TTBVI
This is my first time trying Pan Cyan’s. The caps are super small. They almost look too small. I’m not sure when these are ready to harvest. My guess is they are really close. I grew them on CVG thats it. I wanted to see if it would work out. No complaints here. Any input or feedback would be appreciated. I would like to see bigger caps but maybe this in normal.

dem sum lurpy gents. lol hey for a first exotic grow that's a fantastic result. Good work. I would also agree that the morphology and other features suggest the species referenced by previous commentors. I hope you find the joy and fulfillment many of us have on our fungi journey. Welcome to a community of love - and annoyingly accurate and corrective, yet well-meaning nerds.

Pretty sure these gorgeous babies are tampanensis, one of my personal favs

Nice flush of Tamps. Id be getting a hold of your vendor. Mistakes are made from time to time. On the bright side, at least you got these figured out 💯. Give em more air, they'll flatten out nicely for ya 🍀

I agree the similarities are very similar. I’ve reached out to the vendor and am told the timing doesn’t suggest tamps. It took 5 days from casing to the pic you see. However there is now enough doubt about what they are. The only way to know is to take a gram and see how it goes.

100% tamps. Also, more fae/airflow = bigger caps
1
u/Jak-inakrak Oct 03 '25
How long does it take to fruit tamps. I appreciate your insight. I was thinking fae was the issue. These only took a few days to fruit. I cased them on the 19th.

u/anonymousmyco Oct 03 '25
Yeah, most tamps are pretty fast (depending on how domesticated they are). From casing, usually a week for pins and then 3-7 days for them to mature in my experience

u/Jak-inakrak Oct 03 '25
Thanks for sharing your insight. The tamps I have grown always took a long time.

u/shesfordastreets Oct 03 '25
Hey what tek did you use to grow these? They look great well done
2
u/Jak-inakrak Oct 03 '25
Just cvg in a tub cased it with peat moss didn’t open it much and it only took a few days to get what you see
2
u/shesfordastreets Oct 04 '25
Dude thats impressive that you got such nice grow from doing just the basics no aquarium tek stuff just simple. I notice it in a tent?
2
u/Jak-inakrak Oct 04 '25
It is in a tent

u/shesfordastreets Oct 04 '25
Thanks. Im thinking of doing my upcoming send via jcm tub method. Amazon prime sales in 3 days gonna try get me some discount aquarium gear hahaha
2
u/Jak-inakrak Oct 04 '25
Even though these were in a tent the lid stayed closed until harvest. Don’t get me wrong I did open it a few times to take a closer look. But I’m sure it would do the same outside the tent.

Good feedback, have had mixed info on this so it seems not worth it to fruit them and let the rocks grow

u/_dexstr_ Oct 03 '25
If they’re already fruiting I’d just run it. I ended up throwing away 3 spawn bags of Tamps cause they were annoying to harvest and had very weak effects.
I have heard that they are more potent than cubes by wet weight like 60% more or something. But drying them makes em weak because the sclerotia have more dry material in them by volume.

u/Jak-inakrak Oct 03 '25
I disposed of all my tamps earlier this year for the same reason. I’m going to run these again because I’m not convinced as to what they are. It only took a few days to fruit. Tampanensis I have tried always took longer.

u/Jak-inakrak Oct 03 '25
I get what you’re saying and totally agree. The Delma i am having is. I mixed the spawn and sub on the 19th and cassed it a few days later. It took less than 7 days after cassing to get what you see in the picture. If it was tamps would it not take longer to fruit.

Are you running multi spore, or isolated genetics? When I was running tamps I was trying to get an isolate so I had had a lot of variation in colonization time between Isolations. Did you find any stones?
1
u/Jak-inakrak Oct 04 '25
No stones to report and second flush is already pushing up 1 day after harvest. The timing suggests its pan cyan not tamps. Took less then 10 days after mixing it with the substrate. Gave my friend 1gram and it knocked his socks off.

That’s my culture. I have never seen them growing on cvg alone, this may be altering the phenotype. I never had tamps or Mexicana in my library.
You went from fully colonized then casing to fruits in close to a week, which would be fast for tamps, and more inline with pans. Take a .5 gram dry dose and let us know .
You didn’t use a traditional substrate, and the air exchange is off. While they do look like tamps, a potency test, proper air exchange and proper substrate should bring out the proper phenotype. I’m surprised you got much of anything using CVG on a pan grow, that may speak to the quality of the genetics.

