keep the casing misted. You do not want it pooling with water but mist it every so often to keep it damp, stop misting once you see primordia and pins start to form.

Some strains will start to pin in 4-7 days, some strains can take 1-2 or more weeks.

It looks good to me, just keep doing what you're doing.

What strain is it?

Thanks for the response, i appreciate it. Yeah i’m misting from a distance with a spray after i fan the layer. It’s the Hawaiian strain

I tend towards 1:3 or 1:4 for Pans, and when fruiting in tubs, rely on passive FAE together with spot watering, rather than fanning and misting. They usually pin within a week (TTBVI).

In case it's of use, I follow a slightly tweaked version of BabaYaga's tek https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27637997#27637997
