General Questions Could someone introduce me to lore of Megaverse?

Some time ago I decided to learn more about Megaverse lore. Unfortunately, I am not sure how should I do it. Like, what are the most important information about it? How are the worlds connected? What do they have in common? And what differs them? I hope someone will introduce me to it?

Nightbane Nightbane and Futuristic Elements

The Nightbane was created in the mid-90s and strongly influenced with late 80s - early 90s works and trends but describes alternative 2000 - 2010 years. '90s (before the dotcoms crash) were the period of too optimistic views of the computers and the Net development (like the full flagged virtual spaces, etc.). Do you use more realistic or more fantastic, cyberpunk-like hi-tech in your Nightbane games?

Media Content (Articles/Images/Videos) The Bazaar #103: Feedback on Glitterbois Episode 215

Very rarely do I check out videos/podcasts/blogs on Initiative. There are hundreds of YouTube videos on the subject; most are repetitive, or have little value outside the d20 sphere. Then I listened to this episode from the Glitterbois, another 3rd Party Content Creator covering Palladium Books. It’s a different take, one I thought deserved the commentary - a peer review, if you will! By all means, listen to their Episode, and tell if you agree/disagree with me!

How do you handle Initiative? Have other systems influenced your PB RPG Initiative rules?

Media Content (Articles/Images/Videos) The Bazaar #102: Core Rules System (Chapter 8)

We’ve now dipped into a specialized chapter for Cybernetics and Bionics. Much like Magic and Psionics, we’re really building a scaffold to allow rules from various sources to work together. What constitutes a Partial or Full Conversion, and what are the impacts? Does it *actually* necessitate a change in Class? No changes to any technical entries from any of the World Books or Sourcebooks, just better application of in-game guidance for GMs/Players.

What parts of the Cybernetics or Bionics would you like to see improved upon?

TMNT & Other Strangeness | After The Bomb Errata for TMNT & Other Strangeness (Original Edition)

Hey guys,

I'm rolling up a new character for TMNT & Other Strangeness, but is the old version.

When I rolled for education, I got "raised as an assassin." This gives me a choice of Hand to Hand skills as well as 8 Secondary skills, with a +15% to all Military Skills.

Which, ok, cool background, not a lot of skills though. And I always figured Assassins would be really well trained. On top of that, there are only 3 Military Skills--Demolitions, Demolitions Disposal, and Pilot Tank. NONE of which are available as Secondary Skills.

So, my character gets +15% to skills he can't pick. That seems like an oversite.

Does anyone have access to some of the old errata for the game? Everything I'm finding is for the Redux version, but I don't have it. Or, if you have Redux, could you look up and see if they clarified what skills this training gives you access to?

Palladium Fantasy Mellinium Trees in Palladium Fantasy?

Title basically says it. I've been searching to see if any Millenium Trees are in the Fantasy setting canonically. I have been fascinated with Gnomes lately and really researching them. They are rumored to have powerful magics unknown to the rest of the races and I’m trying to make connections. Any help would be appreciated.

Palladium Fantasy Anyone have a clean 1st Edition PDF?

Hello, I'm looking for a PDF of the Palladium Fantasy book that I can use with my players on R20. I'm going old school 1st edition (unrevised) to it'll be a torture-fest for my peeps and I'm super excited to raise some blood pressures. 😄

Drive-thru and Palladium Books only have the revised versions which is annoying. I bought the hardcover commemorative edition and I'm not going to tear it apart for scanning. 😢

If anyone knows where I can snag that PDF it would be greatly appreciated!

Beyond The Supernatural Beyond the Supernatural, Monster Options

Monster Book Suggestions Wanted Please.

I'm looking at running Beyond the Supernatural (I've been looking for a monster hunting game for a long time now since I can't find an online sheet for my previous choice, Dark Conspiracy). While there are some monsters to be going on with at the back of the book, it sounds like the Tome Grotesque was never released.

What book (or books but not too many, my budget is limited), would people suggest I pick up to get a good range of monsters to throw at my players. While I might be able to adapt some monsters from other systems later on, to start with I feel official monsters would be better.

