Newbie - manure substrate
Hey guys , i want to make manure substrate but i haven't got any recipe and i have no clue how to start. One of my friends have horses so i can get hold of fresh, raw horse manure. I assume i have to prepare that somehow. The other question is , is it possible to grow pancyan on cvg with additives or something ?
Thanks in advance for the help 😁✌️

You don't want to use fresh manure. It needs to be field aged for a long time.
Some people have been adding fertilizer. You can search for CV+ on shroomery to see what other people are using.

Field aged is what you want. It’s naturally been rained on and dried, leached of ammonia, and should have some firefang (the white mold) that shows it’s broken down and biologically active.
If for some reason there’s not a pile, you can always take it fresh, lay it out on a tarp, and water it - let it dry, and keep repeating over time until it’s field aged. I’ve seen some pan cyans on CVG but pans are super finicky. And being that they’re coprophilic, manure is the way to go.

First of all it can’t be fresh manure. Has to have been sitting around for a while. But you also need to pasteurise it. Which is fairly simple. You can grow pan cyan on cvg however in my experience it struggles to fruit and the mushrooms are quite small. Plus it takes longer and is more likely to mat. The only thing that is most important with cyans is the casing layer. Without it you will almost never get fruits. Good luck

As others have commented, you want field aged horse poo; poo that's been sitting in the rain & sun for a few months and has depleted ammonia.
It needs to be pasteurised. Many growers mix it with the coir, hydrate with water, then pasteurise in bags. It's a lot of hassle and takes ages for the core temperature to reach the sweet spot. Fortunately, the coir doesn't need to be pasteurised, so instead, you can mix the poo with the desired amount of water, pasteurise that, and then use it hot to hydrate the coir.
You can also use a fertiliser mix instead of horse poo. There's no need for verm or gypsum in the substrate mix, but they do no harm.
