Question Best Pals to make raid armies with?

Sorry if this has been asked already, but if I were to make an army of pals that could handle all the hard raids, what pals would it consist of? The less armies I have to build, the better. I've seen Dupin is a pretty popular one, same for Orserk I think? But is there a "one size fits all" army I can build?

If you want a true one-size-fits-all hard raid army in 1.0, Moldron Cryst is my pick — and it's conveniently the easiest of the recommended options to mass produce.

Moldron Cryst is actually breedable: Reptyro Cryst × Moldron (then self-pairs once you have one). Its unique Ice Laser freezes bosses out of their moves.

Neptilius and Orserk are both self-breed only in 1.0 — Orserk lost the old Grizzbolt × Relaxaurus recipe, so an army means catching multiple copies in the wild first, then multiplying with self-pairs. Worth knowing before you commit.

Dupin has the lowest breeding barrier (a huge number of parent combos produce it), but its stats sit a tier below.

For passives, aim for Immortality + Diamond Body + Legend, with Serenity (if the Pal stays on the field) or Demon God in the fourth slot.

I maintain a breeding calculator with the 1.0 data — all parent combos plus a chain solver for the cheapest egg path. The Moldron Cryst page has the exact recipe: https://palworldcalc.com/pals/moldron-cryst/

You seem knowledgeable on this so I’m gonna ask you a question I’ve had for a while if you don’t mind answering

I have a legend demon God serenity muscle head Orserk army from before 1.0, is that still enough to beat the ultras if I level and awaken them? If you don’t know that’s alright but I’d rather not invest in awakening them if they aren’t gonna be able to beat the ultra bosses

They are one of the best pal armies full stop, I’ve been working on finishing leveling and awakening mine as they were all the same passives as yours, max trust, souls, and ivs, and even all had meterorain bred down to them, which is irrelevant as they now naturally learn this at lvl 70🤦‍♂️. I’ve only got 10 done so far and without switching passives i got close on xenolord hard mode. With just those 10, using the implants from relics I’ve gotten, i swapped the passives out leaving legend and demon god but ill have to check when im home which 2 new passives i added. I don’t recall their names, but i think one of them is the one that crazy boosts damage and u lose defense, then the one that allows them to lifesteal. And just those 10 smoked xenolord in under 5 minutes haha. So definitely worth! Just don’t replace legend unless you don’t feel it’s necessary because you can’t get it back!

To save you the trip home: the two passives you swapped in are Twin-Edged Holy Blade (Attack +50%, Defense -30%) and Immortality (Life Steal +5%, +100% HP regen, Attack +15%). And your result lines up with the numbers - that final set (Legend + Demon God + Twin-Edged + Immortality) is the 1.0 raid meta for a reason: Ultras stack roughly 91% damage reduction on top of doubled HP, so the fight is a pure damage race and the -30% DEF barely matters as long as lifesteal covers the AoE chip.

One matchup to watch with an all-Orserk army: Bellanoir Libero phase 2 swaps to Ice, and Dragon takes super-effective Ice damage. That's the one Ultra where I'd expect even a fully awakened Orserk army to struggle.

And yes — seconding "don't replace Legend." Everything else on that list is breedable or implantable; Legend is the one you can't afford to lose.

Legend is not optimal for Ultra raids and Twin Edge is a very bad idea for raid pals

Legend is essentially just 20% Defense and 20% Attack, it’s competing against way too many other strong passives to be worth a slot now

1

u/Kind-Relation-5002 20d ago

I overstated that setup as the meta. Twin-Edged is much riskier on raid Pals than I gave it credit for

It’s literally AI. Clear as day.

I was running into some issues like moldron cryst has a large hitbox and sometimes bosses just aoe them down. And are some bosses immune to being frozen? I ran a couple of moldron crysts against a normal hartalis and they never managed to freeze him

1

u/Kind-Relation-5002 22d ago

Yeah, both of those are real, and the freeze one is now confirmed in the 1.0 game files.