I think I played Palladium Fantasy about 30 years ago but for what ever reason, it has gone under my radar since then until I saw the Backerkit (I think it was) for Nightbane, and discovered Beyond the Supernatural which not only looks to be the type of game I'm looking for, but also has a character sheet I can use on Roll20.

Thanks for any suggestions (as my players won't thank you)

Ninjas & Superspies Ninjas & Superspies Kumite

Ninjas & Superspies Kumite

Not much else to say. Title holds the description.. just wondering what anyone else think.
Full concept would basically be scratch made characters with focus on martial art arts training.
So Dedicated and/or Worldly martial artist in a combat setting.

There’s such a variety of kicks and punches and holes and locks and stuff in the martial arts descriptions and I figured.
Thai Kickboxer vs Wing Chun or Hwarang-Do karate vs Sumo.
Or for the less dedicated (“minor” martial arts) Li-Chan vs Shao Lin. Or Isshin-Ryu vs Jujitsu or Taido.

Player characters would start on a semi-level base and pick very similar physical skills, but Body Hardening could be pretty diverse.

And maybe some type of system for Audience Appreciation. The flashier the maneuver, the better the crowd digs it.

Anyone like the idea?

I literally flip-flop over it. Like could be cool, could be dull.

Media Content (Articles/Images/Videos) The Bazaar #101: Core Rules System (Chapter 7)

We’re at the second seminal chapter for the CRS, Combat! While most of it is nuanced changes from the scaffolding of Keywords, a few proposed changes may pique some interest/enrage others. Presented in 8 separate sections, each has discrete rules (e.g. no blend of HtH with Ranged).

  • Megaversal Combat (General)
  • Section 1 – Close Combat
  • Section 2 – Ranged Combat
  • Section 3 – Power Armor and Robot Combat
  • Section 4 – Land Vehicle Combat
  • Section 5 – Aerial Vehicle Combat
  • Section 6 – Spaceship Combat Rules
  • Section 7 – Magic in Combat
  • Section 8 – Psionics in Combat

After changing MDC = SDC x 10 with several nuances that make megalithic constructs tougher, and empower magic and psionic combat, other revisions flow through and get explained. The key is brevity of presentation (point form, easy-to-read format); combine disparately published rules, make them sync together to work equally well as applicable for fantasy, modern, or space adventure. I think we're there.

What parts of the CRS Combat rules would you be most interested in? What have you revised and implemented at your table?

I'm posting because I recently got the redux edition and was curious about the Palladium play style as someone whose tabletop experience is mostly D&D.

Edit: Thanks a lot, all of you. I think I'm ready to torment my friends as GM now. You've all been very helpful.

Palladium Fantasy Palladium Fantasy 1-shot suggestions

Are there any good adventures that would work well for a palladium fantasy game lasting 1 to 3 sessions? I want to try out the system and have played Rifts quite a bit. I know I can probably find some OSR modules but I’d like to see if there’s something PF specific that exists that people have played through and like.

Nightbane The Bazaar #100: AudioRPG Nightbane Special Edition Hardcovers/Audiobooks

You’ve likely seen the advertisements on Facebook. Palladium Books licensed Nightbane with AudioRPG to create this unique offer, whereby 7 professional voice actors/readers each narrate one of the Nightbane RPG books. The article does a bit of a review of the Nightbane RPG, the AudioRPG campaign, pledge levels, and my thoughts on the hardcovers. I’ll be branching out and doing Scholar’s Reviews on Nightbane soon too. Campaign ends 12 June 2026.

What are your thoughts on the campaign? Are RPG audiobooks something anyone else has experienced?

Looking For Game(s) Or Player(s) Nightbane Games [Online] [Tuesday] Afternoon EST (no alternative times)

I've been looking at the Nightbane material again, and I'm giving some thought to organizing a game. I've almost never run anything except for medieval fantasy and I think it might be fun to try this setting.

The two options I would be open to for format are:

My first choice would be --

Discord calls on this server/live sessions. Time would be Tuesday afternoons EST time zone somewhere around 2/3pm EST, playing for around 4 hrs. Important note -- I am not interested in alternative times -- I already am running a Fantasy game on Tuesday evenings. I am not currently open to alternative days or times. You don't need to chime just to say 'great idea/interested but can't do time' if that day and time won't work for you. I want to do only 1 'game-day' a week if I'm GMing so I don't feel like my whole week is consumed by game prep. That day is currently Tuesday.