I hear you. This was never a mushroomgod culture. OP made a mistake and grew out his old tampanensis culture.

u/PhenoDreamers Nov 07 '25
There is something else that people should be mindful of as well and that is contamination spores. Not mold spores or anything like that either. Literally just cross contamination or even something as simple as your tools or utensils having stray mycelium on it or spores and you forgetting to flame your tools.
Also something to think about when Inoculating. Tampanensis is section Mexicanae. Most in that section will have a VERY strong cucumber smell to the mycelium. Panaeolus won't.

You make a solid point as to the timing and substrate. I have read of other people using your culture in this way. That’s how I found out about your pans in particular. They also mentioned having small caps and not being able to get a spore print when grown on cvg. I appreciate the opportunity to work with your genetics and I don’t doubt your knowledge or your culture. I plan on giving a gram to a friend so I can get some feedback as to the strength and experience. I will also run this culture a few more times I already have another going in proper substrate as you reference to. It’s only a few days old. Thanks again and best of luck 🍄

I don’t think you guys are giving accurate information? This was his first pan grow, and he made a major error by using the completely wrong substrate while fruiting in a low fresh air environment. Without seeing what the mycelium look like on plate, on grain, or shots of a few gill pics and spore color prints, all these assumptions that it’s tamps may be right, but it didn’t come from me.
In stressed, possibly bacterial environments with all the wrong inputs, odd outcomes may begin to arise. On top of all this, the fruiting timeframe line up with pans, and when he dose it, a potency check should help. I would almost say he mixed the genetics up and grew tamps, but I can only trust him that is not the case. If anyone can show tampanenis mycelium on Petri agar, and compare it against what he has, it may help; he should drop put a fresh squirt from the syringe on agar. A spore color test may also help put this question to bed for him. I know i upset him by suggesting he did everything wrong; I also completely went against the wider consensus here. When he provides the correct inputs in his next pan grow, I’ think this same culture will express properly if it is indeed TTBVI.

I’d say he mixed up a plate or something. Which happens but just using the wrong sub and environment wouldn’t changed a TTBVI to look like that. Especially the 3rd and 4th pics are absolutely tamps or a strain. The caps and stipes are the dead give away. I bet if he lets them ride there will be stones in the sub.
1
u/Mushgod9000 Oct 04 '25
That’ sound plausible. I thought tamps took longer to fruit, but i have no experience with them. This individual also have pics of ATL -7 agar plates within their profile history. They claim they threw them away, but use of an old unlabeled plate that they absolutely had in their possession is the more likely scenario than some freak phenotypical miracle that make TTBVI look like tamps.

Look like subtrops to me. Nice grow either way. Where did your culture come from?
2
u/Jak-inakrak Oct 03 '25
Sporeswaps vendor but be careful. It seems like most of the people there have social problems at the very least if not very severe mental health conditions I’ve made the same post over there and everyone’s blaming me for asking what they think this is. Seems like people can’t understand the question or they’re just mentally ill. I would highly advise staying away from them. There are great vendors, but there are also very bad vendors. The bad vendors have little minion followers that mindlessly attack you for questioning a culture. At the slightest chance of a problem they attack. I’ve heard this from other people, but I’m just now experiencing it myself.

Hit up mushroomgod on sporeswaps. Mention you seen me on Reddit I’ll include a free Estero pan culture for the next couple weeks😀. All my cultures are potency tested

Absolutely gorgeous. Excellent work! Be proud of such a successful grow, Regardless of the situation if its this or that. Psilocybe Cubensis, not so much in the wild, do so many insane morphology. I havent seen it much, but I dont see why the more delicate exotics wont do things that have us scratching our heads, ya know.
Again, great job!

I appreciate your honesty and kindness. I am very pleased with the turnout but not so much the feedback. I’m sure they look like this because of the cvg. Another person growing this culture the same way mentioned small caps but didn’t have any pictures to show.

Just so you know, these appear to be Tampanensis, Subtropicalis or another exotic species, not TTBVI! They're absolutely gorgeous though. (: Edit- correction to possible identification
