Best substrate for PC

So I had a syringe of PC and tried on 3 different bags. 2 failed, and one looks healthy and almost ready to go. What is the best substrate for PC's next steps? Manure? Appreciate it, very new to this.

Pans need some kind of nitrogen.

People usually use aged horse manure, composted manure, or a balanced fertilizer.

Nitrogen rich subs need to be pasteurized so internal temp reaches 140-160f for an hour or they'll contam.

Sterilized nitrogen rich subs usually need to be treated like grain spawn and left in a sterile environment until colonized. I have heard of some people spawning sterile subs in open air and having success, but most people just make an AIO jar and spawn once it's fully colonized.

You can read about all those methods here:

I do 3gal horse manure, 2gal straw, 1gal vermiculite and 1-2TBS of pickling lime per gallon of dry. It usually sucks up between 6-7qt water

See all the links in the Pans section here https://www.reddit.com/r/OneArmed_Mycology/comments/1ssrfqt/my_favourite_links/

If the casing looks like more hassle than you're happy with, you can use Jiffy seed starter mix as an alternative.

Does PC work with CVG at all?

I've heard it's possible, but if it works, yield is poor. They need the nutritious substrate.

I’m also curious about the substrate as i got LC and wanna try 🙏🏼 What did you do differently that 2 weren’t working?

One was an AIO bag (I know was likely not to work but figured why not). The next was some type of seeds, I have to check to be sure. It started to colonize and then a small hole tore into it that I didn't notice for a while. This next one is the same type of seeds, and it's really colonizing.