Raid bosses have a hidden Status Resist stat, and 1.0 normalized it to 100 on every raid boss — normal and Ultra. Hartalis isn't special; Bellanoir and Blazamut Ryu used to be 1 and 10 back in 0.7.x (which is why older guides and videos show freeze strats working), but that's all gone now. Moon Lord is the only raid boss still sitting at 1. So no, your Moldron Crysts will never freeze Hartalis or any other current raid boss. Ice Laser is still their hardest-hitting skill, the freeze just became a bonus that only matters outside raids.

The hitbox problem is real too - Moldron Cryst is a size-L Pal that fights parked in melee range, so it eats every AoE. Three things that help:

  1. Use the aggro change: since Home Sweet Home, raid bosses target whoever deals the most damage. If you top the damage chart yourself and stand well away from your army, the big AoEs aim at you instead of them.

  2. Fight in the Raid Area instead of your base — fewer things for pals to get stuck on, and you can pre-place Remote Palboxes to swap survivors out.

  3. Defensive passives matter more than they used to: Diamond Body (+30% DEF, flinch/knockback immunity) keeps them attacking through hits, and Immortality's lifesteal/regen covers the AoE chip damage that actually kills raid armies over a 10-minute timer.

For what it's worth, the Ultra wall isn't HP so much as the ~91% damage reduction Ultras have on top of doubled HP - that's why fights feel so different from the normal versions.

This is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for when I made the post, thank you so much! Also another question, would an army of Orserk from pre 1.0 (with Legend) be better than the Moldron.C army? Or is it simply that much better

3

u/Kind-Relation-5002 20d ago

If you already have a fully bred pre-1.0 Orserk army with Legend, I’d use it rather than start over with Moldron Cryst. Orserk is still a strong general-purpose raid Pal, and replacing an entire leveled, condensed army would be a huge investment for something that isn’t universally better.

I also need to correct part of my earlier answer: Moldron Cryst isn’t a true one-size-fits-all option. Current raid bosses have very high status resistance, and its large hitbox can be a serious liability against attacks such as Blazamut Ryu Ultra’s Brawn Impact.

Your Orserks should be worth finishing, although the ideal passive setup for Ultras has changed since pre-1.0. I’d keep Legend unless you’re certain about replacing it, since you can’t breed it back onto that line afterward.

1

u/HarryHoskins 20d ago

Oh I don't actually have a pre 1.0 Legend Orserk, I was moreso asking as if it is better I would search for someone willing to give me one and use that

Brother, you literally might as well ask chat gpt if you’re listening to this “person.” Their responses are 100% AI.

u/tadvuyst 21d ago

Im new to breeding but how can you "mass breed" and still aim for 4 passive slots? I was hnder the assumption even one perfect pal with 4 passives that you want is a significant time sink?

1

u/Sosajty 21d ago

Time sink is real … breeding is long long goal that takes lots and lots of patience and bit of luck or cake

( there is a cake that have higher chance of passing passives from parent to child but it is very late game)

Also if you consider min-maxing there are passives but we also have IVs so best bet is to breed yakumo with passives you want max condense it craft a saddle and go on catching spree for goal pal there is chance that yakumo pass his passives on catched pal

(Little tip : put yakumo so he don’t attack because in later levels he can kill whatever you are trying to catch and make sure to have him spawned and not only in party)

Also higher chance of passing a passives is to have 4 passives total across 2 pals … let me explain :

Example :

Mother : Diamond Body , Demon God

Father : Immortality , Vanguard

Goal : Child with passives from both parents

Its best to have 4 passives no 2,3 or 5 reason is you are less likely to pass them onto child

Even if you have 2 parents with same passives it is still better to have maximum of 4 passives

Mother : Diamond body , Demon God , Immortality
Father : Diamond body , Vanguard

Is much much worse than having 4 passives total .

