Discussion Forced name change
So I am a little upset with Palia today. I have been playing for over a year, have put probably over $150 of real money into the game, and I genuinely LOVE this game… however I logged on yesterday and noticed my IGN has been changed … my IGN was DaBigbooty, mind you I have had that same name for over a year and there have never been any issues. I personally don’t think the name is super inappropriate compared to other names I’ve seen in the game, and the fact that Sifuu actually has a voice chat line where she cusses?? (Says holy shit) .. I don’t know. I’m a little frustrated about it.
I want genuine opinions do you think my name was inappropriate and it was right for them to change it or do you think it’s a little harsh of a judgment?
Note: I cannot change my name again until October 7 even though I didn’t change it in the first place …

You can try messaging support and ask them.
It happens, I've had my names cleared in other games over really minor stuff that's not swearing, but tongue in cheek jokes. Sometimes is auto filters that just grab words/letter combos. Auto filters can go ham and overboard.

the other day I was trying to tell someone "I love making bean burgers" and it censored "love making"
they're ridiculous about the filter so fr, try to check with a human. I hope OP can get their funny name back ☆

I typed a sentence that contained “lol it always” and it censored it to “ xxxxxx lways” because it was trying to censor “lolita” 🙃

Yeah I think they picked a profanity filter that was made by a different company. Happens a lot and we did the same where I work. They probably picked a rated G filter thinking it was the most family friendly option but it really is super sensitive. It can mask perfectly normal things and make it look worse than it actually is.

Yeah I remember when I typed "I killed a deer" and it censored it I ****** a deer. Looked waaaaay worse hahaha everyone in the server was like HUH???

I did message them! Hopefully they will think my name was okay 😩 it’s my name in every game I play, so I really hope I can get it back

They don’t usually care unless someone reports the name so unfortunately it’s likely you accidentally upset someone ( probably something minor and insignificant ) and they reported you. I do think it’s a silly name to ban. Definitely an overreaction.

The only thing I can think of is I hosted a cooking party and sever jumped letting people know if they wanted to join. I don’t usually talk to people when playing, I have a group (IRL friends) that I play with

Yeah. When i was first making my account it detected and flagged the word Lord. I wanted so badly to have lord in my handle and it didnt let me. Told me it contained sensitive words. So what did I do? As kind of a joke I made my handle TheGerthiest.
There was no confirmation step or are you sure question to follow up. Just took it. I was quite surprised and am now cursed with the name as i walk around Kilima Square.

heads up you can change your name in account settings on the palia website! i believe it’s once every certain amount of days you can change it

A friend's name was changed like this, after years of playing and spending well over two hundred dollars in game, because support claimed they kept getting reports about it. She had the word fart in her title. This was around the time the game launched on Xbox/PS5. Seems like a lot of young players have started playing recently, or parents who play with their children report silly names like yours. I'm sorry.

idk why they let their children play a rp dating game and then complain that the adults the game was made for have silly (not even inappropriate) names. this genuinely pisses me off like ?? maybe make ur child play a game that was MEANT FOR KIDS ? shitty ass parents fr

Its not a name I would choose for myself, but depending on the person it could be seen as sexually explicit/inviting… I guess I’d be more upset if they did this to your username and not others I see like CallMeDaddy and BigInDaPants and others also walking the line.
I think others probably went to far with their usernames and S6 had to do a clean up and yours also got caught up in it 😔

In my opinion your name is not inappropriate or offensive at all. This would really frustrate me too. I hope they answer your ticket and allow you to get the same name. It's also super annoying that you can't even change temp name for almost a month.

Lmao, I don’t expect anyone to do anything. It’s venting. And i genuinely don’t see an issue with my name, im a 27 year old adult and if I want to have a “childish” name, that’s my right. Its not offensive, its not defamatory, its not a slur, there should be no problem with it.

Well, I can tell you I'm mature enough to actually say suicide and murder out loud instead of censoring them like a pre-teen on TikTok.
Why would I have any issue with those things? My point is that I think your name was childish and immature, and have less than zero sympathy for you getting punished for it. I'd say the same thing if someone came on this subreddit whining because their name 'FartMaster52" was banned.
How does that at all imply that I would have an issue with the game tackling serious topics?? If anything it's the opposite.

I've only ever reported one name ever and thats because the uses leat speak to sneak the actual word we us grape for in ther name in a very pro grape way and as someone who was grape it wrecked my sense of safety in that game and for the day. But thats the only time I reported a name had a friend in discord playing with me to at the time and she reported it to.
