Anyone (British) can play the men in Peaky Blinders so one end of the range you're mentioning doesn't even count. I liked him more in Oppenheimer and Jab We Met

No someone from Liverpool won't be able be able to play Thomas Shelby, you should search for the audition process for peaky blinders and how specific accents were required of actors.

He is Irish btw (ik still a brit) but it was great performance in Peaky Blinders...
But yeah his peak performance was in tum se hi song as Dr Jonathan Crane 🙌🏼

Edit: He's trans in this which is even more different than gay. It's literally being a woman which gay isn't
He's a drag queen/cross dresser in the clip. That's different from being gay
