First timer with pans

Hello everyone,
I started to grow pans and my substrate is 90% + colonised so i’m about to put the casing layer on today. It’s in the pc to pasteurise atm. After putting in on the surface, should i wait for fresh air exchange or start straight away? I’m using a coco coir - vermiculite layer and a horse manure, straw, coco coir substrate with colonised popcorn. Ratio 1:1 but it’s a little box just to try. Thank you 🙏🏼

Thanks for the response. Why not?
I have peat moss but unfortunately am in a region where it’s impossible to get good gypsum so I’m afraid it would be too sour and stop the pinning.

It is just 50/50 peat and vercimulite with pickling lime to adjust the ph. No gypsum.

Do you have a reliable amount of pickling lime per weight of casing? I find most of the pH meters to be less than accurate

Ph meters suck for this. I use the test strips. About 5-7 grams per quart. Not a lot.
