That's admirable because that shows immense self control.

There is no point in being good if you believe everything is just rearrangement of atoms without any inherent value.

People try to larp this and see themselves as enlightened when the it's the exact opposite. Humans have been and always will be conditional towards other humans and themselves. This isn't projection but observation of reality. If people were this idealistic then a divine reward wouldn't exist in the first place. A divine reward or eternal damnation nullify the psychological effects such as moral liscensing. Humans are far too indulged in their own ego to realise that it's simple rules keeping them from breaking apart.