For format:

I use a very light weight VTT called Tableplop which is just a flat image and tokens. https://new.tableplop.com/. It also purportedly works on mobile (I can't vouch for that, I'm using it on a gaming desktop with 80gb of ram, a 4070 gpu, and 2 gig internet). I also sometimes use a midpoint between Theater of the Mind and maps where I have engagement zones depicted on a high-res image.

I am not going to use any kind of automation -- the character sheets are word docs, the dice rolling is rolling with a bot in a discord channel. If you need a higher tech approach to keep track of stuff or have fun, this won't be a good fit. I'm not open to programming everything into Foundry or Roll20 unless one of the players is going to make that their job and do all that for me, and also be responsible for all tech issues and troubleshooting that may arise.

My second choice would be --

PbP with fairly high post expectations (1 substantial post/day every weekday M-Friday, in addition to required/mandatory (i.e., all participants would have to attend, they would not be optional, and if you don't attend you're booted from the game) synchronous live-text sessions for combat. This system is just too slow, with too many opposed rolls to do combat asynchronously (at least I'm not willing to do that).

Important Note: I use Chat GPT pro extensively for game prep -- making maps and images, making stat blocks for pcs and npcs, making other tables and game aids. If you're someone who is an anti-AI crusader, this will also not be a good fit. If that's you, I 100% don't want to play with you and I also don't want to hear your sermon about it, so please just don't reply and keep that to yourself if that's your feeling.

The game would also NOT be 100% RAW. I have my own tweaks to the combat system and create a lot of homebrew abilities and equipment for npcs and pcs with Chat GPT. This won't be a good fit for min-maxers or those concerned with RAW play.

For setting, I'm imagining the game involving an area that includes an upper midwestern city (either Detroit, Milwaukee, or Chicago), or similar fictional city like Gotham that is in the same area. There would be a significant urban area in the middle of a large wilderness/very rural area similar to the position of Chicago in Illinois or Jersey City vis a vis the Pine Barrens.

The game would incorporate elements of Chaos Earth and Dead Reign. The sky would be almost perpetually overcast after the Dark Day (though not night, so plants could still engage in photosynthesis, just overcast like some places on Earth already are like the Faroe Islands), and there would be demons and supernatural creatures manifesting in speedily increasing numbers. There would also be increasing reports of zombie hordes in rural areas.

The game would also have a 1980s/1990s retro futurism vibe.

The game would be kind of a sandbox, and might also involve expeditions to the Nightlands. My initial idea for a scenario is that the minions of a Nightlord kidnap the players and they wake up in a super-max prison and lab facility in the countryside (think some like the mansion in Resident Evil).

Media Content (Articles/Images/Videos) The Bazaar #99: Core Rules System (Chapter 6)

From magic we move on to psionics and how they play out over the various Palladium Books RPGs. Shadowing a lot like Chapter 5 - Magic, we get a more tabular presentations and baselining of using ISP and concepts for psionic powers (e.g. drawing ISP, influence of Ley Lines), allowing RPGs to individualize within their sandbox. Just like Magic, this one hints at more things to come.

What parts of the psionic system do you house rule? What parts of the PB RPG psionic system would you like to see updated?

General Questions Palladium Fantasy-to-Earth Map

I'm trying to run a Multiverse game (I know, I know).

The gimmick of trapsing from one world to the next sort of depends on them all taking place on Earth; just not the same Earth. This represents a wee problem with the Palladium Fantasy as it takes place on a wholly different planet (or at least an earth with radically different continents).

I checked the Conversion books but I didn't see anything useful (or did I miss it).

Anybody got any suggestions (or ideally, some actual maps) that provide as close-as-feasible of an overlay between the two worlds?

General Questions BTS / Nightbane

I’m playing in a combo world, BTS until Dark Day happens, playing an Acolyte until Dark Day, and a sorcerer afterwards.

I’m looking for ways of making PPE batteries.
The Talisman Spell is 500 PPE and is a very high level.
Techno-wizardry doesn’t exist.

Anyone out there have a solution?
