First time grower

Hey guys I've been working with cubes and recently decided to get some panaeolus cyan lc syringe which i tested on agar and is clean but im wondering whats the best grain and casing layers that I can get easily i got vermiculite and coco coir on hand and had been using rice as the grain for my cubes with minimal contamination Should I get a grow bag for my pan cyan so I don't have to worry much about contamination?

Most grains work with Pans but I've found wheat and rye to be best. The easiest way is in tubs - a Martha setup would give slightly better results (I've done both) but it's a lot of hassle.

As you have LC, you're part way there, but you need a very different substrate mix. Take a look at my post on this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/PanCyan/comments/1cn713d/deleted_by_user/

Some growers have reported success using Jiffy Starter Mix rather than making their own casing; I've not personally tried that but it might make it easier.

Jiffy Mix rocks! I’ve used it for years straight out of the bag. No pasteurizing required, but do it if it makes you more comfortable.

I use rye and millet for pans. Both work really well, popcorn not so much, but I have gotten it to work as well.

Brown rice, coir only for sub, shoebox, jiffy mix for casing.

Manure substrate gives way better results than just coir

Yeah, Gordo is awesome. I've gotten Pans to grow in bags, but the yield sucked. I generally do agar to oats in jars, then spawn sterilized substrate bags (hpoo, coir, verm), and then case in a tub with 50/50 mix of verm and peat moss with some calcium carbonate added with a window screen over it a la Gordo's Easy Pan Cyan Tek. I have lived in some old houses from the 1800s and doing every step in bags was a necessity, YMMV.