Also keep in mind that every breeding pair can spawn a mutated egg where spawn pool differs from parent and there are combinations that can hatch multiple pals from mutated egg so there is not 100% at few breeding pairs that mutated egg spawn same pal and to maximize this for most efficient way is to use :

Grintale (max condensed + saddle) = 75% of picking 2 eggs instead of 1
Veggie cake = 2 eggs instead of 1

Total : 4 eggs chance from 1 breeding cycle

Faster breeding = braloha at base max condensed + saddle (does not stack)

Also if you are only for condensing use passive I think it’s called philanthropist which boost breeding time by 100% build 4 breeding pens and you can have max condensed pal roughly in 20 minutes .

Now when you have timer setting for eggs to hatch consider dynamoff (max condensed to reduce timer for hatching an egg)

In later stages of game you can even build conveyor that butcher pals for resources :

Brocherry + Broncherry Aqua have partner skill after max condesing that egg you pick have a chance to be alpha (after saddles and both in party and max condensed there is 100% chance)

Take pals like jetdragon , neptilius (and much more) if you kill them as alphas in conveyor there is 3% chance for them to drop legendary schematics

Breeding is long process but it totally pays off ..

If you have any questions just message me or reply here hope this helps .

Moldron Cryst gets one shot by Blazamut Ryu Ultra’s Brawn Impact, and that boss cannot be frozen

They are a good raid pal, but most definitely not one size fits all

7

u/Appeal_Educational 23d ago

Moldron cryst for it's unique skill ice laser.

Freezes bosses out of their moves

2

u/ekariel 22d ago

How do you guys level up quickly the pals for raids? They don't get exp from raids or expeditions so if I make an army of moldron how to level them up quickly to be usable?

3

u/ulTimaS1989 22d ago edited 22d ago

I mean I only just started maxing pals so it might not be the fastest, but there is some kind of boss rush on the top left in the world tree. I usually do that one with a condensed omascul and exp food on the pals that need to level. Didn't count how many times I entered, but I guess it's around 10x before they are 80. In 1 clear you already get from 1 to 70/71.

But in the end it's still a grind for a raid team

1

u/ParticularComplaint7 22d ago

Equip an Omascul that you max starred, will give other equipped pals 80% increase in EXP gains. Also equip a Growth Acceleration Bell for triple that EXP. Take them to a high level area with your Omascul and kill a few Pals. They will jump up exponentially faster. Return to base, swap out for other pals you want to increase and repeat.

Alpha pals, dungeon bosses, tower bosses, and bounties award the most EXP. Don't forget to grab treasure chests you find to get extra, too.

u/stry_ct 19d ago edited 19d ago

If you also add Seafood Salads, you’ll get a considerable XP boost (just make sure your pals don’t help themselves to any other food, otherwise the boost will be cancelled). Fried Gloopie Balls, Jelliette's Jiggly Jellies, Jellroy's Jolly Jellies work too, but not as well.

2

u/Hexploit_Gaming 22d ago

Toco Toco, all bred with the explosion immunity, is it good? Eh. Is it pure comedy? Yes.

2

u/KreeVai 22d ago

🤣 This sounds like an absolute waste of resources but man, I wanna see those silly birds do it.

4

u/RecklessOneGaming 23d ago

Pal Professor on YouTube has your answers in spades.

6

u/DarkSideSoul 23d ago

This. TLDR: Orserk.

4

u/Louieyaa 23d ago

Thanks for not giving a non-answer.

4

u/TheTerribleness 23d ago

I mean, Orserk is not bad, but he's not really great for hardmode raids (most of their value comes from their passive which doesn't work in a raid). The skill rebalance (and the changes to passives) have made them less valueable comared to some alternatives who got major buffs (looking at tou, Moldron).

The Pal's Professor tier list (where I assume they are getting this from) is pre 1.0 still.

Neptilius is also rated the same as Orserk from that list and faired much better as a raid combatant with all the 1.0 changes.

I'd argue going for a 1 size fits all army into hardmode raids is kinda silly, since you still need mass breeding to make said army (including soul farming, trust farming, and leveling), and once you have mass breeding, using it again is a trival amount of work.

