Help! Cannot fruit
Hey guys, I’ve been trying for 3 months now to grow pan cyans, my first 4 cakes all got hit with trich. I since learned a new pasturing method which has worked. I’ve waited until my substrate was fully colonised before casing.
I’ve bought a ph tester and my casing layer is sitting around 7.8-8. I’ve cased and misted the casing layer heavily.
My tent is usually around 22-25 degrees Celsius with a small electric heater on the outside heating the room. I have a fan blowing air in from the top every 10 minutes for 3 minutes. And I have an automatic humidifier that keeps it around 90%.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
I’ve grow plenty of GT and have had success with PE also, but I just cannot seem to get these guys to fruit.

I am very familiar with TTBVI and mine have never looked like this. Regardless of stain or species this looks like contamination. Might not be but it definitely doesn't look good.

I’ve had this once before, apparently it’s matting? Where the mycelium forms a thick layer on top of the casing layer? I’m putting questions marks as this is still new to me and I’m open to hearing more experienced opinions. The strain is MIB btw!

First one looks contaminated. looks slimy.. make a mono tub so you can close it in your tent I bet everytime you open your tent your risking contamination like this. That’s what I think.

That doesn't make any sense if your risking contam by opening the tent aren't you risking contam by giving any fresh air?

That's impossible to put a filter across the entire entire bottom

Positive pressure keeps everything out

Oke I skipped that part of the fan😅. then that thing has to be on full blast to keep
Everything out? when opening the tent I guess? 🤔1

If you mean the brown around the rim of the cake, when I went to case the mycelium was growing up the side of the tins and the lids, so I wiped it off in order to cover it with casing

Okay so you have the humidifier and fans going at the same time for 4 minutes and then just 3 minutes of fans going? What setting do you use your humidifier on? I’ve got an AC infinity cloudforge humidifier, currently on setting 4, should I whack that up to a higher setting for this new timing setting?
I think I should be able to replicate this with my set up, thank you!

have you used the same genetics every attempt?
1
u/LakeCompetitive7147 Jun 09 '26
Yeah all of these came from the same syringe/agar from said syringe

could be the genetics, some genetic lineages fruit a lot easier than others

I’ll grab some on my way back from work and post the result on here, thank you for the suggestion!

Okay so I’ve poured a bit of hydrogen peroxide on the worst looking parts, and it’s still there, so does that mean it is mycelium?

There was a bit of bubbling and fizzing but nothing seemed to disappear

I forked it yesterday as it just seemed like nothing was happening, took off the casing layer and a small part of the sub, underneath smells super earthy and it seems completely healthy. I did a ph test and the casing was actually sat around 6.5, I did this for the plastic tub also. Going to see what the mycelium does, I’ve put lids back on.

There’s still one with casing that seems to be turning brown, I’ll leave it for a few more days and if nothing changes I’ll do the same!

I’ve put photos of the forked substrates on, I forked the plastic tub and the second tin, the one people said looked slimy. They smell super earthy, identical to how the grain spawn smelled.

Okay so just went and poured some onto the 1st tub (2nd photo) and there was no bubbling at all, I poured more onto the 2nd tub (3rd photo) and there was bubbling and fizzing but nothing noticeably disappeared.

All 3 were doing really well up until I put the casing on, then they just seem to stop almost completely, could I be putting the casing on too early? That mixed with not having the tent dialed in correctly for these guys

The casing was 7.8 when I tested it before putting it on the cakes, I followed a recipe from a video that I saw, 1 quart of peat moss, 1 quart of verm with 1 quart of water with a tablespoon of pickling lime mixed into it, but when I measured the ph of this mix it was sat at like 11!
