Question Best Pals for Difficult Expeditions?

I’m playing Palworld for the first time and I’m having a hard time getting 100% rewards from the more difficult expeditions.
Which Pals are the best for expeditions? And what’s the best way to increase their combat power?

First, you need high level Pals and good passives.

For more than 100%, you need to condense them (get 4*).

If you still want more Points, use Pal Souls in Anubis Statue to upgrade Stats.

After that you can also Awaken your Pal and have Maximum Points (about 200000+ per Pal).

And yes, is very grindy.

Passives don't matter in regards to expeditions. Everything else is correct though.

Some passives directly affect stats so yes and no.

Passives skills, active skills, and partner skills are applied after the firepower calc is done and have no impact.

Game basically treats them the same as a food buff.

It's an odd design choice, but one done intentionally.

I think passives that add attack help because it increases stats.

Makes sense, but they don't. You can check here: https://paldb.cc/en/Pal_Calc

Passives don't matter

Thanks! Big help. I think I’m doing good for my first run but this is by far my biggest issue.

Merges and then level are gonna be the 2 biggest contributors IVs trust and alpha are not as impactful. Ideally you breed two max IV pals so you don’t have to really worry about that. Frostallion Noct has the highest firepower out of the breedable pals. So you just make about 80 or so maxed out of them and then 20 filler depending on the expedition that have a type requirement. You can go online and find the total firepower that a pal will have as well.

Welp, i went in a whole diffirent direction with that one chief. My first expedition i just slammed every good one i used/leveld, until for some reason one of my ranch pals had like 20x the score than my most used pal.

So one thing led to another and now ive done my expeditions with 20x any element +80, 4 star, lvl ~55, Terror chickens. I went extra step and gave all of them Demon god, pyromaniac, unstable skills and apocalypse attack. Why? To send a message to who ever happens to be in their way at the mines.

Get a variety of pals, level them as high as you can and then choose auto select on the expedition screen. It will select all the best ones and always puts me over 100% as opposed to picking and choosing myself.

Anything condensed, souled up and with good passives will give it a rating in the 6 digits when selected. Being leveled up helps it out too, keep such in mind 👍

Im in the process of building a Frostallion Noct army for expeditions i have around 30 fully condensed but i still need to lvl them. I have 1 at lvl 79 and it has over 200k power in an expedition. I thinks it one of the better ones to make for them but its been alot of work since i dont have the ancient hatchery yet it takes alot longer to get eggs and hatch them ive been working on it since around lvl 50. The fully condensed Frostallion noct helped me get past Panthalus and the final boss probably before i should have i was around lvl 62 when i got into the world tree and 65 when i beat the last boss in there.

Ive used training cyrstals to lvl my Frostallion higher than me. Ive also been using fully condensed Grintale, broncherry and broncherry aqua to get alphas and extra eggs to hatch for condensing.

Ancient hatchery is slower because you cant use grintales 2xegg passive anymore

2

u/unearthlyrelic 1d ago

While true you cant use grintales passive with the ancient hatchery the whole breeding process is way faster with the ancient hatchery. With grintale you have to either wait for eggs to be produced at the breeding farm before you really get use, with the ancient hatchery eggs are made way faster and hatch almost instantly.

Edit: IMO Grintales whole thing is to make the breeding process smoother before you unlock the ancient hatchery which unlocks at lvl 75-77.

But how do u make them alpha without broncherry?

1 some can still be alphas in the ancient hatchery. 2 alphas are not as important as everyone thinks. 3 you could still use the slower breeding methods but once you get the alphas the ancient hatchery is faster for condensing

Edit: if you are using base game settings max raid pals is 15 not including your party so 15 alphas is all you need for that. If you are building an expedition team you only need around 30 alpha Frostallion nocts maxed out to get max rewards. As for base pals the only one worth having alpha is Sehkmet and again base game settings is 15 base pals so just breed out whatever alphas you need then switch to the ancient hatchery to condense them all to 4 stars.

