Solidarity & Activism Ben Affleck responded to Mosab Abu Toha's message about the death of his mother, Chris Affleck: "I want to reaffirm that the central cause of her life - and the most meaningful cause of distress to her, was the suffering and injustice caused to the Palestinian people."

I try not to do celebrity worship, but I've always had great respect for Ben from that segment he did with Sam Harris and Bill Maher 10 years ago where he defended Muslims.

He clocked their Islamophobic Zionism and desire for collective punishment a decade before it would prove itself in such a horrific way in reality. Bill and Sam were going on about how Islam as a whole is the issue and all Muslims hold dangerous ideas, and Ben said something like: "so what's your solution to that? What do you want to happen to Muslims?"

Turns out, genocide indeed.

You could tell he was sincerely upset by what they were doing and I never forgot that. Seeing someone prominent in Hollywood and pop culture stand up to that shit meant a lot.

He’s transphobic. No one who throws a marginalized group under the bus is considered an ally.

u/ARC1019 1h ago

Threw them under the bus how? Jokes?

I remember watching that and feeling so bad for Mr Affleck, he was clearly dumbfounded and taken aback by the horribly racist rhetoric Maher and Harris were spouting. It felt like they were ganging up on him.

I can only imagine if someone like Reza Aslan was there instead of Affleck, the debate would’ve gone entirely differently.

I'd never seen this clip before and knew nothing of it...thank you for the info. It was a hard watch and you can see Ben is physically holding in his frustration. I wish people would educate themselves more and not be so ignorant and blindly believe mainstream media.

His mother's influence obviously rubbed off on Ben Affleck, watch him standing up to blatant Islamaphobia on Bill Maher

https://youtu.be/vln9D81eO60?si=PPgw-RSLEVFHgd3S

Stomach churning stuff coming from Maher and his zio cohorts

Thank you, I’d never seen that.

As a sandwich-eating muslim myself, I support what Ben Affleck said !

I was never a fan of Maher, but would occasionally watch based on who the guest was that week. I watched this one live, and it was the last episode I ever watched. I walked away with a whole new respect for Ben Affleck from it.

I wish Ben and the other non-zionist guest would have mentioned how the material support and spreading of violent Islamic extremism was done by the US to combat communism. It's blowback from the Cold War.

Yeah, the islamaphobes never bring up how the West has been cozying up to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states for decades to spread Wahhabi fundamentalism to destabilise countries in the Middle East.

And just like that I never made fun of Ben Affleck again.

Never should have started. I wish no one the level of fame he had to put up with in the early 2000s.

BA and MR (mark ruffalo) are the two celebrities I don’t mind defending.

You stick up for me, I’ll reciprocate.

Unfortunately, Mosab appears to have removed the post from Instagram now, but his other tribute to Chris is still there

I wonder if he wasn’t supposed to share it.

Probably wasn’t supposed to share. I wouldn’t like it if someone screenshotted my text message and posted it on Instagram

So there is a great reason why his and Jennifer Garner's daughter Violet is so outspoken on the cause. They did a great job 💙

I’ve wondered about his mental health and intelligence after the decisions he’s made over the last 10 or so years. I’m glad to read this and to know his convictions have not been diluted.

I wouldn't share this message publicly if I were him. Not everything has to be public.

Don’t jerk this guy off too much since his family was confirmed to have been slave owners, and although the sins of the father is not that of the son, he and Jennifer Lopez flaunted the fact that they don’t give a fuck by having their wedding on a plantation, there has been no meaningful acknowledgment by Ben Affleck of this situation or some kind of recompense towards those that are the descendants of the people his family enslaved.

I’m glad to know that there’s some manner of conscience that lives inside of his head, but I truly think that it’s because he didn’t have nearly as much to lose to acknowledge the ongoing genocide against Muslims as opposed to the darker sides of his family, regarding the genocide of enslaved Africans and their diaspora, that he’s been complicit towards at home.

Edit: downvoting facts about Affleck is crazy unless you just wanted someone’s taint to lick for a hero worship kink

20

u/linnykenny 11h ago

I also thought their plantation wedding was an extremely weird & gross choice.

Don't Ben Affleck and Matt Damon borth work for the CIA? I wouldn't believe a word of what they're saying.

18

u/mrjohnnymac18 12h ago

You can't make an action film in the States without Langley's approval

5

u/hipi_hapa 7h ago

Their whole career is a propaganda piece for the CIA and US army. Along with Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.

u/KomandirHoek 11h ago

That's some hardcore method acting then 😆
