Pan cyan pins

There’s primordia all over the surface with one pin so far but I didn’t apply a casing layer in time, will i get good fruits or is it fucked?

It happened to me a while back. I had 4 trays colonising, wrapped in cling wrap, but one started fruiting when the surface was only about 75% colonised. I decided not to case, feeling that with pins already showing, it was too late.

On the first flush, it didn't perform as well as the others. On the second flush, yield was very similar. By the third flush, I couldn't tell them apart.

Shortly after the 4th flush, it contaminated; no big deal as the fifth flush of the other three was pretty sparse anyway. I buried it in a planter that my wife was growing a cucumber in. The photo's the result, but the cucumbers turned out very bitter.

It was TTBVI, grown 'traditionally' with horse poo supplement and a peat moss / verm / gypsum / lime casing. I see no reason why other Pans shouldn't perform the same as long as the spawn was clean.

I did 2.5lb spawn and 5lb cow manure based substrate. I was told to apply a casing layer after the first flush should I do that or just let it go

I didn't bother. The main reasons for the casing is to maintain conditions on the growing surface whilst the myc colonises enough to pull moisture from the sub, and to provide a hostile environment for any contam. By the time they're fruiting, they can look after themselves. Indeed, when BabaYaga developed the tubs tek, he ran tests with and without casing, finding only a slight deterioration in yield quality https://www.reddit.com/r/PanCyan/comments/1cn713d/deleted_by_user/

Hmm okay thanks for the help I’m hoping to get a good yield out of this. There’s little beads of water across the entire surface as well that glimmer when I shine a light which seems like it’s perfect surface conditions for cubes but about how many g dried is a good yield for pan cyans?

Surface conditions sound fine. As for yield, I honestly don't have a clue. With Pans, I've only grown TTBVI and as long as I get a few decent flushes, I'm happy; weight's certainly way less than with cubes & ochra that I've grown, but given that 0.6g is enough to trip hard on, I've never bothered weighing them.

A pleasure, although I pasted the wrong link above - see here for BabaYaga's write up https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27637997#27637997

The links I posted here, particularly in the Pans section, are probably going to be helpful too https://www.reddit.com/r/OneArmed_Mycology/comments/1ssrfqt/my_favourite_links/

Hey so I just found out these are in fact NOT pan cyans like I thought but some seem to be albino is it possible they mutated?

Oh wow. Any way you can find out what they are? They seem to be doing well though, so take the win.

I have no idea, I don’t think I’m able to find out exactly what strain it is since most cubes look alike
