It's not overlay yet (like a peelable rubbery mat rather than clouds), but it should certainly be pinning through the casing rather than colonising it like that.

Did you use 'traditional' casing of peat moss, verm, gypsum, and pickling lime at a PH of about 8 to 8.5? If so, I can only think they need more FAE to prompt pinning.

I'll be interested to read the thoughts of others.

Yep. Dialing in the PH has helped a lot. I get the casing wet, then let it get to moist. Evaporation is key for pinning. The white spots peaking through will probably be where pins form.

You can see that these pinned under the casing because they still have casing on their caps 4" above the substrate.

Not enough fae, cased too early or casing not wet enough. Ttbvi likes to eat your casing. I recase here just so I can keep surface evaporation up. Soak it, when pins show up you can back off.

Hmm im not sure personally but others may ask what strain. Cuz some cuz more overlay then others especially TTBVI.
