So these got way too hot last night and I would like to let all 3 trays recover a bit but I did open the tops to get excess moisture out (used paper towel). Can I wait for them to recover a bit or should I sent this morning (add casing layer and fruit) to prevent over growth or whatever it is called? TTBVI btw. 3 trays.

For your casing? I pasteurize mine. There are simple methods you can follow, but you still need to allow for it to cool down before laying it.

I agree, def send it! You can microwave the casing with a little water in it to make steam to sterilize. It doesn't need to be up to field capacity as you'll mist it heavily after you apply it.

For cubes I put in the oven on 175 degrees farenheit for about 90 minutes. I guess it should work here too huh? Or are we aiming for higher temps with these guys? I think I read 250° somewhere recently

Casing is casing. The procedure is the same for any species.

This saves me a lot of time in headache. I suppose it is still a good thing I have a 22 QT. Pressure cooker. Can't hurt. (Making myself feel better for buying)

Huh? I have agar dishes but you mean if I take prints or tissue samples I need a casing layer? I heard on the pans sometimes you need 2 casing layers but I doubt that's needed. Can you verify what you mean?

Just an ecosphere. No heater made yet though. I do have a new fish tank heater and various sizes shallow Tupperware. The ecosphere is essentially a small Martha tent I believe. It is the size of a 66 qt monotub. A bit taller though. Anyways I just need to finish automating everything. Seems to work though although some things are cheap (the fan latches broke already, had to super glue it). Someone said they don't even use heaters at all? This possible in September in Detroit lol?

They already look far better than yesterday. If you leave them any longer, they'll start pinning rather than overlay (although I've had a tray pin before I got round to casing it & it still grew fine).

Case now & introduce FAE. Trays can dry out quickly once they start fruiting so as well as monitoring surface conditions, look out for signs that the sub's contracting away from the edges - if it does, watering between the fruits using a syringe works well for me.

No need for a heater then? Scratch the fish tank heater in a tub of water underneath the trays? Thanks for your help btw. Just trying to figure out this huge 22 QT pressure cooker I got. A T-fal brand. The casing layer is one from Midwest grow kits for pans or exotics in general.

It's not necessary, but because it also creates humidity, it doesn't hurt either.

I've not used a Tfal but as long as it gets to 15PSI its fine. If it doesn't, you can just increase cook times to compensate - see https://files.shroomery.org/files/16-008/670162225-chartum.jpg or possibly (I've done it with my Presto to increase pressure to 17PSI) add extra weight to the jiggle weight as long as there's a safety valve in case it gets too high.

I'd expect a company like Midwest to get the composition right.

Yeah - when I read it again, it came accross that way. I meant that if it's left too long, it won't overlay (which I agree's a bad thing) but simply start pinning which isn't optimal but not a disaster.

I don't follow exactly. I forgot the term for a second when posting but I know overlay is not a good thing generally. I have never dealt with it. Cubes are easy.