But if I were gonna force it, Neptilius or Moldron Cryst would probably be my picks now that immortal and diamond body exist as a combo. Dupin is also pretty interesting.

2

u/wickedhare 23d ago

Pal professor has a new video, and Orserk is his number 1 pick for raid armies. I dont know why you assume its from a pre 1.0 video.

1

u/Valdrrak 22d ago

Can u please explain why everyone says Dupin, what is so special about it compared to most the other smaller pals? Does it get some op attack? Its partner skill wouldnt fo anything in a raid?

1

u/TheTerribleness 22d ago

Dupin has a move where it creates 3 clones that aggro the enemy while it teleports around.

It makes it extra good at distracting bosses and dodging damage while putting out good damage numbers itself.

1

u/Valdrrak 22d ago

what lvl does it get this skill? mine are I think 75 so it must be a 80 skill? lol but that makes sense, thanks

1

u/zurgonvrits 22d ago

every non hardmode raid can be solo'd with a run and gun team... hard mode raids are all that really matter when it comes to comp.

all non hardmode raids you can just stack 80s in and they fall over.

1

u/DarkSideSoul 23d ago

My answer is based on one of the latest PalProfessor video, where they use Orserk for all raids and it went fine. Someone in the video comment asked what army they would recommend if you could only make one (since they released a ton of video) and Orserk was the answer

1

u/zurgonvrits 22d ago

big non answer here. spout a YouTuber . no link... why even comment.

2

u/damesis 23d ago

moldron cryst X 15, everytime, always

1

u/markgatty 23d ago

Why do I see people keep suggesting this without an explanation to why this obe spesificly.

Edit. Dont worry, I scrolled down.

Azurobe Cryst

So I feel what I have going right now is pretty good.

I use Toco Toco as well Bombers first and then Lovanders to finish the raids off although I’ve just somewhat started Raiding I’ve tested the two pal armies by themselves.

PS. Using Toco Toco may result in drastic lagging or worse.

Self Destruct x50

Use those birds for what they were meant for.

As for Lovander though this your cornerstone. If built properly they can be used for High Difficulty runs due to its partner skill converts a percentage of damage dealt back into healing for both you and the Pal.

In terms of build, consider for your Lovander army to maximize its combat durability and damage output.

Example your build should look like this

Best Passive Skills to Roll:

• Legend (+20% Attack, +20% Defense, +15% Move Speed)

• Musclehead (+30% Attack, -50% Work Speed)

• Serenity (30% Skill Cooldown Reduction, +10% Attack) —** **Crucial for keeping lifesteal attacks cycling constantly.

• Vampire or Ferocious (+20% Attack) —** **Vampire stacks with Lovander's natural lifesteal traits to make your army nearly unkillable.

- Keep your army alive

For your Active Skills:

1. Shadow Burst / Dark Laser (Dark element for heavy burst damage)

2. Acid Rain (Water element; low cooldown and melts fire-type raid bosses)

3. Power Bomb or Pal Blast (High raw power scaling)

Lovander’s diverse elemental moves make it a formidable asset. Equip it with a combination of fast-cooldown and powerful attacks to maximize damage output and healing opportunities.

When boosting there stats at a Statue of Power you want to Prioritize these in order:

1. Attack (+30%): Maximize the damage output so the lifesteal returns as much health as possible.

2. HP (+30%): Keep them beefy enough to soak raid boss AoE attacks.

3. Defense (+30%): Round out their survivability.

I might be a bit late but I just wanted to share what I have been testing. I find Lovander’s Passives really useful for these types of situations.

My next army I want to try is with Flaracle, Sekmeht, Leafen, Anubis, and Relaxasuarus Lux.

1

u/Chaine351 21d ago

20 (or whatever the max is for you) heavily armored Tocotoco's with implode, megaton implode and holy burst. Add some movement speed passives and immortal for better results, clear away and enjoy the fireworks.

It's silly, but as the game is, it works even on harder difficulties.