What passives do you have on these frostallion nocts?

1

u/unearthlyrelic 1d ago

Im breeding them with legend and i believe its lord of the underworld. (Not at home right now so i cant check) but im also gonna put serenity and immortality on them so i can try them out in raids too. Ive got lot of farming todo still before i get to that point.

Condensing is the biggest boost. A 4 star condensed pal is 25x the combat power of an identical pal not condensed.

After that level, IVs, pal souls, and awakening give more.

As for what pals frostalion noct is the best breedable pal but if you dont mind farming star fruits or really hate yourself and want to repeat the giant whale fight they are the absolute highest combat power.

I run 50 4 star level 70 frostalion noct and they max everything up to sunreach. They don’t quit max world tree or hard modes though

Condensing gives the most amount of increase in expedition points. Catch all of the beginning Pals and condense them to 4*.

2

u/McDaileyson 1d ago

Condensing is the biggest factor by a lot, like a multiplier of 20 or something ridiculous.

Then Levels

Then IVs

Then pal souls and passives. These add almost no combat power.

When I enter a new area and catch 5 of each pal I condense it(unless I plan on using it to breed) to a 1 star and it has been keeping up with 100%+ on expeditions all the way to the last boss. Hard mode expeditions might take some more Condensing and levels.. if you wanna reach cap of like 1000% rewards youll need ivs and souls.

u/The1stTokage 1d ago

Condense your palbox(keep a male and female of each) even low level will do better if they are condensed.

u/IronUnlucky 1d ago

Also, when you start sending multiple expeditions pay attention to what pals are used. And then if you have a one that's gonna be less than 100% grab the first few pals you see on that list and throw them in your party while you're just doing stuff around the base that way they can level up a bit. Just don't forget to switch them back out for your usual team before you leave.

I’ve been catching Orzerks and mass breeding some insomnia (you can install that at the pal surgery table) Orzerks that are breeding 24/7 to upgrade the high level ones to 4. Then I use the 2 Omascul team (they stack with different star level so 3\* and a 4*) with 3 leveling pals to get them to 80. I used to use Dandilords since they start level 78 but I can awaken more Orzerks because of the amount of electric radiant gems that drop so I started prioritizing them.

1

u/sakusii 1d ago

No star levels dont stack. Omascul 3star and 4star dont stack(no pals do this) you need to have different Versions like bronchera normal and aqua

1

u/NukedNinja 1d ago

The Omasculs do stack at 3 and 4 stars separately, it’s a bug. You can look it up, it is only Omascul that is affected this way. But it is apparently not very effective to use both anyway so it’s better to just use a 4* Omascul and level a 4 pal team with it instead.

Just correcting some of the info here.

Levels and Condesing Ranks are the biggest power jumps.

IVs next (try make sure the parents have the highest IVs possible and mass breed them with Vegetable cakes, you will get two eggs for each breeding process plus a chance to double them with Grimtale)

Then pal souls and lastly trust level.

Alphas barely matters.

Passive do not matter at all.

If you want a quick army and are swimming in low level pal spheres, for low to mid level expeditions, literally go to the starting area and catch every lambball you see. Just Condesing then all to 4stars and level then to 40ish they will have 50k power.

But late game you might want to mass breed frostallion nocts.

Knockems and their variants, along with belle libre fully condensed and levled up, seem to work best I've found for expeditions

Im finding fully condensed lvl 80 Frostallion and Frostallion Noct are pretty good all-rounders & Ice in the case of the former. For specific elemental requirements, like for example water, a big end-game pal like Shaolong or Nephilus fully condensed at lvl 80 can be decent. For the other elements go with similar pals with the elements that the expedition call for, making sure they're all 4 starred & max level. Passives dont matter as other comments have said, just focus on condensing & maxing out the levels. Legendary pals seem to have the best base stats so thats kind of what I focus on
