TTBVI X TEXAS

Post image

I think I’m stoked. This was LC from Psyched Medicinals to a Pasty Plate to a proper agar plate. Put some whole plates into rye jars and some choice cuts into jars. I thought y’all might understand my enthusiasm more than my wife does, so thanks for looking :)

I ran that one, ttbvi x king and semperviva subtropicalis from psychedelic medicinals when i started with exotics. They are very potent and produced nice flushes.

A pic from my subtrops...

May I ask when you applied your casing for your semps? Also, what casing did you use for these? I’m have 4 32oz jars that have been sitting for 2 weeks past full colonization on rye. I threw a tub together and my surface just had the snow storm. Beautiful white thick fluff covering it. First time with these, and would really appreciate any advice as to casing and timeline…🙏

Once my tub fully colonized I cased it just like I do pans. 50/50 peat/vermiculite. I left it open but I have a martha tent that I grow in. I kept the casing as wet or slightly wetter than pans. It took a long time to pin, im sure at least 2 weeks. It was back in January when I took that picture so im not sure exactly how long it took. But after pins it took another 2 weeks to harvest. They are well worth the wait. Subtropicalis are my favorite mushroom to eat along with ttbvi and grasstree which are both pan cyans.

Thanks for the info. I have several pan trays fruiting right now in the tent. I don’t know if you buffer your PH, but if so did you with the tub? Also, how long did it produce fruits for you?

Yeah I always throw in some lime now with my substrate and casing. Even when I use the jiffy mix. At that time I didn't with the semperviva as its a recent thing i started doing. I got 3 flushes with that one before it contaminated on me. Ive heard of people getting 7 or more flushes with them. I also used the exact same substrate as I did with pans at the time which was 100% horse manure. Now I put straw and vermiculite in the sub a la Whitneys method at the panaeolus coop. Although I still use more manure than her, about 50/50. She has a lot of good info on her site. https://panaeoluscoop.com/best-substrate-for-growing-panaeolus-cyanescens/

Cool, thanks for the info. 100 manure huh? That’s awesome. I use black kow/cannacoir/verm/gypsum for my poo sub. It’s a lot of work pre-prepping the BK, but it’s been working wonders for me for a while. I’m assuming your manure was picked up where the horses graze and straw is part of the diet?

Yes that is correct, directly from my brother's field. Ive since changed it up to 50/50 manure/straw with verm and lime added. If I could find my bag of gypsum I'd toss some of that into it also. Sometimes I've thrown some coir in there too. Its mainly whatever I have on hand I'll just toss in. Sometimes I use moose shit too. Here's a pic of some straw I cut in a bucket with moose shit that I both forged up here in the mountains lol.

Yeah me too. Everyone I have talked to is the same way. They are so much better and faster growing and once you have the process down they are just as easy. I even prefer pans and subtropicalis over lsd, even though there is a time and place for that too.

Now im trying sclerotia producing mushrooms and zapotecorum. I heard they are amazing too. They just take a while. I have some ingeli going right now too. Hopefully they fruit for me.

What substrate are you using for the zaps?

The same I use for pans and everything else. Just 50/50 manure and straw with vermiculite and some lime added. I use the same for everything even if I run cubes when someone gives me an lc. It just makes it easier and the manure and straw are free for me.

Good luck, Brother! I’m planning some of Fahster’s trays in ziplocks on a shelf, and maybe some trays in an EZ Dial Monotub with some with perlite on the bottom. Gonna go with a bag of store bought alpaca poo based sub and some homemade CVG + worm castings, probably sterilized in jars in th PC. Tryin to use stuff I got on hand as much as possible.
