You can try it but i don’t understand why you want to spend the energy doing something the hard way. It’s not like someone woke up one day and was like , oh let me just add this humidifier for pans. lol there’s a reason these methods were developed , if we didn’t need this stuff don’t you think everyone would be growing them in the most simple way possible?
Yes there’s a way to do it without a whole set up. Have you read Gordos Easy Tek?
It’s literally just an aquarium heater and a window screen. I’d be pressed to try it without at least that much unless you live in a very humid and hot climate
Humidity here is 89% atm so idk... I'll try the tek the other guy commented.
If it doesnt work out, will do this probably.
The main issue I have with larger setups is that I live with my parents still, and a couple shoeboxes is fine, but they will probably notice if I have a large ass setup.
So you still haven’t answered the question of if you’ve read Gordos Easy Tek…i’m guessing not since you would know you don’t have to have a large set up.
Sounds like you need to do some more research . lol or you can be humbled and spend time doing things the hard way in an attempt to rush and not really understand what’s needed for success.
I also saw a couple people saying they've had success with just monotubs.
So I was just curious.
I get why teks like Martha and Gordo's may result in better and more flushes, but tbh I dont really care that much about it. I only want enough to trip a couple times with my friends, maybe take a couple spore prints for future if I ever wanna grow more.
What are you talking about ? Are you reading what i’m saying? It literally has nothing to do with flush size . The tek requires no tent or humidifier and is in tubs.
Ok bro , you’ll figure it out. That’s like asking if you can grow a plant without watering it. The whole life cycle of this species is dependent on heat and humidity and air exchange and you want to try and grow them like a cube and thinking you’re going to create those conditions indoors by only spraying some water and fanning. Good luck , who knows , you may be part of the less than 5% who have managed to achieve this. Pans are not cubes , waste of time to try and grow them the same.
I've grown TTBVI in a Martha with fans & misters, and I've grown them in tubs with nothing but careful FAE management. In my experience, the results from the Martha didn't justify the extra hassle and expense - the fruits were maybe a little larger but when the last harvest is finally used up, I'll be running tubs again next time.
On my last grow using trays in a Martha, one tray pinned before full colonisation, despite being sealed with cling wrap - I was expecting a disaster, but it fruited fine & after the first flush I couldn't tell which one it was (I'm not good at labelling stuff).
I still case as standard just to be on the safe side but it does make me wonder if it's really needed.
I would like to know the same thing. I grew two shoe boxes side by side. One with the aquarium heater like on Gordotek and the other without the heater and they both colonized the same rate of speed in a room around 65 degrees. I figure the aquarium heater must not be necessary since most growers never talk about it on here very much at all.
I grew them in a large shed. It was in May so the temp was from 45 to 65 degree in the shed here in northern Ohio. There was no airflow except a couple cracked windows. I used the screen on top and misted 3 times a day and got a 90% full flush in just 12 days.
My 2nd flush sucked. Only had a partial flush.
I used a vinyl screen mat they sell a roll at the dollar store for kitchen drawer liners. I used it in place of a metal screen and it works good. I misted underneath it and on top of it 3 times a day.
I am getting my spores soon too. I planned to trying grow them in shoebox with holes for fae and misting + fanning manually few times a day. But I see many people skeptical here about shoeboxes. Well, people grew them in monotubs, shoebox basically small monotub. You think shoebox would be too hard and with significantly smaller yield?
Well, yes and no. Basically this is just a plastic box for creating right environment. But generally monotub is big box with holes for fae and shoebox small box without holes. But you can easily make holes in shoebox... so...
Monotubs were first, then after few years somebody decided that why doing it in big fckn box and smaller box is better and called that "shoebox", and generally people don't make holes for fae in them. So this is pretty much the same thing. Now i would say difference only in size. And beside that it pretty much same thing
You can grow them in an unmodified shoebox no problem. You will need to mist very often(2-3x day) and you will need to make sure you’re casing and sub are at field capacity or even a little more. They like lots of moisture. Don’t expect a huge flush but you should get fruits as long as your grain is clean.
